PRESS KIT Week 30 LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC Date & Time Sunday, April 01, 2012 - 17:00 Stadium Stadium Lille Métropole 03/30/2012 - Ligue de Football Professionnel - 2011/2012 - Ligue1.com Week 30 LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC PREVIEW : LOSC LILLE MÉTROPOLE - TOULOUSE FC LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC Feature Preview Champions League football will be on the minds of Lille and Toulouse when the two in-form clubs meet on Sunday in front of another capacity crowd at the Stadium Lille Métropole. A 3-0 win at Evian-Thonon-Gaillard, backing up a 4-0 home walloping of Valenciennes in the northern derby the previous week, consolidated Lille's grip on the third place in the table they have held since Week 7. Rudi Garcia's side became the first in Ligue 1 this season to win successive matches by a margin of three goals or more and ended Week 29 seven points behind Paris Saint-Germain and leaders Montpellier. The champions are keeping a close eye on what is going on behind them in the table too with Toulouse entering Week 30 fourth in the standings, three points back from LOSC, after a run of five wins and a draw in their last six matches, making Alain Casanova's men the form club in the top flight in that period. Reigning Ligue 1 player of the year Eden Hazard is in the midst of a purple patch with two goals and three assists in his last two league appearances. The prodigious Belgian international has reserved his most thrilling play for the home fans, scoring in each of his last six league appearances at the Stadium Lille Métropole. The quality of Hazard's set pieces has helped Lille scored 11 goals from corners, a Ligue 1 high and the 21-year-old continues to impress the managers of big clubs, with Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester City's Roberto Mancini both coming to France to watch him in recent weeks. Breaking down an obdurate Toulouse defence will be a challenge even for a player of Hazard's obvious gifts. Ali Ahamada has kept 16 clean sheets this season - better than any other goalkeeper in the five big European leagues - and TFC have conceded only 24 times all campaign, making them Ligue 1's stingiest defence. Garcia said: If we keep winning, we know that our position in the table will be good. There are still 27 points to be had, and effort to be put in. We're going to focus on our match with Toulouse, which is another important game. If we maintain this desire and determination, we can have a lot of hope for the end of the season." With Aurélien Chedjou out injured for two to three weeks with the left thigh injury sustained against Evian, former Toulouse captain Mauro Cetto is set to feature against the club he left last summer to join Palermo. The Argentinian made 98 Ligue 1 appearances and scored seven goals for TFC in a four-season stint and left a sizeable impression. Casanova said: "We're happy to be seeing Mauro again because he left his mark here. Mauro is the Argentinian who puts winning above everything." Left-back Cheikh M'Bengue added: "Mauro was very important to everybody here. He brought his experience, his maturity and his fearsome will to win to bear. He was a good captain, a leader of troops. He tried to put players off by talking to them when he played for us but I don't think his tactics will work on us!" Toulouse are bidding to become the first Ligue 1 club to win four straight away games in 2011-2012 and a one-goal margin of victory would suit them just fine, just as it has on nine previous occasions this season. 1-0 to the Toulouse was the scoreline in the pink city in Week 29 when the pink boots of Franck Tabanou provided the one moment of outstanding quality that was enough to see off bottom club Auxerre. Casanova said: "Thanks to that win the game against Lille becomes really exciting." Key defensive midfielder Etienne Capoue serves a one-match ban but otherwise Casanova has no new selection issues as he aims to come up with the right formula to frustrate LOSC, who approach Week 30 with the joint-best attack in the division. 03/30/2012 Ligue de Football Professionnel - 2011/2012 - Ligue1.com 2 Week 30 LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC - HISTORY: Lille have hosted Toulosue 34 times in the top division. Lille led 2-0 thanks to goals from Florent Balmont (9') and Hazard (57'). André Ayew got one back for OM (71') only for Sow (72') to make it 3-1. LOSC Lille Métropole - The 2010-11 season saw Lille break a host of club records as they swept to a Ligue1-French Cup double, bringing major silverware to the north of France for the first time in over half a century. - Lille had last won the league in 1954, and the Coupe de France in 1955, ending a trophy drought whose only consolations had been four Ligue 2 titles (1964, '74, '78 and 2000) and an Intertoto Cup (2005). - Lille have won two Ligue 1 crowns (1946, '54) and finished runners-up five times (1948, '49, '50, '51 and 2005). They have won the French Cup five times (1946, '47, '48, '53, '55), and were beaten finalists twice (1945, '49). - Their triumph sees them return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2006-07, when they finished second to AC Milan in the group stage before being eliminated 2-0 on aggregate by Manchester United. - In the 2005-06 Champions League campaign Lille played all their home matches at the Stade de France in Paris, because their regular home - the Stadium Métropole Villeneuve d'Ascq - did not meet UEFA requirements. The club used neighbouring Lens' Stade Bollaert for its European matches in the 2006-07 season. - Lille earned an historic 1-0 win over Manchester United at the Stade de France in the 2005-06 Champions League and became the first French side to register an away win over AC Milan (2-0) the following year. - Lille finished season 2010-11 with the best attack in France (for the second year running), their 68 goals eclipsing second-placed OM's tally of 62. Lille had two players in the top 10 of Ligue 1's goal scoring charts - Moussa Sow scoring 25 times to top the scoring charts and Gervinho notching 15 of his own - plus ten assists. 03/30/2012 Ligue de Football Professionnel - 2011/2012 - Ligue1.com 5 Week 30 LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC - Lille's Belgian prodigy Eden Hazard was voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year - the top individual honour in French football - after taking out the Young Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010. Toulouse FC - Toulouse have never won the French league. Their highest ever finish was third, in the 2006-07 season, which qualified the side for their first ever Champions League campaign (eliminated in the third preliminary round qualifier by Liverpool (ENG), 5-0 on aggregate). - Toulouse's only top-tier silverware remains the 1957 French Cup, although they have been crowned Ligue 2 champions on three occasions (1953, 1981 and 2003). - TFC were a constant fixture of the French first division between 1983 and 1999. They returned to the top flight in 2000, but despite finishing 16th the club was relegated to the amateur third division by France's financial watchdog, the DNCG. They have been in Ligue 1 since 2003. - Toulouse finished eighth in Ligue 1 in 2010-11 on 50 points. They were knocked out of the French Cup at the last 64 stage by Paris FC (National, D3) and out of the Coupe de la Ligue by Boulogne (Ligue 2) at the last 32 stage on penalties. - No TFC player managed more than five league goals in 10-11. The club moved to address the gap left by 08-09 Ligue 1 top scorer André-Pierre Gignac's summer 2010 move to Marseille by signing Emmanuel Rivière (6 million euros from Saint-Etienne) and Umut Bulut (3.8 million euros from Trabzonspor) ahead of the 2011-12 campaign. - Toulouse did boast the second best defensive record (36 conceded) in 10-11, level with champions Lille, and behind only Rennes (35). - Toulouse coach Alain Casanova replaced Elie Baup in the summer of 2008 after 13 years as the club's assistant coach. - A goalkeeper during his playing days, Casanova spent two years at Marseille and was on the bench during OM's defeat to Red Star Belgrade (SRB) in the 1991 European Cup final in Bari, Italy. 03/30/2012 Ligue de Football Professionnel - 2011/2012 - Ligue1.com 6 Week 30 LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC KEY STATISTICS : LOSC LILLE MÉTROPOLE - TOULOUSE FC LOSC Lille Métropole Toulouse FC HOME STATISTICS AWAY STATISTICS W-L-D-W L-W-W-W 6th 6th 26 / 42 19 / 42 1.86 1.36 Win(s) 7 5 Draw(s) 5 4 Loss(es) 2 5 GF 33 14 GA 19 16 2.36 1 Yellow card(s) 20 27 Red card(s) 2 4 Form Guide Standings Points tally / Total possible Points per game Goals per game FIRST GOAL SCORED When ...
