RIVERSIDE CAFÉ & PICNIC
I remember the banks of the Dordogne River in Souillac
when we were teenagers. The summers were hot and the
nights stormy. Processions of bright, flower-bedecked floats
rambled through town, interspersed with loud and festive
majorettes and brass bands. We were on vacation and used to
meet every afternoon, opposite the municipal campground,
at the guinguette (outdoor café), a simple structure sheltered
from the sun, where we could quench our thirst between
dips into the river from the pontoon.
The welcoming banks of the Dordogne attracted fishermen,
swimmers, and those just out for a stroll. Terrified by the
August storms, we sought shelter, running as fast as we could
to the outdoor café!
If you are feeling nostalgic or just want to enjoy our beautiful
river, we invite you to spend the day with us at the waterside.
Come join us on 10 July!
Bring your picnic, your sunhat, your boules de pétanque,
your good humour and perhaps your memories.
We’ll have two musicians with us, and who knows? Perhaps
we’ll dance! At the riverside café.

Daily Life
Did you know?
For those who are not yet familiar with the regulations, or who apparently ignore them, we remind
you that under article 10 of the Order of the Prefect
of the Lot, dated 2 December 2009, concerning
neighbourhood noise:
“The occupants and users of private properties,
housing units, outlying buildings and surroundings
must take every measure to ensure that household
activities, DIY and gardening that involve the use of
noisy tools or machines, such as gasoline-powered
lawnmowers and chain saws [among others] do not
disturb the neighbourhood”.
Work of this nature is accordingly authorized only
during the following hours:
-Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 12 pm
-Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm and 3 to 7 pm
-Weekdays from 8:30 am to 12 pm and 2:30 to
7:30 pm.

Responsibility for roadworks
The plan (above) shows:
in green, roads under Departmental responsibility
in pink, roads under the Commune’s responsibility
All other roads are under the responsibility of the City
of Souillac
NB: Avenue Gambetta and Rue Louqsor are also under
the Commune’s responsibility.
From 1 July to 31 Aug., 11 am-7 pm, special
signage will be installed for the Museum of the
Automaton, the Ste. Marie Abbatial Church and
businesses located on Rue du Pont and Place de la
Nau.
Public housing:
Just one form to fill out, and one case file
Those requesting public housing will henceforth have to complete just one form, regardless of the place or agency to which
they submit the request. The new document is available online at www.service-public.fr .
All that is required when dropping off the document at a town hall, at the lessor’s office, or with the collector of the 1%
housing contribution is an identity card or residence permit. Valid in all French departments and regions, including Ile-deFrance, this “one-stop” request form enables you to seek housing in several communes at the same time, without having to
fill out another form.
Thereafter, those filing the request will have to provide the proof of identity necessary for their request to be handled; to
simplify matters further, the list of items constituting proof of identity has been harmonised for all institutions throughout
France.
What are the advantages?
The new regulations speed up requests for public housing. For the end user, the formalities are simpler and faster; and for the
government, efficiency is guaranteed, thanks to better information-sharing. In particular, the rules ensure that requests are
dealt with as quickly as possible. The application packet can be picked up from the Town Hall or Housing Service, or downloaded from www.service-public.fr .
For further information, please contact the Souillac Housing Service in the Town Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2
to 5 pm. 05 65 32 71 00.
