BREAKING
One ordinary afternoon Paul leaves his Paris office, climbs into his car and drives away. He is
heading towards the South West of France leaving behind his wife, children, friends, work…
his life.
This intimate road-movie gradually paints the portrait of a man who, without notice, suddenly
abandons the course of his life. Why? We do not know, but his journey leads us through the
wild country lands of his childhood where he visits his parents and the savage natural
environments that fed his youth, places that could explain the secret and violent motive for his
journey.
2 A film by Patrick Pineau…
Patrick Pineau is one of the best French stage actors of these last
decades. Famous in France for both his work as an actor and as a
stage director. He recently triomphed in Cyrano of Bergerac and, as
a director, he staged more than fifteen plays in National French
Theatres like Odeon National Theatre. Amongst them he directed
Peer Gynt in the « Cour d’Honneur » in Avignon Theatre Festival,
that one could consider as a life achievment for a stage-director.
In Peer Gynt, his leading actor was already Éric Elmosnino who is
most well-known for his impersonation of Serge Gainsbourg in the
biopic that won him a French Cesar and a Best Actor Prize at the
Tribeca Film Festival.
Patrick is now turning to cinema. In Briser, his first movie, he will direct Éric in this intimate
road-movie that portrays with delicacy and sometimes humour a tormented and broken soul
looking for the answer that he can only find by breaking a too long kept silence.
Patrick and Éric have somehow engaged in a long-life artistic collaboration since their early
training years at the French National Conservatoire. And the first show Patrick directed won
Éric his first French Stage Critics award as best stage actor in Garrincha, a show they perform
again this year on French stages.
