It is all about expectations.

Three studies confirm the existence of the return trip effect: The return trip often seems shorter than the initial trip, even though the
distance travelled and the actual time spent travelling are identical.
Participants felt that the initial trip took longer than they had expected. In response, they probably heightened their expectations for the
return trip. In comparison with this longer expected duration, the return trip felt short.
This had been already discovered by the most "pneumatic" Baywatch girl who was quoted as saying "it´s great being a blonde. With low
expectations it´s very easy to surprise people".
Well, we were not surprised at all when reading the findings of a study published early this year conducted by the tour operator Kuoni and
Nuffield Health, the UK´s largest healthcare charity. The report concluded that holidays are good for health. It is as simple as: holidays
help us live longer.
