Cathy Krier
BIO
Née à Luxembourg en 1985, Cathy Krier commence
ses études de piano à l’âge de cinq ans au
Conservatoire de musique de Luxembourg.
A partir de 1999, elle est admise dans la classe de
virtuosité de Pavel Gililov à la Hochschule für Musik
und Tanz Köln. En 2000, elle enregistre le Concerto
en sol majeur de Ludwig van Beethoven avec le
Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, sous la
direction de Carlo Jans. Son premier enregistrement
avec des œuvres solo de Scarlatti, Haydn, Chopin,
Dutilleux et Müllenbach sort en 2008.
Cathy Krier est lauréate de différents concours et
de bourses, tels que le « Prix Norbert Stelmes » qui
lui est désigné par les Jeunesses Musicales du
Luxembourg ou le prix de la Fondation IKB
International.
En 2005, elle participe à l’inauguration de la
Philharmonie de Luxembourg, où elle se produit avec
Cyprien Katsaris à quatre mains. L’année suivante,
elle joue au Klavier-Festival Ruhr, étant l’une des
invités de la masterclass de Robert Levin.
D’autres masterclass lui permettent de suivre les
conseils de Dominique Merlet, de Homero Francesch
et d’Andrea Lucchesini avec lequel elle poursuit
également ses études à la Scuola di musica di
Fiesole. En 2009, Cathy Krier est invitée à
l’Académie musicale de Villecroze.
Elle participe à l’inauguration officielle de l’année
culturelle 2007 au Luxembourg et joue
régulièrement aux Festival International
d’Echternach, Festival de Bourglinster, Musek am
Syrdall de son pays.
Ses récitals l’ont conduite aux Etats-Unis, à
Washington, où elle s’est produite au Millenium
Stage du Kennedy Center, aux Pays-Bas, à l’abbaye
Rolduc de Kerkrade sur invitation de la Fondation
Euriade. D’autres concerts la mènent en Autriche,
Allemagne, Espagne, Andorre, Lettonie, Italie,
France, ainsi qu’en Belgique. Suivent les invitations
du Festival Sommerclassics, de PianoPlus, du
K20K21 Ständehaus de Düsseldorf, de
l’Ärtzekammer Nordrhein, de Haus Rhodehorst, de la
Bagno Konzertgalerie de Steinfurt, de la Maison du
Luxembourg Berlin et du Grand Théâtre et de la
Philharmonie de la Ville de Luxembourg. Pendant la
saison 2012, elle s’est entre autres produite au
Piano Stars Festival de Liepaja, au Falkenhof de
Rheine, aux Midi-Minimes de Bruxelles, au Sint-Peter
Festival de Louvain, au Festival Spaziomusica de
Cagliari, à la Philharmonie Luxembourg et à Schloß
Elmau en Bavière. De plus, elle s’est vue offrir
l’opportunité d’être artiste en résidence à la
Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre de Paris. En 2013, elle
a été invitée au Festival de l’Hôtel d’Albret à Paris,
au Leipziger Klaviersommer et au Mendelssohn-Haus
et a fait une tournée en Chine. Son enregistrement
consacré à l’œuvre pour piano de Leoš Janáček paru
chez CAvi-music a fait l’éloge de la presse
internationale pour son originalité et sa richesse.
Cette saison, Cathy Krier se produira entre autres au
théâtre des Bouffes du Nord à Paris, à la
Philharmonie du Luxembourg à plusieurs reprises, à
la Körber-Stiftung de Hambourg et au Festival
International d’Echternach.
Cathy Krier collabore régulièrement avec des
orchestres tels que l’Orchestre Philharmonique du
Luxembourg, les Solistes Européens Luxembourg,
l’Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, « Les
Musiciens », le « L’Estro Armonico », le Latvian
Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, le Liepaja
Symphony Amber Sound Orchestra sous la direction
de chefs tels que Jack Martin Händler, Bramwell
Tovey, Garry Walker, Pierre Cao, Yoon K. Lee et
Atvars Lakstigala.

BIO
Born in Luxembourg in 1985, Cathy began taking
piano lessons at the Luxembourg Conservatoire at
the age of five.
In 1999 she was admitted to Professor Pavel
Gililov´s masterclass at the Hochschule für Musik
und Tanz in Cologne. In 2000 she recorded Ludwig
van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in G major with the
Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra conducted
by Carlo Jans. Her first solo recording was released
in 2008 and features pieces by Scarlatti, Haydn,
Chopin, Dutilleux and Müllenbach.
Cathy Krier is the laureate of a number of prizes and
scholarships including the Prix Norbert Stelmes,
awarded to her by the Jeunesses Musicales du
Luxembourg in 2003 and, in the following year, the
IKB International Foundation Prize.
In 2005 Cathy joined Cyprien Katsaris for a fourhand performance at the inauguration of the
Luxembourg Philharmonie. In 2006 she played at the
Ruhr Piano Festival following an invitation by
Professor Robert Levin to join his masterclass.
Further stepping stones in Cathy’s training as a
professional pianist were an invitation to the
Académie musicale de Villecroze and her
participation in masterclasses with Dominique
Merlet, Homero Francesch and Andrea Lucchesini
under whom she undertook further study at the
Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
In 2007 Cathy performed at the Luxembourg
European Capital of Culture opening ceremony. She
also makes regular appearances at the Bourglinster,
Echternach International and Musek am Syrdall
Festivals in Luxembourg.
Cathy’s concert engagements included
performances in the United States (Kennedy Center
Millennium Stage, Washington, D.C.) and the
Netherlands where she played at Rolduc Abbey in
response to an invitation by the Euriade Foundation.
She also performed at venues across Austria, Spain,
Germany, Latvia, Andorra, Italy, France and Belgium
and was subsequently invited to play at the
Summerclassics Festival and at Pianoplus Bonn, and
to perform recitals at the K20/K21 Museum in
Düsseldorf, the Nordrhein Medical Association, the
Bagno Concert Gallery, the CAPe Ettelbrück, the
Luxembourg House in Berlin and the Grand Théâtre
and the Philharmonie in Luxembourg-City. In 2012,
Cathy performed at the Liepaja Piano Stars Festival,
the Falkenhof in Rheine, the Midi-Minimes Festival in
Brussels and the Sint-Peter Festival in Louvain, the
Spaziomusica Festival in Cagliari, the Philharmonie in
Luxembourg and at Schoß Elmau among others.
Further, she has been invited to be Artist in
Residence at the Biermans-Lapôtre Foundation in
Paris. In 2013, more concerts included the Hôtel

featuring the piano works of Leoš Janáček that has

In addition to her work as a recitalist, Cathy has
performed as a soloist with the Luxembourg
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Solistes Européens du
Luxembourg, the Luxembourg-based chamber
orchestras Les Musiciens and L’Estro Armonico, the
Liepaja symphony amber sound orchestra and the
Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra under

Cathy Krier, 1985 in Luxemburg geboren, begann
schon im Alter von fünf Jahren ihr Klavierstudium
am Luxemburger Konservatorium.
Ab 1999 gehörte sie der Meisterklasse von Prof.
Pavel Gililov an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz
Köln an. Im Jahr 2000 spielte sie Ludwig van
Beethovens Klavierkonzert in G-Dur mit dem Latvian
Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra unter der Leitung
von Carlo Jans ein. 2008 erschien ihre erste CD mit
Solowerken von Scarlatti, Haydn, Chopin, Dutilleux
und Müllenbach.
Cathy Krier ist Preisträgerin mehrerer Wettbewerbe
und Stipendien. 2003 verlieh ihr die Jeunesses
Musicales du Luxembourg den «Prix Norbert
Stelmes». Ein Jahr später erhielt sie den Preis der
Stiftung IKB International.
Anlässlich der Eröffnungsfeierlichkeiten der
Philharmonie Luxemburg 2005, spielte Cathy Krier
gemeinsam mit dem Pianisten Cyprien Katsaris
vierhändig. Ein Jahr später trat sie beim KlavierFestival Ruhr auf indem sie eine Einladung zum
Meisterkurs von Prof. Robert Levin annahm. Weitere
Meisterkurse bei Dominique Merlet, Homero
Francesch und Andrea Lucchesini, bei dem sie ihre
Studien an der Scuola di Musica di Fiesole fortsetzte,
sowie eine Einladung an die Académie musicale de
Villecroze ergänzten ihre musikalische Ausbildung.
2007 beteiligte sie sich an der feierlichen Eröffnung
des Kulturjahres in Luxemburg, wo sie regelmäßig im
Rahmen des Festival International Echternach, des
Festival de Bourglinster und des Festival Musek am
Syrdall auftritt.
Ihre Konzerttätigkeiten führten Cathy Krier sowohl
in die Vereinigten Staaten (Washington, Millenium
Stage des Kennedy Center), wie auch in die
Niederlande, wo sie auf Einladung der Stiftung
Euriade in der Abtei Rolduc konzertierte. Weitere
Konzerte führten sie nach Österreich, Deuschland,
Lettland, Spanien, Andorra, Italien, Frankreich und
Belgien. Es folgten Einladungen zum Festival
Sommerclassics, zu Pianoplus in Bonn, sowie
Klavierabende im Museum K20/K21 Düsseldorf, bei
der Ärztekammer Nordrhein, auf Haus Rodehorst, im
Luxemburger Haus in Berlin, im Grand Théâtre der
Stadt Luxemburg, in der Philharmonie Luxemburg,
im CAPe Ettelbrück und in der Bagno Konzertgalerie
Steinfurt. 2012 konzertierte Sie unter anderem am
Liepaja Piano Stars Festival, im Falkenhof in Rheine,
an dem Midi-Minimes Festival in Brüssel und dem
Sint-Peter Festival in Louvain, Beim Festival
Spaziomusica in Cagliari in der Philharmonie

eine Tournee in China. Ihre Einspielung des
Klavierwerkes von Leoš Janáček, die beim Label
CAvi-music dieses Jahr erschien, wurde von der
internationalen Presse für ihrem Reichtum und ihre
Originalität gelobt.
Diese Saison sind unter anderem Konzerte im
Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, in der
Philharmonie Luxemburg, in der Körber-Stiftung in
Hamburgund auf dem Festival International
Echternach geplant.
Neben ihren Klavierabenden, konnte sie bereits als
Solistin mit verschiedenen Orchestern auftreten:
