Bordmonitor und Navigation verbaut werden.

installation kit video module and TV amplifier for TV function.c

These installation instructions are intended for specialist personnel trained in BMW passenger cars and who
independently carry out all maintenance, repair, installation and readjustment jobs on passenger cars.
All jobs are to be carried out with the aid of valid BMW

in rational order with the specified tools (special tools) and in compliance with valid health and safety regulations.

The TV amplifiers on the left and right must be ordered separately in accordance with the electronic parts
catalogue (EPC) depending on the type of glazing in the vehicle (standard glazing/heat-absorbing glazing).c
Safety notes
Particular care must be taken when installing cables/lines to ensure they are not kinked, bent or damaged.
Additionally installed cables/lines must be secured with cable ties.

Preparation
Print out fault code memory.
Disconnect battery
Remove rear bench seat
Remove rear seat backrest
Remove left and right C-pillar trim panel
Remove rear window shelf
Remove luggage compartment floor
Remove navigation computer
Remove cover frame on navigation computer

self-tapping screw and serrated lock washer (4).
Plug in existing, tied-back coaxial pin housing (8) at left-hand TV amplifier (3) and firmly tighten screws.
Release existing plug connection (9).
Connect black 1-pin socket contact (10) from left-hand TV amplifier (3) to black 1-pin pin contact (11) from released
plug connection (9).

Fit M5 speed nut (6) on mounting bracket for video module (21).
Fit video module (1) on retaining studs (22) of mounting bracket for video module (21) and firmly tighten with
M5x14 hexagon screws and washer (5) on mounting bracket for video module (21).

Release tied-back white 18-pin socket housing (23) and release the two tied-back angled coaxial socket
housings (24, 25) from blue 18-pin socket housing (26), push towards rear through mounting bracket for navigation
computer (27) and route to video module.
Release blue 18-pin socket housing (29) tied back on bordeaux 18-pin socket housing (28).
Pass both socket housings (28, 29) through mounting bracket for navigation computer (27) and, while installing,
connect to navigation computer (see Fig. F).

After installing the luggage compartment trim panel on the rear left (34) and fitting the cover frame on the navigation
computer (35), the navigation computer (36) should be connected as follows.
Connect bordeaux 18-pin socket housing (28) to bordeaux 18-pin pin housing (37) at navigation computer (36).
Connect blue 18-pin socket housing (29) to blue 18-pin pin housing (38) at navigation computer (36).

Take particular care to ensure that the cables and lines are not trapped or damaged behind the
navigation computer.c
Now fit navigation computer (36) in cover frame for navigation computer (35).
Concluding jobs
Reconnect battery
Carry out function check
Print out fault code memory
Reassemble vehicle in reverse order of removal

2.3 Encoding
Notes
Refer to general information as well as safety notes in Section 1.
This system requires encoding
to ensure that the retrofit system:
– is operable to its full extent,
– this retrofit system and, if necessary, other vehicle components must be encoded in order to avoid malfunctions
and faults in conjunction with other electrical vehicle systems and stored in the central encoding code of the IKE.
This encoding procedure is conducted automatically with the current coding program in the path "Retrofit"
The procedure is user-prompted.The relevant text information provided while carrying out the individual steps must
be observed.
Procedure:
– Connect DIS/MoDiC to vehicle
– Ignition "ON"
– Selection "Encoding ZCS"
– Confirm date entry with "Y" (MoDiC only)
– Series: "E38"
– Path: "2 Retrofit"
– System: "8 Navigation"
b
"Navigation CD-ROM operating software" will be required to load the operating system.
Caution! Do not yet insert the "operating software" CD ROM in the CD drive at this point! Only insert "operating
software" CD ROM in the drive when instructed to do so in the information provided on the on-board monitor
Voice encoding is also carried out with this "operating software" CD ROM.c
– Start automatic encoding (confirm with "Y")
– Follow information provided on on-board monitor.
– Print out new label with modified encoding code and affix on vehicle in luggage compartment on right in area of
battery.
– After the message "Encoding completed" on the DIS/MoDiC monitor, switch ignition "OFF", wait at least
10 seconds before switching ignition "ON" again.
– Print out fault code memory.
– Insert "road map" CD ROM in navigation computer.
– Carry out function check
aThe DSP amplifier must be additionally recoded on vehicles with DSP amplifier.

Procedure:
– Connect DIS/MoDiC to vehicle
– Ignition "ON"

d’exécuter de façon responsable toutes les opérations d’entretien, de réparation, de montage et de réglage sur les
voitures.
Toutes ces opérations doivent être effectuées à l’aide des

– manuels de diagnostic
applicables chez BMW dans un ordre rationnel au moyen des outils spécifiés (outils spéciaux) et en tenant compte

Indications pour le montage
Des connaissances en électricité sont requises.

Les amplificateurs TV à gauche et à droite doivent être commandés séparément à l’aide du catalogue
électronique des pièces (ETK) en fonction du vitrage du véhicule (vitrage ordinaire/vitrage isolant).c
Consignes de sécurité
Veiller, au cours de la pose des câbles et des faisceaux, à ne pas les plier ni les endommager. Les câbles et
faisceaux ajoutés doivent être fixés au besoin au moyen de serre-câbles.

Préparation
Imprimer le contenu de la mémoire des défauts.
Déconnecter la batterie.
Déposer la banquette arrière.
Déposer le dossier.
Déposer la garniture du montant de custode côté gauche et droit.
Déposer la tablette arrière.
Déposer le plancher du coffre à bagages.
Déposer l’ordinateur de navigation.
Déposer le cadre de recouvrement de l’ordinateur de navigation.
Déposer la garniture arrière gauche du coffre à bagages.

Contrôler le fonctionnement.
Imprimer le contenu de la mémoire des défauts.
Remonter le véhicule en procédant par analogie dans l’ordre inverse du démontage.
