ALAN L. LANDAY, PHD
Dr Alan Landay est professeur et président du Département d'immunologie / microbiologie au Rush
University Medical Center à Chicago. Il a été impliqué dans la recherche du VIH pour près de 30 ans
après avoir réalisé quelques-unes des premières évaluations immunitaires des hémophiles infectés
par le VIH en 1982 tout en complétant un stage postdoctoral à l'Université de l'Alabama,
Birmingham. Dr Landay joint au corps professoral Rush University Medical Center en 1983 et a aidé
à établir le programme de recherche sur le VIH, qui a grandi pour englober à la fois une attention
fondamentale et translationnelle sur des études immunitaires dans le VIH. Dr Landay servi en tant
que président du Comité national de la Commission des normes de laboratoire clinique sur la
cytométrie de flux qui a produit la première norme nationale sur la numération des CD4. Il a également servi en tant que
conseiller du College of American Pathologists, NIH et de l'OMS sur la normalisation de la numération des CD4 et siège au
Comité Bill et Melinda Gates Fondation Global Health Care Technologies. Axe de recherche actuels de M. Landay est sur la
pathogenèse immunitaire et la thérapie à base immunitaire de la maladie du VIH et il est l'ancien président du
programme de recherche Comité d'immunologie du programme NIH AIDS Clinical Trial Group et il a siégé au Comité
exécutif du Forum pour le VIH Collaborative Recherche. Dr Landay est président de l'Office des NIH Research Panel sida
sur la pathogenèse et le PI du Centre de développement de Chicago for AIDS Research. Il est également président du
Comité interagences VIH études des sciences de la femme et sert sur le Bureau du Comité sur le vieillissement au VIH et
de recherche. Il sert sur NIH, Amfar, Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation et de l'État de Californie Grant examen des
subventions et des panneaux est ancien président de la section Étude Vaccin NIH VIH. Il a été un mentor pour les plus de
15 étudiants diplômés et stagiaires postdoctoraux qui sont passés pour obtenir des postes universitaires. Dr Landay a
publié plus de 300 articles évalués par des pairs ont porté sur des études fondamentales et cliniques du VIH en mettant
l'accent sur le rôle de l'activation immunitaire et l'inflammation dans la pathogenèse et le traitement du VIH.
Dr. Alan Landay is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Immunology/Microbiology at Rush University Medical
Center in Chicago. He has been involved in HIV research for almost 30 years having performed some of the first immune
evaluations of HIV infected haemophiliacs in 1982 while completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of
Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Landay joined the faculty at Rush University Medical Center in 1983 and helped establish the
HIV research program which has grown to encompass both a basic and translational focus on immune studies in HIV. Dr.
Landay served as Chair of the National Committee of Clinical Laboratory Standards Committee on Flow Cytometry which
produced the first national standard on CD4 testing. He has also served as an advisor to the College of American
Pathologists, NIH and WHO on standardization of CD4 Testing and serves on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Global
Health Care Technologies Committee. Dr. Landay’s current research focus is on immune pathogenesis and immune based
therapy of HIV disease and he is past Chair of the Immunology Research Agenda Committee of the AIDS Clinical Trial
Group NIH Program and he has served on the Executive Committee of the Forum for HIV Collaborative Research. Dr.
Landay is Chair of the NIH Office of AIDS Research Panel on Pathogenesis and PI of the Chicago Developmental Center for
AIDS Research. He is also Chair of the Women’s Interagency HIV Studies Science Committee and serves on the Office of
AIDS Research HIV and Aging Committee. He serves on NIH, AmFar, Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation and State of
California Grant grant review panels and is past Chair of the NIH HIV Vaccine Study Section. He has served as a mentor for
over 15 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who have gone on to obtain academic positions. Dr. Landay has
published over 300 peer reviewed papers focused on basic and clinical studies of HIV with an emphasis on the role of
immune activation and inflammation in HIV pathogenesis and therapy.
