American Indians have the highest rates of chewing tobacco use in

American Indians have the highest rates of chewing tobacco use in the United States. The Center for
American Indian Community Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center is offering a FREE
quit chewing tobacco program for American Indians as a part of a research study to develop and
pilot test the program.
Our program includes education, group and individual phone sessions with participants, participant
care and community research while stressing the importance of keeping tobacco sacred and
honoring its spirituality. We have groups starting in February 2016 in Kansas City and Lawrence.
