Comment réaliser une cuisine fonctionnelle
How to create a practical kitchen
La notion du triangle de travail utilise trois
points de repère :
Zone de rangement : garde-manger, réfrigérateur,
Zone de nettoyage : évier, lave-vaisselle,
Zone de cuisson : cuisinière, plaque de cuisson,
four encastré.
The work triangle concept consists of three
reference points:
Storage zone: pantry, fridge
Cleaning zone: sink, dishwasher
Cooking zone: stove, cooktop, built-in oven
Cette méthode consiste à dessiner un triangle
entre les trois aires. Le but de l’exercice
consiste à limiter les déplacements en
réduisant le plus possible la distance entre
chaque zone.

This method consists of drawing a triangle
between the three areas. The goal of this
exercise is to limit movements by reducing the
space between each zone.

Cuisine laboratoire
Dans ce concept, tous les électroménagers et les armoires sont
disposés en ligne, sur un seul mur. De cette façon, la notion
de triangle de travail ne s’applique pas mais plutôt celle de
la ligne droite. Il est spécialement conçu pour les plus petites
cuisines. Ce concept, utilisé pour une grande pièce, donnerait
une distance trop grande entre chaque zone.
Cet agencement met à votre disposition deux zones de travail
et de rangement. Il est idéal pour les petites pièces comportant
une fenêtre ou une porte à son extrémité. Assurez-vous de
prévoir un minimum de 48’’ entre chaque rangée d’armoires
afin d’avoir l’espace nécessaire pour vos déplacements et
l’ouverture complète des portes et des tiroirs. Il est important de ne pas disposer les électroménagers l’un en face de
l’autre. On évite ainsi les accrochages si vous êtes plusieurs
à cuisiner.
Wall to wall kitchen
In this concept, the work triangle is replaced by a straight line.
All electrical appliances and cabinets are lined together on one
wall. This concept was especially designed for smaller kitchens. It
cannot be applied to larger rooms for it would leave too much
space between each zone.

Laboratory kitchen
This layout provides two work and storage zones. Perfect for
small rooms that have a window or door at one end. Make
sure you leave a minimum of 48” between each cabinet row
to allow yourself enough space to move around and that every
door and drawer can fully open. Avoid placing electrical
appliances in front of each other. This will avoid bumping into
others when many are using the kitchen at the same time.

table de cuisine ou un îlot, ce plan est idéal. Il s’agit de

“L” shaped kitchen
This is the more commonly used concept. This layout is perfect
if you wish to have a kitchen table or island. The trick is to
allocate electrical appliances on the two walls that you use. In
this way, you get a perfect work triangle. Make sure you allow
enough work space between each zone.

C’est assurément le meilleur agencement lorsque vous êtes plus
d’une personne à travailler dans la cuisine. Il offre avantageusement plusieurs surfaces de travail. Cependant, la cuisine en
« U » nécessite une pièce de plus grandes dimensions. Vous

“U” shaped kitchen
The best layout when many people work in the kitchen at the
same time. It provides many work surfaces. However, the “U”
shaped kitchen requires a larger room. You must consider a
minimum of 48’’ between each cabinet row, to allow yourself
enough space to move around and to allow doors and drawers
to fully open.
Cuisine avec un îlot
Un îlot vous assure un surplus d’espace de rangement et de
surface de travail. Il rend aussi la tâche plus facile lorsque
plusieurs personnes y travaillent. Ce concept exige une
pièce assez grande pour contenir l’îlot. Il est recommandé
de prévoir un espace de dégagement d’un minimum de 36’’
autour de l’îlot tout en planifiant un espace de 42’’ à 48’’
vis-à-vis du réfrigérateur. L’îlot peut aussi servir de coin-repas
en agrandissant la surface de comptoir et en ajoutant des
tabourets.
Kitchen with an island
An island allows you extra storage and work space. It also
makes it easier for many people to work at the same time.
This concept requires a big enough room to fit the island. It is
recommended to plan a minimum 36” clearing space around
the island as well as a space between 42’’ to 48’’ in front of
the fridge. The island can also be used as a dining space by
expanding the counter surface and by adding stools.
