Federal, provincial and municipal governments support the Mount Lehman Road 4-Laning
project in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD ʹThe governments of Canada and British Columbia, along with the City of
Abbotsford, are making infrastructure investments that will help create jobs and grow the
middle class today while building a strong foundation for a sustainable future.
That is why Jati Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, on behalf of
the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Darryl Plecas,
MLA for Abbotsford South, today announced $20 million in federal and provincial funding for
the Mount Lehman Road 4-laning project in Abbotsford.
Mount Lehman Road is a north-south provincial route that accommodates local, regional and
international vehicle travel. It serves as the primary access to the Abbotsford International
Airport, and connects the movement of people and goods to the Canada/USA border and
beyond.
The project involves the widening of Mount Lehman Road from two lanes to four between
north of Simpson Road to north of the airport, for a distance of approximately two kilometres.
Additional road work includes intersection improvements along the corridor as well as
improved lighting and roadway drainage.
Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to add Mount Lehman Road to their route with plans for
bike lanes on both sides of the road.
This lane expansion will improve safety and efficiency on Mount Lehman Road, as well as
accommodate pressures from projected growth in the local, regional and international
economies over the next 25 years.
The Government of Canada will be contributing up to $8,375,000 to this project through the
New Building Canada Fund Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure ComponentʹNational and
Regional Projects. The Province of British Columbia will be providing up to $11,625,000 and the
City of Abbotsford will contribute $2,000,000, for a total project cost of $22,000,000.

Les administrations fédérale, provinciale et municipale soutiennent le projet d͛élargissement
à quatre voies de la route Mount Lehman à Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD ʹLes gouvernements du Canada et de la Colombie-Britannique, ainsi que la Ville
d͛Abbotsford, font des investissements dans des infrastructures qui permettront de créer des
emplois et de faire croître la classe moyenne aujourd͛hui tout en jetant des bases solides pour
un avenir durable.
C͛est pour cette raison que Jati Sidhu, député de Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, au nom de
l͛honorable Amarjeet Sohi, ministre de l͛Infrastructure et des Collectivités, et Darryl Plecas,
député provincial d͛Abbotsford-Sud, ont annoncé aujourd͛hui un financement fédéral et
provincial de 20 millions de dollars pour le projet d͛élargissement à 4 voies de la route Mount
Lehman à Abbotsford.
La route Mount Lehman est une route provinciale nord-sud servant à la circulation locale,
régionale et internationale. Elle constitue le principal accès à l͛Aéroport international
d͛Abbotsford et permet la circulation des biens et des personnes entre autres vers la frontière
Canada-É.-U.
Le projet consiste à élargir la route Mount Lehman de deux à quatre voies entre le nord du
chemin Simpson et le nord de l͛aéroport, sur une distance d͛environ deux kilomètres. Les
travaux comprennent aussi l͛amélioration des intersections le long du corridor et l͛amélioration
des dispositifs d͛éclairage et du drainage de la route.
Les cyclistes et les piétons pourront ajouter la route Mount Lehman à leur trajet puisqu͛on
prévoit aménager des pistes cyclables des deux côtés de la route.
L͛élargissement à quatre voies permettra d͛améliorer la sécurité et l͛efficacité de la route
Mount Lehman et de répondre à la croissance prévue des économies locales, régionales et
internationales au cours des 25 prochaines années.
Le gouvernement du Canada allouera une contribution maximale de 8 375 000 $ pour ce projet
dans le cadre des Projets nationaux et régionaux du volet Infrastructures provincialesterritoriales du Nouveau Fonds Chantiers Canada. La province de la Colombie-Britannique
allouera jusqu͛à 11 625 000 $ et la Ville d͛Abbotsford versera 2 000 000 $ pour le projet d͛un
coût total de 22 000 000 $.
