I. Course description
By the end of the year, students should show more confidence when expressing themselves in French
orally, in writing and in dealing with unknown material. Students will also learn how to make
complex sentences and express their ideas in details. Finally, students will be more aware of cultural
differences, of the French speaking world, its history, music and literature.
II. Course textbook
Vitamine 2, « méthode de français » C. Martin, D. Pastor, 2009, CLE international.
(Un livre de l’élève + un cahier d’exercices avec un CD audio et un portfolio)
III. Objectives
The course aims to give students the means to:
A. express themselves in French about looks and feelings, chores, holidays
B. read and speak more confidently,
C. Use present.
D. Deal with daily situations in the target language.
E. Increase their understanding of cultural differences.
IV. Course requirements
A. Daily lessons and in-class notes.
Students should come to class with a lined A4 size notebook, a file (with pack plastic sleeves), pens,
pencils, and the textbook.
Students will be expected to present their work neatly and have their books covered.
In addition, students will be expected to take notes more and more independently over the course of
the year.
B. Homework.
New grammar concepts or vocabulary will be explained and practised in class everyday: they should
be practised at home the same day in order to ensure progress. In addition, written assignments will be
given after each lesson.
Tasks to be completed orally or reading exercises will also be given. Those will be followed by an
assessment in class.
C. Quizzes and tests.
Quizzes will be given about grammar or vocabulary from the previous lesson in class, about the lesson
that just took place. Some quizzes will test student’s communication skills.
Students will be tested regularly on different skills: oral and written comprehension, as well writing
assessment. There are 2 oral quizzes per semester.

V. Course grading
Student’s GPA of each year is based on the following:
 Semester exams (40%)
(20% each)
 Mid semester exams (10%) ( 5% each)
 The four quarters (50%)
(12,5% each)
The grade of each quarter is based on the following:
 Test and Quizzes (50%)
 Class work and class participation (20%)
 Homework and projects (20%)
 Behavior (10%) (including attendance)
 Tests and Quizzes 50%
All tests and quizzes must be signed by parents. There will be quizzes (written or oral) and
2 Mid Semester Exams.

Class work and class participation 20% :
 5% Daily in class warm up
 5% Binder /portfolio/notebook check
 5% speech/presentation/in class participation
 5% for trying to speak in French as much as possible.
Overall, it is essential that the students use French in class and help with the life of the class: listen
and contribute to class activities, as well as respect others so that every student in the class has the
opportunity to learn and express themselves. Marks will be deducted if a student comes without a pen,
a notebook or book.

Homework 20%:
 50% completion
 20% neatness
 30% correctness
Each homework should be done by the students themselves and presented clearly with his name on it.
No late H.W will be accepted only in case if the student doesn’t understand the concept and a note is
written student has up to 1 day after the teacher sits with him/her.
N.B: All students will be assessed on their oral work in CW&HW, CP and Quizzes that will be
counted as 25% of each grade.

Behaviour 10%:
Students' behavior grade will be based on a point system of 10 points. Each class will begin with 10
points and points will be deducted as follows:
Absence: The student will lose -2 from CP1 for each absence.
Miscellaneous behavioral issues (talking, etc.)
Overall, only students whom do never disrupt the class and come on time to the lessons will be
awarded the full mark.

Civilisation (habitudes alimentaires en France).
Vocabulaire des meubles, les locatifs, les actions écologiques, les actions de la journée et les
repas.
Révision des partitifs.
Term 3 : (unité 7)










Exprimer des sensations.
Donner son adresse.
Se localiser.
Parler d’une ville.
Ecrire une lettre.
Les expressions avec verbe « avoir ».
L’expression de la cause, les prépositions de lieu.
Vocabulaire des sensations, l’adresse..
Révision des partitifs.
Le pronom « on ».
Term 4 : (unité 8)

Décrire le temps qu’il fait.
