FIRST EUROPEAN CROWNS FOR DREEZEN AND DALÈ
AT KRISTIANSTAD
There were summer conditions in Sweden on the beautiful circuit at Kristianstad for the
conclusion of the CIK-FIA European Championships. Dreezen in KZ and Dalè in KZ2 were
rewarded after a weekend full of suspense. The finals were won by De Conto in KZ and
Lundberg in KZ2. Travisanutto won in KF-Junior after fierce races, while Ahmed continues to
lead the standings.
In several important respects, the Kristianstad site has attracted all of the community in Sweden. First,
the selective track promoted the drivers’ work over the engines, renewing the tradition of karting with
its many corners. The paddock is comfortable, simple but effective facilities, warm hospitality, passionate and competent team, numerous spectators, all of which completed a very positive picture with the
warm weather creating a nice touch. The conclusion of the two European Gearbox Championships has
long been uncertain because of the standard of the competitors and the scoring system to decide the
final classification.
De Conto finds the way to victory - Dreezen is European KZ Champion
A fast driver but particularly unlucky in mechanical terms since the start of the European KZ season,
the Italian Paolo De Conto (Birel-TM-B’stone) took sweet revenge by winning a Final during which he
was simply inaccessible. Second in Qualifying, the Belgian Rick Dreezen (Zanardi-Parilla-B’stone) did
not try to resist the pole sitter in Qualifying Practice, the Czech Patrik Hajek (Praga-Parilla-B’stone),
preferring to gain points that allowed him to win his first CIK-FIA European Championship after
consistently being at the forefront. The Belgian Jonathan Thonon (Praga-Parilla-B’stone) suffered a surprising drop in performance in the Prefinal, but managed to climb into the top 10 of the Final, where he
set the fastest lap and took 2nd place in the Championship. The Italian Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart-Vortex-B’stone), delayed by several incidents during the Competition, had to settle for third place in the
championship, level on points with the Dutchman Bas Lammers (Formula K-Parilla-B ‘stone), who was
always convincing. Very fast in Sweden, Britain’s Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG-Maxter-B’stone) performed well including fastest laps each time before experiencing a decline in pace in the Final.
Lundberg wins at home - Dalè is European KZ2 Champion
Shoulder to shoulder with the German Maik Siebecke (CRG-Modena-B’stone) during the Qualifying
Heats in KZ2, the Swedish Driver Douglas Lundberg (Alpha-Parilla-B’stone) achieved a great success
at home by winning first the Prefinal and then the Final ahead of the Italian Felice Tiene (CRG-MaxterB’stone), a formidable opponent and the polesitter in Qualifying Practice. The Italian Fabian Federer

(CRG-Maxter-B’stone) made up for his performance at Wackersdorf, finishing third in both races ahead
of Dutchman Menno Paauwe (Birel-TM-B’stone). The Lithuanian Simas Juodvrisis (Energy-MaxterB’stone) lost his chance to compete for the title after he was forced to quit during the Final. The Italian
Andrea Dalè finally came back to the top 5, which allowed him to win the 2014 CIK-FIA European KZ2
Championship ahead of Lundberg and Juodvirsis.
Travisanutto victorious and Ahmed still the leader in KF-Junior
The KF-Junior drivers once again were turbulent on the track and many incidents unfortunately marred
the Competition at Kristianstad. The American driver Juan Correa (Energy-TM-Vega) clearly dominated
the start of the weekend with the fastest time of Qualifying before winning five Qualifying Heats. But
the Italian Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart-Parilla-Vega) won Prefinal 1 and the Briton Daniel Ticktum (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) Prefinal 2. Although he was among the favourites, the Swedish Driver Anton Haaga
(Kosmic-LKE-Vega) failed to qualify. In the Final, the Danish Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart-VortexVega) led the dance until the last lap. He then made several errors which gave him a penalty of 10’’.
The Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (PCR-TM-Vega) had previously passed him and gained a well deserved
victory. The second place went to the Dutchman Bard Verkroost (FA Kart-TM-Vega) against Mick Junior
(Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) who made a fine comeback from 20th place. The American Devlin Defrancesco
finished a tough competition with a retirement, while Correa had to pit while in fifth and finished 18th.
The top two in the Final are relatively far back in the provisional CIK-FIA European KF-Junior Championships, so the hierarchy has not really been changed. Enaam Ahmed retains the lead with 53 points
ahead of Daniel Ticktum on 48 points, Devlin Defrancesco third with 46 points, and Mick Junior 4th
with 43 points.

Conditions estivales en Suède sur le beau circuit de Kristianstad pour la conclusion des
Championnats d’Europe CIK-FIA. Dreezen en KZ et Dalè en KZ2 ont été récompensés au
terme d’un week-end plein de suspense. Les finales ont été remportées par De Conto en KZ
et Lundberg en KZ2. Travisanutto s’est imposé en KF-Junior après des courses acharnées,
alors qu’Ahmed reste en tête au classement provisoire.
Sur plusieurs points importants, le site de Kristianstad a séduit l’ensemble de la communauté présente
en Suède. En premier lieu, le tracé sélectif favorisant le travail des pilotes par rapport aux moteurs
renouait avec la tradition du karting grâce à ses nombreux virages. Le paddock confortable, les installations simples mais efficaces, l’accueil chaleureux et compétent d’une équipe passionnée, des spectateurs en nombre, tout cela a complété un tableau très positif auquel le beau temps chaud a achevé
de donner une touche agréable. La conclusion des deux Championnats d’Europe des karts à boîte de
vitesse a longtemps été incertaine à cause du niveau des protagonistes et du décompte à opérer pour
le classement final.
De Conto retrouve le chemin de la victoire – Dreezen Champion d’Europe KZ
Pilote rapide mais particulièrement malchanceux sur le plan de la mécanique depuis le début de la
saison européenne KZ, l’Italien Paolo De Conto (Birel-TM-B’stone) a pris une belle revanche en s’imposant au cours d’une Finale pendant laquelle il fut tout simplement inaccessible. Longtemps second, le
Belge Rick Dreezen (Zanardi-Parilla-B’stone) ne cherchait pas à résister outre mesure au poleman des
Essais Qualificatifs, le Tchèque Patrik Hajek (Praga-Parilla-B’stone), préférant assurer les points qui lui
permettaient de conquérir son premier titre de Champion d’Europe CIK-FIA au terme d’un parcours
régulier aux avant-postes. Le Belge Jonathan Thonon (Praga-Parilla-B’stone) subissait une baisse de
performance surprenante en Préfinale, mais réussissait à remonter dans le top 10 de la Finale, où il
signait le meilleur tour, pour prendre la 2e place du Championnat. L’Italien Marco Ardigo (Tony KartVortex-B’stone), retardé par plusieurs incidents pendant la Compétition, devait se contenter de la 3e
place du Championnat à égalité de points avec le Hollandais Bas Lammers (Formula K-Parilla-B’stone),
toujours aussi convaincant. Très rapide en Suède, le Britannique Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG-MaxterB’stone) avait notamment réalisé tous les meilleurs tours en course avant de connaître une baisse de
rythme en Finale.
Lundberg, vainqueur sur ses terres – Dalè Champion d’Europe KZ2
Au coude à coude avec l’Allemand Maik Siebecke (CRG-Modena-B’stone) durant les Manches Qualificatives KZ2, le Suédois Douglas Lundberg (Alpha-Parilla-B’stone) remportait un grand succès à domicile

redoutable adversaire et poleman des Essais Qualificatifs. L’Italien Fabian Federer (CRG-MaxterB’stone) effaçait sa contre-performance de Wackersdorf en terminant 3e dans les deux courses devant
le Hollandais Menno Paauwe (Birel-TM-B’stone). Le Lituanien Simas Juodvrisis (Energy-Maxter-B’stone)
perdait ses chances de disputer le titre en devant renoncer au cours de la Finale. L’Italien Andrea Dalè
remontait finalement dans le top 5, ce qui lui permettait de remporter le Championnat d’Europe CIKFIA KZ2 2014 devant Lundberg et Juodvirsis.
Travisanutto victorieux et Ahmed toujours leader en KF-Junior
Les pilotes KF-Junior se montrés encore une fois turbulents en piste et de nombreux incidents ont
malheureusement émaillé la Compétition de Kristianstad. Le pilote américain Juan Correa (Energy-TMVega) a nettement dominé le début du week-end en réalisant le meilleur temps des Essais Qualificatifs
avant de remporter ses cinq Manches Qualificatives. C’est pourtant l’Italien Leonardo Lorandi (Tony
Kart-Parilla-Vega) qui s ‘imposait dans la Préfinale 1 et le Britannique Daniel Ticktum (Zanardi-ParillaVega) dans la Préfinale 2. Pourtant placé parmi les favoris, le Suédois Anton Haaga (Kosmic-LKE-Vega)
ne parvenait pas à se qualifier. En Finale, le Danois Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) qui
menait la danse jusqu’au dernier tour. Il commettait ensuite plusieurs erreurs lui valant une pénalité de
10’’. L’Italien Lorenzo Travisanutto (PCR-TM-Vega) l’avait dépassé auparavant et remportait une victoire
tout à fait méritée. La seconde place revenait au Hollandais Bard Verkroost (FA Kart-TM-Vega) face à
Mick Junior (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) très bien revenu de la 20e place. L’Américain Devlin Defrancesco
achevait une Compétition difficile sur un abandon, tandis que Correa devait passer par les stands alors
qu’il était 5e et terminait malgré tout 18e.
Les deux premiers de la Finale étant relativement loin au classement provisoire du Championnat
d’Europe CIK-FIA KF-Junior, la hiérarchie n’est pas vraiment bousculée. Enaam Ahmed conserve la tête
avec 53 points devant Daniel Ticktum 48 points, Devlin Defrancesco 3e avec 46 points, Mick Junior 4e
avec 43 points.
