VISIT THE WHOLESALE MARKETS OF NICE Why visit the Nice wholesale markets ? The history of the Wholesale Market goes back to 1861 when it was located in the Old Town of Nice. That was the golden age of the Nice markets when, according to the season, various vegetables, fruits and flowers from the whole region were on offer. By 1965, it had outgrown its space and was moved to the Saint Augustin quarter. Shortly thereafter, it acquired the status of a Market of National Interest (MNI), which is managed by SOMINICE, and today, many meat and seafood wholesalers have joined the flower, fruit and vegetable vendors, thus offering an incomparable choice of food products to businesses. The MNI are easily accessible and welcome the public for diverse events. A visit to the MNI is a way of meeting many dynamic companies that are at the heart of the regional economy. Mornings, a plethora of activity greets the visitor, and meeting the traders is a way of becoming familiar with the many channels in the agricultural and food sectors. Visits to the MNI, which may be of interest to local residents who want to know more about important regional actors, are reserved for groups: associations, companies, school groups, businesses (restaurant or hotel owners, etc.). Visitors from other regions: tourists or farmers, high school or university students, business travellers or botany lovers are among the many groups that may enjoy a visit (see our special programmes). transglobe Paris, 7 rue de Clichy, F 75009 Paris tél. : +33 (0)1.42.81.31.13 fax : +33 (0)1.42.81.39.43 email : [email protected] transglobe Azur, 188 chemin du Vallon Notre Dame, F 06140 Vence tél. : +33 (0)4.93.58.79.00 fax :+33 (0)4.93.58.79.05 email : [email protected] www.transglobe.fr How is a visit organised ?
