Frank O. Gehry is one of today’s
most important architects. Gehry
likes to use unusual materials for
his architecture and furniture and
with the furniture series ”Easy
Edges“ from 1972 he succeeded
in lending such everyday material
as cardboard a new aesthetic
dimension. Although they appear
unbelievably simple ”Easy Edges“
are constructed with the architect’s care as well as being very
robust and stable. Four models
from the series – Side Chair,
Wiggle Side Chair, Dining Table
and Low Table Set – are now
being produced by Vitra.

Gegenwart. Für seine Architektur
und seine Möbel verwendet
Gehry gerne ungewöhnliche
Materialien. Mit der Möbelserie
„Easy Edges“ von 1972 gelang
es ihm, einem so alltäglichen
Material wie dem Karton eine
neue ästhetische Dimension zu
verleihen. Obwohl sie verblüffend
einfach wirken, sind die „Easy
Edges“ doch mit der Sorgfalt des
Architekten konstruiert und
äusserst robust und stabil.
Vier Modelle dieser Serie werden
von Vitra produziert: Side Chair,
Wiggle Side Chair, Dining Table
und Low Table Set.
Frank O. Gehry fait partie des
architects contemporains important. Pour son architecture et ses
meubles, Gehry aime utiliser des
matériaux inhabituels. Avec la
collection de meubles „Easy
Edges“ créée en 1972, il réussit
à conférer une nouvelle dimension esthétique à un matériau
aussi courant que le carton. Bien
qu’ils produisent un effet d’une
simplicité déconcertante, les
„Easy Edges“ sont réalisés
cependant avec le soin de l’architecte tout en étant extrêmement robustes et stables. Quatre
modèles de cette série sont
fabriqués maintenant par Vitra :
Side Chair, Wiggle Side Chair,
Dining Table et Low Table Set.

de idear su arquitectura y sus
muebles. En la serie de muebles
„Easy Edges“ de 1972 consiguió
conferir a un material tan cotidiano como el cartón una nueva
dimensión estética. A pesar de
que resultan simplemente desconcertantes, los „Easy Edges“
están construidos con la minuciosidad propia de un arquitecto
y son extremadamente robustos y
estables. En este momento Vitra
fabrica cuatro modelos de esta
serie: Side Chair, Wiggle Side
Chair, Dining Table y Low Table
Set.

gebied van architektuur als op
het gebied van zijn meubelontwerpen maakt Gehry graag
gebruik van ongewone materialen. Met de meubelserie ”Easy
Edges“ uit 1972 is het Gehry
gelukt om aan een alledaags
materiaal als karton een geheel
nieuwe esthetische dimensie te
geven. Hoewel ze zeer eenvoudig
lijken, zijn de ”Easy Edges“ met
zorg vervaardigd en uiterst
