RAdm E.M. Steele, OMM, CD
Rear-Admiral (RAdm) Elizabeth Steele joined the Canadian Forces as a reservist
in1983. During the three years she served with the Naval Reserves, she received a
B.Sc. degree in 1985 from Dalhousie University in Halifax and graduated from the
French Immersion program at University Sainte-Anne in Pointe-de-I'Eglise in Nova
Scotia. In 1986, she transferred to the Regular Force and two years later she completed
her shore-based Sea Logistics training, with specialties in Supply and Finance.
Between 1988 and 1993, RAdm Steele served as the Supply Officer in HMCS
CORMORANT and HMCS IROQUOIS. She has also served in various Finance and
Logistics capacities in Maritime Command (MARCOM) units ashore.
In 1993, RAdm Steele deployed to the United Nations Transition Authority in Cambodia
Headquarters (UNTAC HQ) as Financial Policy Officer for the military component of over
16,000 troops. In Kingston, ON, she was appointed as the Joint Logistics Branch
Coordinator at the Joint Operations Group HQ and later as the Senior Staff Officer
Personnel at Royal Military College. Following a tour as Formation Comptroller in
MARLANT, she assumed command of Formation Logistics in 2004.
RAdm Steele is a graduate of the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in
Toronto and in 2007 attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington
DC, where she received a M.Sc. degree in National Resource Strategy with a core
qualification in Supply Chain Management.
From 2007 to 2009, RAdm Steele was the Maritime Command Comptroller and also
held the appointment as the Logistics Branch Naval Co-Advisor.
In July 2009 RAdm Steele assumed Command of the Canadian Material Support Group
(CMSG), a Formation of the Canadian Operational Support Command (CANOSCOM).
On 15 April 2011, she was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Materiel Group
with the duties and responsibilities of an Officer Commanding a Command.
On 31 May 2013, she was appointed to the Treasure Board Secretariat (TBS). Upon
promotion to Rear-Admiral on 1 June 2014, she was appointed the Chief of Staff (COS)
of the ADM (Fin SM) and Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) J8 with the duties and
responsibilities of an Officer Commanding a Command.

Contre-amiral (cam) Elizabeth Steele s'est enrôlée dans les Forces canadiennes comme
réserviste en 1983. Pendant ses trois ans de service avec Ia Reserve navale, elle
obtient son baccalauréats sciences de l'Université Dalhousie en 1985 et son diplôme du
Programme d'immersion française de l’Université Sainte-Anne, a Pointe-de-l'Église en
Nouvelle-Écosse. En 1986, elle se joint à la Force régulière et suit le programme
d'instruction en logistique maritime avec spécialisation en approvisionnement et finances
qu'elle termine deux ans plus tard.
Entre 1988 et 1993, le cam Steele sert comma officier d'approvisionnement sur le NCSM
CORMORANT et le NCSM IROQUOIS, et occupe divers postes dans les unîtes sur la
côte du Commandement maritime (COMAR).
En 1993, cam Steele sert au Quartier général de l’Autorité provisoire des Nations Unies
au Cambodge (QG APRONUC) comme officier à la politique financière de la
composante militaire (plus de 16 000 soldats). À Kingston (Ontario) elle est nommée
coordinatrice de la Branche de logistique interarmées au QG du Groupe interarmées
des opérations des Forces canadiennes et Officier supérieur d'état-major-Personnel, au
Collège militaire royal. En 2004, elle prend le commandement de la Branche de
logistique des FMAR(A).
Cam Steele est diplômée du Collège d'état-major et de commandement des Forces
canadiennes de Toronto. En 2007, elle obtient une maitrise es sciences en stratégie de
gestion des ressources nationales, avec qualification principale en gestion de la chaine
d'approvisionnement, du Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defence
University, de Washington (DC).
De 2007 a 2009, cam Steele occupe le poste de Contrôleur du Commandement de la
Force Maritime et tout en continuant a agir comma conseillère auprès du Service de la
branche logistique-marine.
En juillet 2009, cam Steele prend le commandement du Groupe de soutien en matériel
du Canada (GSMC), une formation du Commandement du soutien opérationnel du
Canada (COMSOCAN). Le 15 avril 2011, elle est nommée Chef d'état-major adjoint du
Groupe des matériels avec les fonctions et responsabilités d'un officier Commandant de
Commandement.
Le 31 mai 2013, elle fut affectée au secrétariat du conseil du trésor (SCT) et par la suite
promue a son grade actuelle 1 juin 2014 pour ensuite être nommée chef d'état-major
(COS) du SMA(Fin) et J8 des forces armées canadiennes avec les devoir et
responsabilités d'un officier commandant un commandement.
