Today is known as Gaudete Sunday. The term Gaudete refers to the first word of the Entrance Antiphon, ‘Rejoice’. Rose vestments are worn to emphasize our joy that Christmas is near. We also
light the rose candle on our Advent wreath. Indeed
we have much to rejoice about during this time of
year, the most important being “the reason for the
season” - Christ Jesus. Yet, there are immense
secular pressures to overdo it in the shopping malls.
We can just pay for it later...right? In the face of all
the excessive secular celebrating we rejoice in the
gift of a stewardship way of life because it provides
us with balance and discipline.

3rd & 4th Sunday of Advent
3e et 4e dimanche de l’Avent
December 16 & 23, 2012
3rd Sunday of Advent:
Let us
rejoice in Gaudete Sunday, half way to
Christmas. Its color rose is a sign of hope.
When excitement builds, as it certainly does
for children at Christmastime, there is often
a temptation to jump right into the event without having
properly prepared for it. We do this too often. Such things
take away from the joy of the actual feast. We still have
time to properly prepare our souls and our hearts for the true
meaning of Christmas.
4th Sunday of Advent:
Mary responded yes to
the request of God to bear His Son. Jesus responded yes to
the will of the Father and gave His life for the sake of humankind. We, too, are invited to be part of the New Covenant that Jesus established. We say yes when we act out of
love toward those around us and reach out to those in need
throughout the world.
4e dimanche de l’Avent:
Dieu a souvent visité
You will notice in this week’s bulletin that there are three school masses. St. Paul’s School
mass will be held at the school. Our Lady of the Annunciation and St. Ambroise masses will be held at the church. All
are welcome to assist.

vendredi. Tous sont les bienvenues.

Stress in Your Marriage
- Retrouvaille
(pronounced retro-vi) is a program for married couples that
feel bored, disillusioned, frustrated, or angry in their marriage. Some experience coldness. Others experience conflict in their relationship. Most don’t know how to change
the situation or even communicate with their spouse about it.
This program has helped thousands of couples experiencing
difficulties in their marriage. For confidential information
about, or to register for the program beginning with a weekend on February 8, 9 & 10, 2013, call 1-800-705-6356.
The Devotion of 40 Hours of Eucharistic
Adoration: In preparation for the Solemnity of Christmas 40 hours of Eucharistic Adoration will
be offered at St. Francis Xavier in Tilbury
from December 20th (following school
mass approximately 10:30 am) until December 22nd at 8:30 am (before 9:00 am
mass). Obviously this is more than 40
hours, however prayer time is never wasted.
There will be sign up sheets available soon.
