This means that you can start a programme of practically any duration whenever you want.
From the moment you’ve made your decision, you are on the way to learn French.

It’s also good if you can phone (or visit) a few days after the school has received your test

Intermediate (A2)
2A: Express your personality to friends. Talk about you, your work, your leisure and projects. Make dates.
2B: Using the language creatively, consolidate the basic structural knowledge necessary to have a conversation.
Higher - Advanced (B1 - B2)
2C: Conversation. Take firm control of your life in in the language, for example, at the garage, or on the phone, or in a
dispute.
3A: Become part of the language’s environment. Join in and contribute your views in fast-paced group conversations.
Write letters and become sure of the basics.
3B / 4A: Practical fluency. You’ll practise advanced grammar like the «subjonctif» and argue for ideas in complex,

On “Cultural Immersion Programmes” we spend more time on the culture of the language than in normal private
lessons. These are courses for your intellectual pleasure as well as improvement in your precise use of expressions.
For these programmes, we focus on a pre-agreed aspect of culture : literature, history, song, cinema, poetry, theatre, or
other art forms…. They appeal particularly to those who are actively engaged in culture, for example, as academics,
writers, journalists, language teachers, actors, translators, arts administrators, sponsors …. However, you do not need a
direct, professional reason to book such courses. You can enjoy Amira’s “Cultural Immersion Programmes”, if you have
already completed study in the language at least up to the European level to B2.1 (Amira level 3B), have a high general
education and a developed sensitivity to the cultural forms of your own language.
For your enjoyment, we will explore your chosen cultural expression of the language, while you practise the clear and
elegant patterns of the best speakers. Whatever the focus, we stimulate your intellectual curiosity and reinforce the
exactitude with which you use the language. By interweaving a natural approach to culture within a pre-agreed frame,
your course will be non-academic and allow for digression. The language opens the door. In this course you step
through and discover the world as viewed through the language, see its creativity and meet the refinement of its culture
through the chosen form. And, as in any journey of discovery, we can linger over the new and the fascinating.

Booking Conditions for Registration from Outside Belgium
* The book and extra written material are included in the fee.
* You are asked to ensure that we receive your registration and test at least 10 days
before you want to start. We also ask you to fax or telephone to confirm 2 or 3
working days before you are due to start (and before you travel to Belgium). Late
registration is sometimes possible - please telephone.
* Payment : fees are prepayable in full at registration.

Accommodation is the responsibility of whichever specialist agency is used by the

* A “fixed” series of private lessons (for example: an Immersion course) may be
rescheduled up to ten working days before the series is due to start. A “flexible”
series of private lessons means that any lesson in the series may be rescheduled at
one day’s notice.
* Admission to each course level is by test and teacher’s assessment.
* Group sizes are normally 5, 6, 7, 8 (or exceptionally 9) students. Groups start if
there are sufficient numbers for the level; but rather than cancel groups, the school
may open groups of 2, 3 or 4 students. However, as such small groups cover their
material more rapidly, they have 15% fewer hours than the number defined in the
programme.
* Entry to Belgium: If you need a visa, apply well in advance for a (3 months) tourist
visa only. See http://www.diplobel.be for further information. Payments for course
registration in the context of a visa application are not refundable if the visa is refused.

On vient de passer la station Chambre-des-Députés. On est toujours avec ses pensées. Du
sac en plastique, la jeune fille sort de la nourriture et la porte à sa bouche. On hésite un peu,
a-t-on bien vu? On ajuste son attention, son regard. Dans sa main, ce sont des épluchures
de pommes. Elle les croque, une à une, sans précipitation. Comme si c’ ............... la chose
la plus naturelle du .................... Puis ce sont des épluchures de carotte et de pomme de
terre. La terre des légumes reste sur ses lèvres. .................... sac elle extrait ensuite des
emballages de petits-suisses, puis elle racle, avec ses ongles, tout ce qu’y a laissé une cuiller
négligente.
Dans ce coin de la voiture, le silence s’est .................... On n’entend plus que le bruit des

Aucun doute: comme au temps des Dalton, la voiture est rançonnée. Une à une les pièces
tombent. Mieux encore qu’au temps des Dalton: le garçon n’a pas d’arme, rien dans les
mains, rien dans les poches. Du grand style. Les pièces tombent. Et pendant ce temps-là,
imperturbable, la fille continue de manger ses ordures. Le métro s’arrête. On sort, les
jambes molles, l’estomac noué. Tout ça .................... on a vu un garçon et une fille, de vingt
ans, vingt-cinq ans au plus. Deux styles, deux manières de .................... savoir au monde
que la jeunesse n’est pas le plus bel âge de la .................... On est à Sèvres-Babylone et on a
