2006 kommt zum neunten Mal aus
Salzburg, der Geburtstadt von Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart, der Ruf zum Mozart
Wettbewerb!
Er kommt vom Mozarteum, das sich
seit 160 Jahren in Salzburg der Musikausbildung verpflichtet.
Von der Musikschule über die Akademie
und die Hochschule hat sich diese weltbekannte Salzburger Einrichtung zur
Universität entwickelt – so will es das
österreichische Gesetz. Das ist ein
Prädikat für beste Ausbildung oder für
künstlerische Vielfalt, die heute im
Medienzeitalter wieder so interessant
ist. Wir sind dabei, es zu erproben!
Seit dem Jahr 2000 hatte die Universität
Mozarteum zwei völlig verschiedene
Universitätsgesetze umzusetzen. Gleichzeitig bauen wir! Das Mozarteum Hauptgebäude am Mirabellplatz entsteht neu
und soll 2006 eröffnet werden.

Diese Vorgeschichte sollte man wissen,
um zu verstehen, warum der Mozart
Wettbewerb 2006 etwas anders ausfällt
als zuvor.
Er wird im Sommer 2006 sein. Mitten in
der Zeit der internationalen Salzburger
Festspiele. Das Preisträgerkonzert ist Teil
des Festspielprogramms. Die Sieger
werden sich daher einem internationalen Publikum präsentieren und hoffentlich vielen internationalen Agenten und
Korrespondenten.
Im Jahr 2006 wird es auch nur Sieger
einer Sparte geben: wir rufen die besten
Mozartsängerinnen und -sänger auf,
nach Salzburg zum Wettbewerb zu
kommen. Dies im Mozartjahr 2006 –
noch mehr Herausforderung ist nicht
möglich.
Wenn alles gut geht beim Bauen, findet
die Austragung bereits in den neuen
Konzerträumen der Universität Mozarteum statt.
Ich lade Sie herzlich ein, diesem außergewöhnlichen Ruf nach Salzburg für
2006 zu folgen. Es wird ein Fest der
besten jungen Stimmen für und mit
W. A. Mozart sein! Ob Sie in Korea,
China, Japan, Australien, USA, Mexiko,
Argentinien, in Südafrika oder in der EU
wohnen, studieren: Sie sind herzlich
willkommen, hier mit Ihrer Stimme und
Interpretationskunst zu beweisen, dass
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart als Komponist in aller Welt zu Hause ist und viele
Sängerinnen und Sänger animiert, ihn
immer wieder aufs Neue zu interpretieren, ihn zu erobern.

In 2006 the Mozart Competition will be
held for the ninth time in Salzburg, the
city where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
was born. The competition is organised
by the Mozarteum, responsible for musical education in Salzburg for 160
years. This world renowned institution
began as a music school, became an
academy and is now a university
according to Austrian law.
The Mozarteum University has had to
implement two completely different
university laws since 2000. Furthermore
we are in the process of completely
re-constructing the former Mozarteum
main building on the Mirabellplatz
which is to be opened in 2006.
It is necessary to be aware of this background so as to understand why the
Mozart Competition will be somewhat
different in 2006 from previous years.
It will take place in the summer of 2006
in the midst of the international Salzburg Festival. The concert of prizewinners is part of the programme of the
Festival. The winners will therefore have
an opportunity to play in front of an
international audience which we hope
will also include many international
agents and media correspondents.
In Mozart Year 2006 there will only be
winners in one division: voice. We are
appealing to the best Mozart singers to
come to Salzburg to take part in the
competition in 2006 — there can hardly
be a greater challenge.
If everything goes according to plan as
regards building work, the competition
rounds will take place in the new concert rooms of the Mozarteum University.
I should like to invite you most warmly
to accept this extraordinary appeal to
come to Salzburg in 2006. It promises to
be a festival of the best young voices for
Mozart! It does not matter whether you
live in Argentina, Australia, China,
in countries of the EU, Japan, Korea,
Mexico, South Africa or the USA — you
are cordially welcome to prove here
with your voice what fascination Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart holds for singers
as well as testifying to his worldwide
renown as a composer.

Salzbourg
C’est la neuvième fois que Salzbourg, ville
natale de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,
organise un Concours Mozart, en 2006 !
Le Mozarteum, qui est en charge depuis
160 ans de l’éducation musicale à Salzbourg, lance aujourd’hui cette invitation.
Tout d’abord simple École de musique,
puis Académie et École supérieure de
musique, cette institution salzbourgeoise célèbre dans le monde entier est
désormais élevée au rang d’Université,
en vertu de la loi autrichienne. Il s’agit
ici d’un prédicat synonyme d’enseignement de haut niveau ou de diversité
artistique, si intéressant à notre époque
médiatique. Nous sommes en train
d’en faire l’expérience !
Depuis l’an 2000, l’Université Mozarteum
a mis en application deux lois universitaires totalement différentes. En même
temps nous construisons ! L’ancien
bâtiment principal du Mozarteum, situé
Mirabellplatz, est en cours de reconstruction et doit être rouvert en 2006.
Il faut connaître ces préliminaires pour
comprendre pourquoi le Concours
Mozart de 2006 sera différent de tous
ceux qui ont précédé.

Il aura lieu au cours de l’été 2006. En
plein Festival de Salzbourg, au renom
international. Le concert des lauréats
fera partie du programme du Festival.
De cette sorte, les lauréats pourront se
présenter à un public international et
certainement à de nombreux directeurs
et correspondants d’agences artistiques
internationales.
En 2006, nous ne couronnerons de
lauréats que dans un seul domaine:
nous invitons les meilleurs chanteurs
et chanteuses mozartiens à participer
au Concours à Salzbourg. Au cours
de l’année Mozart 2006 – c’est incontestablement un défi encore
plus important.
Si rien ne vient retarder les travaux
de reconstruction, le concours se
déroulera dans les nouvelles salles
de concerts de l’Université Mozarteum.
Je vous invite donc très cordialement à
répondre à cet appel exceptionnel et à
venir à Salzbourg en 2006. Ce sera une
fête des meilleures voix jeunes pour et
avec W. A. Mozart! Que vous habitiez

WETTBEWERBSBEDINGUNGEN
Der 9. Internationale Mozart-Wettbewerb Salzburg wird von der Universität
Mozarteum Salzburg in Zusammenarbeit
mit den Salzburger Festspielen in der
Zeit vom 7. bis 16. August 2006
in der Sparte Gesang im Rahmen
der Salzburger Festspiele 2006
veranstaltet.
Zur Teilnahme berechtigt sind Musikerinnen und Musiker aller Nationen.
Die Jury setzt sich aus bedeutenden
Persönlichkeiten der internationalen
Musikwelt zusammen. Die Entscheidungen der Jury sind unanfechtbar.
GESANG
■ Der Wettbewerb wird vom
7.–16. August 2006 in Salzburg,
Österreich, ausgetragen. Die Prüfungen
sind öffentlich.
■ Anmeldeschluss: 1. 3. 2006
(Datum des Poststempels).

wicklung, zwei Empfehlungsschreiben
von hervorragenden Künstlerpersönlichkeiten, ein Hochglanzfoto (10 x 15 cm)
im Hochformat sowie zwei Passfotos.
■ Zusätzlich ist die Einsendung einer
Videokassette (nicht DVD) mit mindestens zwei Werken aus dem eingereichten
Programm (darunter eine Arie) gleichzeitig mit der Anmeldung erforderlich.
Über die Zulassung zum Wettbewerb
entscheidet eine vom Hauptausschuss
eingesetzte vorbereitende Jury, bestehend aus Professoren der Abteilung
für Gesang der Universität Mozarteum
Salzburg. Gewinner von internationalen
Wettbewerben sind von der Zusendung
einer Videokassette und der Übermittlung der Empfehlungsschreiben
befreit. Das eingesandte Material
verbleibt im Wettbewerbsbüro.
■ Die Bewerberinnen und Bewerber
werden gebeten, das beiliegende Anmeldeformular in deutlicher Blockschrift
oder mit Schreibmaschine ausgefüllt,

Auf dem Einzahlungsformular ist der
vollständige Name anzugeben. Eine
Rückerstattung der Anmeldegebühr bei
Verhinderung der/des Gemeldeten kann
nicht erfolgen. Nach Erhalt der Zulassungsbestätigung und nach Einlangen
der Anmeldegebühr sind die Bewerberinnen und Bewerber zur Teilnahme
am Wettbewerb berechtigt.
■ Für die Unterbringung haben die
Teilnehmer selbst zu sorgen. Eine
Hotel- bzw. Unterkunftsliste wird vom
Wettbewerbsbüro gemeinsam mit der
Zulassungsbestätigung übermittelt.
Teilnehmende, deren Wohnort (Studienort) außerhalb Salzburgs liegt und die
den 2. Durchgang erreichen, erhalten als
Spesenersatz EUR 50 pro Tag. Ausgenommen hievon sind Studierende der
Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.
■ Die Termine für das erste Vorsingen
werden den Teilnehmenden zusammen
mit der Zulassungsbestätigung schriftlich mitgeteilt. Sie müssen mindestens
einen Tag vor dem ersten Vorsingen persönlich im Wettbewerbs-Sekretariat den
Teilnehmerausweis abholen und
Übezimmer reservieren. Sie bestätigen
durch ihre Anmeldung, sich während
der Dauer des Wettbewerbes von allen
beruflichen Verpflichtungen freizuhalten
und sich am Wettbewerbsort Salzburg
aufzuhalten. Eine örtliche Veränderung
während der aktiven Teilnahme am
Wettbewerb ist mit der Wettbewerbsleitung abzusprechen.
■ Klavierbegleiterinnen und Klavierbegleiter werden von der Wettbewerbsleitung zur Verfügung gestellt. Eigene
Begleiter können mitgebracht werden,
wenn die Kosten von den Kandidaten
selbst getragen werden (genaue
Angaben im Anmeldeformular). Falls
diese Klavierbegleiter den Ansprüchen
des Wettbewerbes nicht genügen,
können sie durch jene des Hauses
ersetzt werden.
■ Die Reihenfolge der Teilnehmenden
wird ausgelost und während des gesamten Wettbewerbes beibehalten, ausgenommen den Durchgang mit Orchester
sowie bei „force majeure“.
■ Die Entscheidungen über die Ergebnisse des Wettbewerbes werden durch
die Jury getroffen, sind unwiderruflich
und unanfechtbar. Ausgeschiedene
Teilnehmer und Teilnehmerinnen haben
die Möglichkeit, sich von der Jury
beraten zu lassen.
■ Die Gewinnerinnen und Gewinner
werden am 16. August 2006 in einem
Orchesterkonzert im Rahmen der Salzburger Festspiele vorgestellt. Dieses
Orchesterkonzert wird vom Mozarteum
Orchester Salzburg unter der Leitung
von Dennis Russell Davies durchgeführt. Die Preisverleihung erfolgt in
Verbindung mit diesem Schlusskonzert.
Alle Preisträgerinnen und Preisträger
sind verpflichtet, am Schlusskonzert
des Wettbewerbes unentgeltlich
mitzuwirken. Die Einverständniserklärungen der Preisträgerinnen
und Preisträger gelten mit der Anmeldung zum Wettbewerb als gegeben.
Die Preisträgerinnen und Preisträger
haben im Falle einer Rundfunk- bzw.
TV- und Internet-Übertragung des
Konzertes keinen Anspruch auf
Vergütung. Vertreter des internationalen
Konzert- und Theaterwesens sowie der
Medien werden zum Schlusskonzert
eingeladen.
■ Die Wettbewerbsleitung behält sich
vor, sowohl die Wettbewerbsdurchgänge
wie auch das Schlusskonzert aufzuzeichnen um sie für eine spätere
Veröffentlichung und allfällige Verwertung zu verwenden. Mit der Anmeldung
zum Wettbewerb übertragen die Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten sämtliche
Rechte dieser Aufnahmen ohne Anspruch auf Vergütung an die Universität.
Die Universität Mozarteum Salzburg
erhält somit allein und uneingeschränkt
sämtliche Urheber- und Leistungsschutzrechte.
■ Der Wettbewerbsveranstalter haftet
nicht für Personen- und Sachschäden,
die im Zusammenhang mit Veranstaltungen des Wettbewerbes entstehen.
■ Bei einer allfälligen Dokumentation
des Wettbewerbes durch ein Fernsehteam, erklären sich die Teilnehmer damit
einverstanden, an dieser Dokumentation
teilzunehmen und sämtliche Rechte
bezüglich dieser Produktion an die
Universität Mozarteum Salzburg zu
übertragen.
■ In Zweifelsfällen ist der deutsche Text
maßgebend!

COMPETITION CONDITIONS
The 9th International Mozart Competition
in Salzburg will be organized by the
Mozarteum University in collaboration
with the Salzburg Festival from 7–16
August 2006 in the discipline voice
during the Salzburg Festival.
Singers from all nations are invited to
participate.
The jury consists of prominent personalities from the international world of
music. Decisions made by the jury are
final.
VOICE
■ The competition will be held from
7–16 August 2006 in Salzburg, Austria.
The preliminary rounds are open to the
public.
■ Closing date for entries:
1 March 2006 (date of postmark).
■ Age limit: Female and male singers
born after 1 January 1974.

■ The following documents are to be
included with the entry form: birth
certificate (copy); curriculum vitae
giving details of artistic development.
Two letters of recommendation by
prominent personalities from the artistic
world.
A glossy photo (10 x 15 cm) in vertical
format as well as two passport photos.
■ It is also necessary to send together
with the entry form a video cassette
(not DVD) containing at least two works
from the submitted programme (including an aria). A preparatory jury appointed by the main committee and
consisting of professors from the
singing department of the Salzburg
Mozarteum University will decide who
will be allowed to take part in the
competition. Winners of previous international competitions do not need to
send in a video cassette and letters of
recommendation. All submitted
material remains in the property of
the competition office.
■ Applicants are requested to send
the enclosed entry form completed in
clear block letters or written with a
typewriter to the following address:

■ Confirmation of registration will be
sent out after 10 April 2006. With this
confirmation foreign participants can,
where necessary, immediately apply for
an entry visa.
Entries which do not meet the requirements of the competition will be turned
down.
If necessary the competition executive
committee can impose a limitation on
the number of participants.
■ The registration fee of EUR 160
should not be transferred to the account
of the Mozarteum University Salzburg
until confirmation of registration has

All payments must be made free of
charges to the payee. Please do not
send any money in letters!
Do not forget to state your full name
on the payment slip. There can be no
reimbursement of the registration fee if
the registered entrant is prevented from
entering the competition for whatever
reason.
After receipt of the confirmation of
registration and after payment of the
registration fee, applicants are entitled
to take part in the competition.
■ Participants are responsible for
arranging their own accommodation.
A list of hotels and other accommodation possibilities will be forwarded by
the competition office together with
the registration confirmation.
■ Participants whose place of residence
(or place of study) is outside Salzburg
and who reach the second round, will
be awarded an expense allowance of
EUR 50 per day. Students at the
Mozarteum University are not entitled
to this allowance.
■ Participants will be informed in writing of the dates of the first audition
when they receive the registration confirmation. They must present themselves
personally in the competition office at
least one day before the first audition. With their registration they confirm that throughout the duration of
the competition they are free of all professional obligations and will remain in
Salzburg. A change of temporary residence during the competition must be
clarified with the competition executive
committee.
■ Piano accompanists will be provided
by the competition executive committee.
Participants may bring their own
accompanists if the costs are covered by
the candidates themselves (precise details should be given on the entry form).
If the piano accompanists do not meet
the standards of the competition, they
can be replaced by ones appointed by
the competition executive committee.

Representatives of the international
concert and theatre business as well as
the media will be invited to the final
concert.
■ The order of participants will be
drawn by lots and retained throughout
the entire competition, except the round
with orchestra or in the case of force
majeure.
■ The competition executive committee
reserves the right to record all rounds
of the competition and the final concert
and to use them for later publication.
By registering to take part in the
competition, candidates confer all
rights on these recordings to the
Mozarteum University. The Salzburg
Mozarteum University thereby obtains
the sole and unlimited copyright as
regards all rounds of the competition
and the final concert.
■ Decisions about the results of the
competition made by the jury are
incontestable and irrevocable. Participants who do not progress to subsequent rounds will have the chance to
seek advice from the jury.
■ The winners of a first prize will be
presented on 16 August 2006 in an orchestral concert as part of the Salzburg
Festival. This orchestral concert will be
performed by the Mozarteum
Orchestra Salzburg conducted by Dennis
Russell Davies. The prize giving ceremony will be integrated into this final
concert. All prize winners are obliged to
perform in the final concert of the competition for no fee. The declarations of
consent of prize winners as regards this
point are considered to be automatically
given with registration of participation
in the competition. In the case of a

RÈGLEMENT DU CONCOURS
Dans le cadre du Festival de Salzbourg,
l’Université Mozarteum organise,
en collaboration avec le Festival de
Salzbourg, le 9ème Concours International Mozart qui se déroulera
entre le 7 et le 16 août 2006 dans
la catégorie chant.
Il est ouvert aux musiciens des deux
sexes et de toutes les nations.
Le jury se compose de personnalités
renommées du monde international de
la musique. Les décisions du jury ne
peuvent être contestées.

Ce concert aura lieu avec le concours de
l’Orchestre Mozarteum Salzbourg placé
sous la direction de Dennis Russell Davies. La remise des prix aura lieu dans le
cadre de ce concert de clôture. Tous les
lauréats et lauréates s’engagent à participer gratuitement au concert de clôture
du Concours. L’accord des lauréates et
lauréats est considéré comme acquis par
l’inscription au Concours. Au cas où ce
concert serait retransmis à la radio ou à
la télévision ou sur Internet, les lauréa-
tes et lauréats n’ont droit à aucune
indemnité. Les représentants internationaux des organisations de concerts ou
de théâtres ainsi que les médias seront
invités au concert de clôture.
■ La Direction du Concours se réserve
le droit d’enregistrer les différentes

Zum 50. Todestag Mozarts, im Jahre
1841, wurde das Orchester als „Dommusikverein und Mozarteum“ von
Salzburger Bürgern mit Hilfe der Witwe
des Meisters, Constanze Nissen,
und der Söhne Carl und Franz Xaver
Mozart gegründet. 1939 löste sich
das Mozarteum Orchester von der Internationalen Stiftung Mozarteum und
von der Musikschule (heute Universität)
Mozarteum. Seit damals ist es eine
selbständige Institution und seit 1958
das Symphonieorchester von Stadt und
Land Salzburg.
Im Mittelpunkt der vielfältigen künstlerischen Arbeit steht Mozart und die
Musik der Wiener Klassik. Bei den
Salzburger Festspielen gestaltet das
Kollektiv mit prominenten Dirigenten
und Solisten die Mozart-Matineen,
spielt aber auch im Musiktheater eine
bedeutende Rolle. In Konzerten der
Mozartwoche und bei den zahlreichen,
weltweiten Tourneen steht ebenfalls
die Klassik im Zentrum. Das Orchester
ist ein wesentlicher Botschafter des
Musiklandes Österreich.
Neben den jährlich etwa 80 Musiktheater-Vorstellungen für das Salzburger Landestheater und den Konzerten
mit großem symphonischen Repertoire
für die Salzburger Kulturvereinigung
gestaltet das Orchester seit der Saison
2003/04 einen eigenen Zyklus im
Großen Saal des Mozarteums, unterstützt von der Internationalen Stiftung
Mozarteum. Darüber hinaus setzt sich
das Orchester für zeitgenössische Musik
ein und ist wesentlicher Träger des
stART Festivals aktueller Musik. Auftritte
beim Salzburger Jazz-Herbst, mit Bobby
McFerrin in der Salzburg Arena, die
Kammermusik-Vereinigungen und
Jugendkonzerte runden das Bild. Seit
Herbst 2004 leitet der international
gefeierte Engländer Ivor Bolton das
Orchester als Chefdirigent.
Zunehmend und erfolgreich wird die
Arbeit des Orchesters auf Tonträgern
dokumentiert. Werke von Mozart in der
Serie „Festspiel-Dokumente“, BrucknerSymphonien, Uraufführungen und
Einspielungen von Mozart-Symphonien
sowie sämtliche Beethoven-Klavierkonzerte (mit Valery Afanassiev) liegen bei

In 1841, on the 50th anniversary of
Mozart’s death, the orchestra was
founded in Salzburg as the “Cathedral
Music Society and Mozarteum” by
citizens of Salzburg with the help of
Mozart’s widow Constanze and their
sons Franz Xaver and Carl Mozart. In
1939 the Mozarteum Orchestra broke
off its links with the International
Mozarteum Foundation and the academy of music — now a university.
Since then it has become an independent institution and since 1958 the
symphony orchestra has been
financially supported by the City
and Province of Salzburg.
At the centre of the varied artistic
repertoire of the Salzburg Mozarteum
Orchestra is the music of the Viennese
Classical period. At the Salzburg Festival
the orchestra plays the Mozart Matinees
under eminent conductors and with
distinguished soloists, and also plays
a major role in performing opera.
Concerts during the Mozart Week and
during the orchestra’s many international tours similarly focus on works
of the Viennese Classical period. The
orchestra is an important ambassador
of Austria conveying great music that
belongs to the whole world.

the orchestra has had its own series,

Mozarteum Orchestra has always had a
strong commitment to contemporary
music and is one of the essential pillars
of the stART Festival of New Music. To
complete the picture the orchestra performs during the Autumn Jazz Festival
in Salzburg, has appeared with Bobby
McFerrin in the Salzburg Arena, gives
concerts especially devised for young
people, and orchestral players have also
formed several chamber music ensembles. Since autumn 2004, the internationally renowned Briton Ivor Bolton
has taken over as principal conductor
of the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra.
The Mozarteum Orchestra has made
several recordings: works by Mozart
have been issued in the series Historic
Festival Recordings, as well as symphonies by Bruckner and world premieres
of new music. Symphonies by Mozart
and the Beethoven piano concertos
with Valery Afanassiev as soloist are
available on the Oehms Classics label.

Dennis Russell Davies was born in Toledo (Ohio) and studied piano and conducting at the Juilliard School in New
York. His activity as a conductor of
opera and concerts, as a pianist and
chamber musician is characterised by
a broad-ranging repertoire extending
from Baroque to contemporary modern
works, by exciting and well thought-out
programmes and by close involvement
with composers such as Luciano Berio,
William Bolcom, John Cage, Manfred
Trojahn, Philip Glass, Heinz Winbeck,
Laurie Anderson, Philippe Manoury,
Aaron Copland, Hans Werner Henze,
Michael Nyman and Kurt Schwertsik.
Since 2002 Dennis Russell Davies has
been principal conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra in Linz and opera director
of the Landestheater in Linz. Davies
has also appeared as guest conductor of
the following orchestras in the United
States: Cleveland and Philadelphia,
Chicago, San Francisco and Boston
Symphony, the New York Philharmonic.
In Europe he works with orchestras

in 1978, he conducted there for another
two seasons, then at the Salzburg Festival, the Lincoln Center Festival New

Die Auswahl des Repertoires soll über
den künstlerischen Geschmack und das
selbstkritische Vermögen der Teilnehmerin/des Teilnehmers Aufschluss geben.
Besonderer Wert wird auf die spezifische
persönliche Auseinandersetzung mit
stilistischen und interpretatorischen
Fragen gelegt. Die Verwendung von
Urtextausgaben wird empfohlen.
Sämtliche Werke mit Ausnahme der
Sakralwerke sind auswendig und in der
Originalsprache vorzutragen, die Arien
ausnahmslos mit den zugehörigen
Rezitativen. Bearbeitungen (ausgenommen Transpositionen der Lieder
für die verschiedenen Stimmgattungen) sind nicht zugelassen.
Das Pflichtprogramm im 1. Durchgang
(Reihenfolge nach Wahl des/der Kandidaten/kandidatin) umfasst je 1 Werk
der folgenden Gruppen:

Die Programmfolge ist bei der Anmeldung bekannt zu geben (gleichzeitig
mit der Übersendung einer Kassette
und den erforderlichen Unterlagen,

Die Vortragsfolge für den 2. und 3.
Durchgang legt die Jury aus dem
eingereichten Programm fest. Die
Preisträger/innen des Wettbewerbes
werden nach Ende des Konzertes mit
Orchester bekannt gegeben. Zu Beginn
dieses Konzertes wird der/die Preisträger/in des Mozart Lied-Sonderpreises
ermittelt. Für den Orchesterdurchgang

excluded who were born after 1780 or
died before 1760.
d) Mozart: Original songs with piano accompaniment, Eine kleine deutsche Kantate K. 619 (New Mozart Edition) with a
maximum duration of 20 minutes.
e) Work commissioned for this international Mozart Competition with special
reference to Mozart by Ernst Ludwig

The choice of repertoire should reveal
something of the artistic taste and
power of self-critical assessment of the
participants. The judges will pay particular attention to the participants’ specific
personal analysis of questions of style
and interpretation. Participants are recommended to use original text editions.
All works, with the exception of the
sacred works, are to be performed from
RÉPERTOIRE IMPOSÉ
memory and in the original language,
and it is imperative that the arias are
performed with the accompanying
recitatives. Arrangements (except transpositions of songs for the various voice
ranges) are not permitted.
The compulsory programme in the first
round (the candidate may choose the
order) comprises one work from each
of the following groups:

The performance should not exceed
15 minutes. The order of programme
should be made known at the time of
registration (at the same time as you
send in a cassette and the requested
documents see the competition
conditions).
The order of performance for the second
and third round will be determined from
the submitted programme by the jury.
The prize-winners will be announced at
the end of the concert with orchestra.
The prize-winner of the Mozart-Lied
Special Prize will be determined at the
beginning of the concert with orchestra.
The final round will be performed in the
form of a concert with orchestra. A choice

Le choix du répertoire doit refléter le
goût artistique et les capacités d’autocritique de la candidate/du candidat.
L’accent sera particulièrement mis sur
l’approche des problèmes stylistiques et
d’interprétation spécifiquement personnelle du candidat.
Il est conseillé d’utiliser les éditions
„Urtext“. Toutes les œuvres, sauf les

Seit 1916 wird die Universität Mozarteum mit ihrer
Internationalen Sommerakademie jeden Sommer zum Pool berühmter
internationaler Künstlerpersönlichkeiten wie Pierre Amoyal, Shmuel Ashkenasi,
Aquiles Delle-Vigne, Peter-Lukas Graf, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Hans Leygraf,
Marjana Lipovsek, Edith Mathis, Igor Oistrakh, Igor Ozim, Ruggiero Ricci und
Milan Turkovic, und junger aufstrebender Nachwuchsstars.
In über 60 Meisterklassen für Tasten-, Streich- und Blasinstrumente, Gesang,
Dirigieren und Komposition perfektionieren Studierende aus der ganzen
Welt ihr Können.
Ein Erlebnis sind die Dozentenkonzerte, die Gelegenheit bieten, große
Musiker auf der Bühne zu erleben. In den Akademiekonzerten
zeigen die Schüler, wie weit sie bereits an ihre Meister heranreichen.
Kooperationen mit den Salzburger Festspielen bereichern
das Angebot um hochkarätige Konzerte im Großen Saal des Mozarteums.
