The PGRT series retrofit kit is to be installed into existing UL-listed HID luminaires. Existing luminaire must be of
a shoebox design and have minimum dimensions of 12”x12”x5”.
The PGRT series retrofit kit is not designed for retrofitting of up-lights. All retrofitted luminaires must be
installed so that the PGRT retrofit kit is in a downward orientation.
Before starting work:
Ensure that all electrical connections are not live! Take all steps necessary to make sure that electrical
connections will not become live accidentally during installation.
All work is to be performed by a professional electrician.
PGRT Retrofit Kit Includes:
1 unit of LED Luminaire Panel with attached driver
4pcs of panel attachment tabs (most installations)
4pcs of 6-32 machine screws (most installations)
For wet-location installations, silicone sealant must be used as part of the retrofit process. Sealant must be
105ºC rated, cURus RTV Sealant
Installation Steps:
1. Open up existing luminaire by removing screws that hold the lens-frame in place. Remove existing lamp
and reflector. Continue removing the existing HID components until all are removed. Do not remove the
grounding wires.
2. Remove existing glass from lens frame. If applicable, remove the existing mounting tabs on the back side
of the lens-frame that secure the glass in place. Save these for re-use. If the glass is secured with adhesive,
use caution while removing the adhesive. A knife may be required.
For step 2, it may be easier to unhinge the lens frame. If this is done, be sure to reattach the lens-frame in
the same manner it was originally attached.
3. Place PRGT panel into place of the existing glass, with the optical chamber oriented downwards. The
driver will be enclosed in the luminaire when the lens-frame is closed. Do not close the lens-frame yet.
Attach the PGRT panel to the existing lens-frame.
5. For wet location installations, apply a bead of RTV sealant (provided) to the back side of the LED panel
where it meets the existing fixture’s lens frame. Apply sealant to all 4 sides and ensure that RTV is forming a
complete seal between the LED panel and the existing lens frame.
6. Connect the LED driver input wires to the line voltage. Connect all of the ground wires together. Use
connectors rated for 105°Celcius. Do not disturb the wires between the LED panel and the driver output.
Black – Hot
White – Neutral
Green – Ground
7. Hinge the lens-frame upwards and close up the light fixture using the existing screws. Installation is now
complete.
