Remember to use
your language tools.
Imagine that your friend is telling you about a website where you can make a digital animation.
Write the dialogue between you and your friend. If you like, illustrate your story in the empty boxes on the right.
1. Greet your friend.
Enter the name of your friend in the space, and use an expression of greeting that replaces “how are you?”
I say: Hi, ________________________________
_________________________________________
Friend: Hey ! I’m pretty good, how about you?
I answer: ________________________________
_________________________________________
2. Start a conversation.
Ask your friend where he/she was last night.
I say: I didn’t see you at the party last night;
_________________________________________
_________________________________________
Your friend worked until midnight.
Friend: I couldn’t come because ______________
_____________________________________
I say: Why didn’t you come to the party after work?
Friend: I was tired. I just came home and made a digital
animation.
You don’t know what that is. Ask.
I ask: ___________________________________

3. Your friend talks about his/her favorite website.
Your friend describes the website. Use the words you chose
in Describe the scene.
Friend: Yeah. It’s a really _____________________
_____________________________________ website.
4. Ask a question about it.
Ask the question you chose in Describe the scene.
I ask: ___________________________________
_________________________________________
Friend: _____________________________________
_____________________________________
5. Your friend suggests that you try it.
Your friend tells you the URL (web address) of the digital animation website. (Go to the website and click on the
link to the jibjab website.)
Friend: Jibjab is my favorite one.
Your friend suggests that you try it. He/she uses “should”.
Friend: ____________________________________
_____________________________________
Respond in the affirmative. Tell your friend your intention to make
a digital animation, and your intention to send it by e-mail.
Use “will” to express these intentions.
I ask: ___________________________________

6. Ask about getting help if you need it.
You are not sure you will understand the instructions on
the website. Tell your friend that it’s possible you will call
him/her to ask for help. Use “might” to express possibility.
(Ça se peut que…)
I say: ___________________________________

7. Make an animation.
Go to the recommended website. Follow the instructions and make
an animation! You will need to have at least one digital picture of
a person saved in a file in your computer.
8. Send it to your friend.
You can send your digital animation to a friend by following
the instructions on the website. If you want, and if your teacher
agrees, send it to your teacher!

9. Tying things up.
Check what you would do next. Note that there might be one choice that is a little odd!
❑
❑
❑
Make a funny, animated birthday card using the website my friend told me about and e-mail it to my
mom.
Ask friends and family if it’s OK to use their pictures in these animations. I want to respect everyone’s
privacy.
Invent my own digital animation website, using claymation techniques. It is a big hit and people all over
the world use it.
Now practise your dialogue with a friend, a classmate or a family member.

Go back to Describe the scene and explain it in your own words.
Explain to the person the role he or she is playing. Read out all parts
of the dialogue to help you explain this.
Act out the scene with the other person.
Tell the person how you illustrated your story.
Who did you practise the dialogue with? _________________________
