Welcome to Mme.Racanelli’s grades 5 and 6 Immersion Class! My goal
is for each student to speak French fluently. I endeavour to provide
each student with as many opportunities in class to achieve this goal. I
also encourage each student to seize these opportunities to improve
his/her oral communication skills.
My web site: Please visit my web site at www.mmeracanellisclass.com.
My website provides numerous French web links to help students with
reading, writing and oral activities. There will also be up-to date
information regarding tests and helpful review questions for tests.
Agendas: I will not insist that the agendas be signed daily as we expect
homework to be the responsibility of the student and not the parent.
Agendas are a source for open communication for parents, teachers,
students and guardians. Leaving me a note or message in the agenda is
an effective way to contact me. If there are concerns of a personal
nature, please feel free to contact me by phone.
Homework: Homework will not be assigned daily. The government
guideline is for students to do a total of 50-60 minutes of homework
each evening, this includes all subjects. This may involve incomplete
class assignments, research for projects, book reports and studying for
tests. In addition, they are required to read each evening.
Tests and Evaluation: Tests are usually given at the end of most science
and social studies unit. Students are given the test dates at least 10
days prior to the test. I will be posting review questions on my web site
to help students better prepare for their tests. Only work that is
completed in class will be evaluated for reporting purposes.
Subjects taught in French: Language (oral, reading, and writing),
science, social studies and the arts (visual arts, music, drama and
dance).
I am looking forward to a successful year in the Immersion program
for all my students. I would like to take this opportunity to thank-you
in advance for your co-operation, your support and your patience.
