Date du festival : du 3 au 9 avril 2017
L’esprit du festival : L’objectif du festival est de tisser un réseau d’échange entre
la France, les îles des Caraïbes et les États-Unis, afin de faire découvrir les danses
contemporaines des Caraïbes au grand public, de favoriser les échanges culturels,
de partager des savoirs et de déconstruire les stéréotypes subis par ces pratiques
artistiques. Il permet aussi de montrer qu’il est possible de s’émanciper par les
arts. C’est un projet artistique de recherche, et de formation en danse et en
musique autour des danses contemporaines des Caraïbes, et principalement la
technique Dunham et la techni’Ka. Il a pour but de faire une rencontre entre 2
cultures et 2 histoires : Culture Afro-américaine/ culture Caribéenne, Technique
Dunham / Techni’Ka.
La résidence artistique : Devenir membre du Collectif Focus Ka c’est vivre une
semaine d’immersion dans l’univers des danses contemporaines des Caraïbes.
Elle permet au candidat de se former dans ces techniques qui sont peu pratiquées
en France hexagonale auprès de Master teacher de renommées internationales.
Le travail de résidence sera restitué durant les rencontres chorégraphiques et une
attestation sera remise en fin de semaine.
Pour devenir membre du Collectif Focus Ka :
• Être danseur-euse professionnel-le ou amateur-rice avec un niveau avancé
• Avoir l’expérience de la scène
• Être dans une démarche de création et de recherche artistique
• Avoir de l’intérêt pour les danses contemporaines des Caraïbes
• Être disponible durant toute la semaine de résidence (cf planning)

tout désistement après le 12 mars 2017.

The festival spirit : The goal of the festival is to create a sharing network between
France, West Indies and United States to discover contemporary Caribbean dance
for all, to promote the cultural sharing, and to break the stereotypes about this arts.
It allows to show that it possible to emancipate though the arts.
« Focus Danses Caraïbes » is an artistic project in research, and training about the
contemporary caribbean dance and specially in Dunham technique and techni’Ka.
It make a meeting between two culture, two story : african-american culture/
caribbean culture, Dunham technique and Techni’Ka.
The artistic residency : Be a member of the Focus Ka Community is to live a
week of immersion in the contemporary caribbean dances way. This residency
make it possible in France to improve this both technique which are not so practice
in Paris, with international renowned master teachers. The residency’s work will be
performed during the choreographic performance in the theater, and an attestation
will be given.
To be a member of Focus Ka Collective you have to :
• Be a professional dancer or not with a confirmed level
• Have experience in performance
• Be in a creative and artistic research way
• Be interested by the contemporary caribbean dances
• Be free during the residency week (cf the schedule attached)
