Minutes of the 2015 Skate Canada New Brunswick Annual General Meeting
Saturday, April 25th 2015, Crowne Plaza, Moncton, NB
Section Chair, Marc Robichaud opened the meeting at 14:15. Marc thanks everyone for attending as
well as acknowledging board members, staff, numerous volunteers and Region 3 for providing the
decorations for the evening’s Banquet.
Nicole LeBlanc-Richard paid tribute to Bethany Tory, Skate Canada Chief Operating Officer who
passed away unexpectedly.
A video from Leanna Caron, Skate Canada President, was presented.
Section Chair awarded the SCNB Active for Life Bursaries:

1. Reading of Notice of Meeting
Marc Robichaud advised that as to By-Law 9, observers have no voice and no vote.
A MOTION was made by Wendy Stokes (VP Programs) and seconded by Steven Keith (Competitive
Skating Chair) THAT observers have a voice but no vote at the Annual General Meeting. All in favour.
Carried.
Amendment to meeting agenda on page 5-6 of the Annual Report Book that AGM location should
read Crowne Plaza, Moncton, NB.
A MOTION was made by Diane Allard (Region 8 representative) and seconded Jocelyne Hebert
(Dieppe Gold Blades) THAT the agenda order remain flexible as per the Chair’s discretion. All in
favour. Carried.
2. Reports as to Quorum
Tracey Carroll, SCNB Secretary, reports that the quorum has been met with 10 out of the 33 clubs in
attendance.
3. Minutes of Previous Annual Meeting
A MOTION was made by Nicole LeBlanc-Richard (VP Technical) and seconded by Jocelyne Hebert
(Dieppe Gold Blades) that the reading of the minutes from the last annual meeting held on April 26,
2014 be dispensed with and that the minutes of last year’s annual meeting be adopted as prepared
and presented in the 2015 Annual Report book. All in favour. Carried.
4. Confirmation of Actions Taken by the Board
ADDENDUM: Actions of the Executive from March 30, 2015 meeting have been handed out. Meeting
was held after printing of Annual Report book.

A MOTION was made by Andrée-Josée Duclos (Officials Committee Chair) and seconded by Steven
Keith (Competitive Skating Chair) to accept the Actions of the Board as presented. All in favour.
Carried.
5. Reports
Section Chair informs the members that since the reports were included in the Annual Report Book
and have been sent out; the reading of each report will not take place. Questions arising from the
reports may be added to New Business. Section Chair informs the members that they will be asked to
move the acceptance of all the reports with the exception of the financial report.
CORRECTION to Awards Report on pages 56 and 57 should read Janice Estabrooks, not Christine Hicks
receiving a 10 year pin.
Financial Report
Section Chair informs attendees that the SCNB Financial Report prepared by Grant Thornton was
presented earlier. A motion was made by Carole Thiffault (VP Administration), and seconded by
Jocelyne Hebert (Dieppe Gold Blades), to accept the Review Engagement Report prepared by Grant
Thornton for the year 2014-15 as presented. All in favour. Carried.
A MOTION was made by Annie Aube (Dalhousie SC) and seconded by Cindy Doucet (Belledune SC)
THAT we accept ALL the reports as presented in the Annual Report Book. All in favour. Carried.
6. Election of Officers
Linda LeBlanc advises that 3 positions were filled by acclamation:

A motion was made by Wendy Stokes (VP Programs) and seconded by Diane Allard (Region 8
representative) THAT Paul Babin CA Corp. Prof (2009) be appointed as our chartered accountants for
the year ending March 31 2016 for an Audit Engagement of the SCNB financials statement. All in
favour. Carried.
Marc Robichaud says a few words by thanking two of SCNB volunteers: Nicole LeBlanc-Richard and
Patsy Henderson. He also recognizes Susan Taylor and Kimberly Henderson-Berry.
Section Chair, Marc Robichaud, presents the 2015-2016 SCNB Board.
Wendy Stokes (VP Programs) made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 3:03pm.

Le président de la Section, Marc Robichaud, ouvre la séance à 14 h 15. Marc remercie tout le monde
de leur présence et remercie les membres du CA, les membres du personnel, les nombreux bénévoles
et les membres de la Région 3 pour la décoration à la soirée du banquet.
Nicole LeBlanc-Richard rend hommage à Bethany Tory, chef des opérations à Patinage Canada,
décédée de manière inattendue.

1. Lecture de l’avis de convocation
Marc Robichaud déclare que, conformément à l’Article 9, les observateurs n’ont ni le droit de parole
ni le droit de vote.
MOTION : Il est proposé par Wendy Stokes (v.-p. programmes) et appuyé par Steven Keith (président
comité patinage de compétition) QUE les observateurs puissent prendre la parole, mais ne puissent
pas voter à l’assemblée générale annuelle. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
Modification à l’ordre du jour de la réunion, p.5 et 6 de la brochure du rapport annuel que le lieu de
l’AGA soit corrigé pour lire Crowne Plaza, Moncton (N.-B.).
MOTION : Il est proposé par Diane Allard (représentante Région 8) et appuyé par Jocelyne Hebert
(Gold Blades Dieppe) QUE l’ordre du jour demeure flexible, à la discrétion du président. Adoptée à
l’unanimité.
2. Vérification du quorum

3. Procès-verbal de la dernière AGA
MOTION : Il est proposé par Nicole LeBlanc-Richard (v.-p. technique) et appuyé par Jocelyne Hebert
(Gold Blades Dieppe) QU’on ne procède pas à la lecture du procès-verbal de la réunion du 26 avril
2014 et que ce procès-verbal soit adopté tel que présenté dans la brochure de l’AGA 2015. Adoptée à
l’unanimité.
4. Confirmation des mesures prises par le CA
ADDENDA : Les mesures prises par la direction en fonction de la réunion du 30 mars 2015 ont été
distribuées. La réunion a eu lieu après l’impression de la brochure du rapport annuel.
MOTION : Il est proposé par Andrée-Josée Duclos (présidente du comité des officiels) et appuyé par
Steven Keith (président du comité de patinage de compétition) d’accepter les mesures prises par le
CA comme présentées. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
5. Rapports
Le président de la Section informe les membres que, depuis, les rapports ont été inclus à la brochure
du rapport annuel et ont été distribués. On ne fera pas lecture de chacun des rapports. Les questions
découlant de ces rapports peuvent être ajoutées dans les Affaires nouvelles. Le président de la
Section informe les membres qu’on leur demandera de présenter une motion pour accepter tous les
rapports, à l’exception du rapport financier.
CORRECTION au rapport des prix, p. 56-57 devrait lire Janice Estabrooks, pas Christine Hicks, qui a
reçu une épinglette marquant ses 10 années.

Rapport financier
Le président de la Section informe les membres que le rapport financier de PCNB, préparé par la firme
Grant Thornton, a été présenté plus tôt.
MOTION : Il est proposé par Carole Thiffault (v.-p. administration) et appuyé par Jocelyne Hebert
(Gold Blades Dieppe) d’accepter le rapport Révision de l’engagement préparé par Grant Thornton
pour l’exercice 2014-2015 comme présenté. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
MOTION : Il est proposé par Annie Aube (Dalhousie SC) et appuyé par Cindy Doucet (Belledune SC)
d’accepter TOUS les rapports comme présentés dans la brochure du rapport annuel. Adoptée à
l’unanimité.
6. Élection des administrateurs

l’exercice financier se terminant le 31 mars 2016 pour assurer la vérification des états financiers de
PCNB. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
Marc Robichaud prend la parole pour remercier 2 des bénévoles de PCNB : Nicole LeBlanc-Richard et
Patsy Henderson. Il remercie également Susan Taylor et Kimberly Henderson-Berry.

Minutes of the 2016 Skate Canada New Brunswick Special Meeting
Saturday, February 20th 2016, Willie O’Ree Center, NB
Section Chair, Marc Robichaud opened the meeting at 13:08.
Marc explains the purpose of this meeting – the adoption of a new Constitution for SCNB. He points
out that SCNB undertook this exercise after Skate Canada (SC) rewrote its Constitution in 2015.
Following SC’s changes, SCNB’s Constitution became obsolete because much relied on SC bylaws.
A Committee was struck to create a new SCNB Constitution and this was approved by the Board of
SCNB on November 11, 2015. It was also approved by the Board of Skate Canada in December 2015.
1. Adoption of Agenda
A MOTION was made by Andrée-Josée Duclos (Officials Committee Chair) and seconded by Cindy
Doucet (Belledune Skating Club) TO adopt the Agenda. All in favour. Carried.
2. Observers

clubs in attendance.
4. Reading of Notice of Meeting
After asking the members, the consensus was to forgo the reading of the notice of meeting.
5. Constitution Review and Motion to Adopt
Marc explains major changes brought to Constitution: a) allowing Coaches to vote, and b) reduction of
SCNB Board and Executive Committee sizes.
A MOTION was made by Wendy Stokes (VP Technical) and seconded by Jean Fortin (MariposaMoncton) TO adopt the updated SCNB Constitution and implement it immediately. All in favour.
Carried.
In order to allow SCNB to conduct its business, Marc asked that a Motion be made to allow the
current Board to act as an interim Board until the April 30th SCNB AGM.
A MOTION was made by Andrea Cassidy (Saint John Skating Club) and seconded by Steven Keith
(Competitive Skating Committee Chair) to allow the current SCNB Board to act as an interim Board
until the April 30th SCNB AGM. All in favour. Carried.
Marc Robichaud thanked Committee who created new Constitution and members for attending
meeting.
6. Adjournment
Wendy Stokes (VP Technical) made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 13:45.

de Patinage Canada Nouveau-Brunswick 2016

Marc explique le but de la réunion, soit l’adoption des nouveaux statuts de PCNB. Il souligne que
PCNB a entrepris cet exercice après que Patinage Canada (PC) a décidé de réécrire ses propres statuts,
en 2015. À la suite des modifications apportées aux statuts de PC, les statuts de PCNB devenaient
obsolètes, car s’appuient fortement sur les statuts et règlements administratifs de PC.
Un comité a donc été mis sur pied pour élaborer les nouveaux statuts de PCNB, lesquels ont été
approuvés par le conseil d’administration de PCNB le 11 novembre 2015 et approuvés par le conseil
d’administration de PC en décembre 2015.
1. Approbation de l’ordre du jour
MOTION proposée par Andrée-Josée Duclos (présidente du comité des officiels) et appuyée par Cindy
Doucet (club de patinage de Belledune) d’approuver l’ordre du jour. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
2. Observateurs
Marc Robichaud fait remarquer que, conformément au règlement administratif 9, les observateurs
n’ont ni droit de parole ni droit de vote.
MOTION proposée par Carole Thiffault (vice-présidente du comité des programmes) et appuyée par
Pam Goodfellow (club de patinage Capital City) que les observateurs aient le droit de prendre la
parole, mais n’aient pas le droit de vote à cette réunion extraordinaire. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
3. Confirmation du quorum
Carole Thiffault (vice-présidente du comité des programmes de PCNB) confirme que le quorum est
atteint (10 clubs sur 33 présents).
4. Lecture de l’avis de convocation
Après délibération, on décide à l’unanimité de passer outre la lecture de l’avis de convocation.
5. Révision des statuts et adoption des motions
Marc explique les changements majeurs apportés aux statuts : a) permettre aux entraineurs de voter;
b) réduire la taille du conseil d’administration et du conseil de direction de PCNB.
MOTION proposée par Wendy Stokes (vice-présidente du comité technique) et appuyée par Jean
Fortin (Mariposa-Moncton) d’approuver la mise à jour des statuts de PCNB et de les mettre en
vigueur immédiatement. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
Afin de permettre à PCNB de conduire ses affaires, Marc demande à ce qu’une motion soit présentée
pour autoriser le conseil d’administration actuel à agir à titre de CA par intérim jusqu’à l’AGA de
PCNB, qui aura lieu le 30 avril.

(président du comité de patinage de compétition) d’autoriser le conseil d’administration actuel à agir
à titre de CA par intérim jusqu’à l’AGA de PCNB, qui aura lieu le 30 avril. Adoptée à l’unanimité.
Marc Robichaud remercie le comité qui a élaboré les nouveaux statuts ainsi que les membres
présents à la réunion extraordinaire.

will be completed prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The year-end financial reports for
2015-2016 will be available at the AGM on April 30, 2016.

Chair | Président
This past year has been both productive and invigorating for Skate Canada New Brunswick. We have
been busy instilling new ways of thinking while simultaneously conducting traditional board business.
A considerable amount of time has been spent revising all SCNB bylaws, policies and drafting up a
new SCNB constitution. These changes were essential as our National Sports Organization, Skate
Canada, had reworked their own following changes in the federal Not-for-Profit Act in 2014.
Furthermore, we have restructured the governance structure of our organization which will put us on
sound footing for years to come.
On the skating front, we have successfully collaborated with our neighbor sections by hosting the NBNS- PEI Sectionals in Dieppe which was good for all competitive skaters. We were well represented by
9 skaters at the Skate Canada Challenge in Edmonton, AB as well as Nationals with Lisa Ann
McGaghey. SCNB will continue to support NB competitive skaters through financial assistance,
skating clinics and with the guidance of our Director of Development.
Each year, our STAR Skaters represent us very well at the Atlantic Canada Skating Championship in
Nova Scotia. This year, we will have more than 50 skaters competing at this Atlantic competition in
April. Good luck to all.
Throughout the past 5 years, we’ve seen synchronized skating grow in our province. This year we had
a team from the Riverview Skating Club represent us at Nationals in Ontario. Furthermore, a
considerable amount time and effort has been put in order to increase our synchro skating officials
capacity in our province. This work will continue in years to come.
I would be remiss not to mention our Special Olympic Skaters. Again this year, these skaters have
represented us very well at SO Winter Games in Newfoundland. Bravo!
I would like to thank my fellow board members and the staff at Skate Canada New Brunswick for their
commitment to both the cause and the organization. It is a pleasure serving with people who are
engaged and truly dedicated to giving their very best.
The theme of this year’s AGM, New Beginnings, reflects what Skate Canada New Brunswick will be
embarking which is the continuance of forward thinking policies we set and governance model. This
will allow us to achieve our strategic plan objectives as well as providing opportunities for all to
participate in skating throughout their lifetime for fun, fitness and achievement.

Cette année a été productive et revigorante pour Patinage Canada Nouveau-Brunswick. Nous avons
inculqué de nouvelles façons de penser tout en continuant de conduire les affaires du CA. Nous avons
passé un nombre considérable d’heures à examiner tous les règlements administratifs et toutes les

politiques de PCNB et à rédiger la nouvelle constitution de PCNB. Ces changements étaient essentiels
puisque notre organisation nationale de sport, Patinage Canada, a aussi effectué une mise à jour
complète de ses documents constitutifs à la suite des modifications apportées à la Loi canadienne sur
les organisations à but non lucratif, en 2014. De plus, nous avons modifié la structure de gouvernance
de notre organisation, ce qui devrait nous mettre en terrain sûr pour les prochaines années.
En ce qui concerne le patinage, nous avons collaboré avec succès avec nos sections voisines en
accueillant le championnat de section NB-NÉ-ÎPE à Dieppe, qui a été positif pour tous les patineurs de
compétition. Nous avons bien été représentés par 9 patineurs au Défi de Patinage Canada, tenu à
Edmonton, en Alberta, et au championnat national, par Lisa Ann McGaghey. PCNB va continuer de
soutenir les patineurs de compétition du N.-B. grâce à une aide financière, des ateliers de patinage et
les conseils de notre directeur de développement.
Chaque année, nos patineurs STAR nous représentent très bien au Championnat de patinage du
Canada atlantique, en Nouvelle-Écosse. Cette année, plus de 50 de nos patineurs y participeront, en
avril. Bonne chance à tous!
Au cours des 5 dernières années, le patinage synchronisé a pris de l’ampleur dans notre province.
Cette année, une équipe du club de patinage de Riverview nous a représentés au championnat
national, en Ontario. De plus, nous avons consacré beaucoup de temps et d’efforts pour avoir plus
d’officiels de patinage synchro dans notre province. Nous continuerons en ce sens au cours des
prochaines années.
Je serais négligent de ne pas mentionner nos patineurs d’Olympiques Spéciaux. Encore cette année,
ces patineurs nous ont très bien représentés aux Jeux d’hiver d’Olympiques Spéciaux, à Terre-Neuve.

Je tiens à remercier mes collègues du conseil d’administration et les membres du personnel de
Patinage Canada Nouveau-Brunswick pour leur engagement envers la cause et l’organisation. C’est un
plaisir de servir avec des gens engagés et véritablement dévoués à faire tous les efforts possibles.
Le thème de l’AGA de cette année, Un nouveau départ, reflète la voie sur laquelle Patinage Canada
Nouveau-Brunswick s’apprête à s’engager, en continuité avec les politiques avant-gardistes que nous
avons établies et notre nouvelle structure de gouvernance. Cela nous permettra d’atteindre les
objectifs de notre plan stratégique et donnera à tous l’occasion de patiner toute la vie, pour le plaisir,

SCNB is continuing to evolve and this year it hit the reset button. On February 20th, a Special Meeting
was held, and the membership adopted a completely revamped Constitution. This guiding document,
along with our Vision - Inspiring all New Brunswickers to embrace the joy of skating - and Values FAIR.E =
Fostering collaboration. Accountability. Inspiring passion & pride. Respect. Encouraging excellence will bring our Section “Towards New Beginnings”.
To me, the start of the skating season begins at Club Development Day (CDD). Unlike previous years,
we did not really have a theme for CDD and workshops for skaters were held. Nutrition, mental
health, program components were some of the topics addressed. We will continue to hold CDD but
the Board decided to rebrand CDD to Skate NB Day because we will continue to include skaters and
coaches; CDD’s initial concept was to inform Clubs but it too has evolved to include our entire skating
family, thus Skate NB Day.
In terms of competitions, not only did SCNB continue its partnership with SCPEI for Sectionals but we
also partnered with SCNS. This is a great opportunity for all our members: more competition for our
skaters, pooling officials and being self-sufficient within the Maritimes are but some advantages to
having a Maritime Provinces Sectionals.
Challenge was held in Edmonton and our skaters, as always, represent us well. This year, we also had
Lissa Anne McGaghey who qualified for Canadians. We should be really proud of our skaters. Even
with great pressure, they skate with smiles on and give it their all. Bravo! Once again, I was honoured
to be chosen as team manager. Like in previous years, we had a team room for skaters that was
parent- and coach-free (new this year). Also a first, we had a table tennis (ping-pong table). As always,
thank you Steven Keith for your support and putting up with my demands! I would be remiss not to
mention that Challenge would not be as great if we did not have dedicated team leaders. Thank you
Wendy Stokes and Sabrina Scott Van der Pluijm!
Winter Skate and Provincial STARSkate are very important for our STARSkaters. Both comeptitions
serve as qualifiers for the Atlantic Canada Skating Championships (ACSC, aka Skate Atlantica). I am
happy to see that we have more competitors in the Senior Silver and Gold categories. Congratulations
to all skaters who qualified to ACSC! I know you represent SCNB well on the ice and in the stands with
the NB flags!
Two Special Olympians, Molly Kane and Janie Basque, headed to Corner Brook, Newfoundland for the
2016 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games. Both skaters returned home with medals for NB. Molly
won the gold medal in Level I Solo Dance and silver in Level II free skate. Janie won silver medal in
Level IV Solo Dance. Congratulation girls!
For the first time in many years, if ever, we had a team competing at the National Synchronized
Skating Championships. Congratulations to the Riverview Royalty team!

Another partnership SCNB has with SCPEI is that our provincial synchro championships are held on
the Island. This partnership has been in place for quite a few years. Again, resources are pooled and
our skaters have more competition. Congratulations to our provincial champions!
Kim MacVey, our CanSkate Resource Team (CRT) member, visited a few NB clubs this season as part
as the CanSkate Club Support Consultation program. This program is largely funded by Skate Canada
but the Section also contributed this season. The main purpose of these consultations is to support
the delivery of the CanSkate program in our clubs. It is anticipated that these consultations will
continue next season.
Kim MacVey is one busy coach. Not only does she coach, is our CRT member, but she also coordinates
the NCCP affairs for our Section which entails many many hours of work. Without Kim, we would not
have the great coach training opportunities in our Section. THANK YOU Kim!
SCNB competitions would not be possible without Club Local Organizing Committees (sometimes
these can be Regional Local Organizing Committees). Many hours are spent by numerous volunteers
before an event. Further, without Officials, schedules would not be made, skaters would not be
judged, elements would not be called and results would not be posted. Thank you to the following
Clubs for ensuring that our skaters would have competitions:

• Fall Skate – Sackville Skating Club
• Sectionals – Dieppe Gold Blades

Much patience was needed in 2015-16. With registration changes at Skate Canada, club volunteers
were faced with big challenges. Like SCNB, Skate Canada is evolving and striving to better serve its
members. We all had to learn this year.
What is SCNB up to in 2016-17? Our Skate NB Day will focus on STARSkate with the myriad of changes
happening in this program. We will revamp our website, continue informing our members, review
our competition structure to better align with LTAD, govern with a brand-new Constitution and Board,
review our policies, and as always, strive for the best for our skaters!

PCNB continue à évoluer et, cette année, a pressé la touche « réinitialiser »! Le 20 février, une réunion
extraordinaire a eu lieu et les membres ont adopté une constitution totalement remaniée. Ce

Section vers un Nouveau départ!
Pour moi, le début de la saison de patinage commence avec la Journée de développement des clubs
(JDC). Contrairement aux années antérieures, nous n’avions pas vraiment un thème cette année pour
notre JDC et les ateliers pour les patineurs. Nous avons notamment parlé de nutrition, de santé
mentale et des composantes d’un programme. Nous continuerons d’avoir une JDC, mais le CA a
décidé de modifier la Journée de développement des clubs pour en faire une Journée Patinage NB, et
ce, pour continuer d’inclure les patineurs et les entraineurs. Initialement, la JDC devait servir à
informer les clubs, mais elle a évolué et inclut dorénavant toute la famille de patinage, d’où le nom
Journée Patinage NB.
En ce qui concerne les compétitions, PCNB a poursuivi son partenariat avec SCPEI pour le
championnat de section et a établi un nouveau partenariat avec SCNS. C’est une excellente occasion
pour tous nos membres. Les avantages d’un championnat des provinces maritimes sont entre autres
les suivants : plus de compétitions pour nos patineurs, bassin d’officiels et être autonomes dans les
Maritimes.
Le Défi a eu lieu à Edmonton et nos patineurs, comme toujours, nous ont bien représentés. Cette
année, Lissa Anne McGaghey s’est qualifiée pour le championnat canadien. Nous avons raison d’être
fiers de nos patineurs. Même sous la pression, ils patinent le sourire aux lèvres et se donnent à fond.
Bravo!
Une fois de plus, j’ai eu l’honneur d’être choisie en tant que gérante d’équipe. Comme les années
précédentes, nous avions une pièce pour les patineurs, mais les parents et les entraineurs n’y avaient
pas accès (du nouveau cette année). Aussi une première, nous avions une table de tennis sur table
(ping-pong). Merci à Steven Keith pour son soutien et pour avoir acquiescé à mes demandes! Je tiens
aussi à mentionner que le Défi n’aurait pas été un tel succès sans nos dévoués leaders d’équipe. Merci
Wendy Stokes et Sabrina Scott Van der Pluijm!
Patinage hiver et le Championnat provincial Patinage STAR sont très importants pour nos patineurs
STAR. Les deux compétitions sont des épreuves de qualification pour le Championnat de patinage du
Canada atlantique (CPCA, ou Patinage Atlantica). Je suis heureuse de constater que nous avons plus
de compétiteurs dans les catégories Sénior Argent et Or. Félicitations à tous les patineurs qui se sont
qualifiés pour le CPCA! Je suis certaine que vous allez bien représenter PCNB sur glace et dans les
estrades, avec le drapeau du Nouveau-Brunswick!
Deux athlètes exceptionnelles d’Olympiques Spéciaux, Molly Kane et Janie Basque, sont allées à
Corner Brook, à Terre-Neuve, pour les Jeux d’hiver d’Olympiques Spéciaux 2016. Les deux patineuses
y ont remporté des médailles : Molly a remporté une médaille d’or en danse solo niveau 1 et une
médaille d’argent en patinage libre niveau 2; Janie a remporté une médaille d’argent en danse solo
niveau 4. Félicitations les filles!

Pour la première fois depuis plusieurs années, si même c’est le cas, l’une de nos équipes a participé
au Championnat national de patinage synchronisé. Félicitations à l’équipe Royalty de Riverview!
PCNB a un autre partenariat avec SCPEI concernant le Championnat provincial de patinage
synchronisé, qui est tenu sur l’île. Ce partenariat est en place depuis quelques années. Encore une
fois, les ressources sont mises en commun et nos patineurs ont plus d’occasions de compétition.
Félicitations à nos champions provinciaux!
Kim MacVey, notre membre de l’équipe ressource Patinage Plus, a visité quelques clubs du NB cette
saison dans le cadre du programme de consultations d’appui aux clubs Patinage Plus. Ce programme
est financé en grande partie par Patinage Canada, mais la Section a aussi contribué cette saison.
L’objectif principal de ces consultations est de soutenir la prestation du programme Patinage Plus
dans nos clubs. On prévoit d’autres consultations la saison prochaine.
Kim MacVey est une entraineure occupée. Elle est entraineure, elle est notre membre de l’équipe
ressource et elle coordonne les affaires du PNCE pour notre Section, ce qui signifie de nombreuses
heures de travail. Sans Kim, nous n’aurions pas les superbes possibilités de formation aux entraineurs
dans notre Section. MERCI Kim!
Les compétitions de PCNB ne seraient pas possibles sans les comités organisateurs locaux des clubs
(ce sont parfois des comités organisateurs régionaux). Plusieurs bénévoles consacrent plusieurs
heures avant une compétition. Sans les officiels, les horaires ne seraient pas établis, les patineurs ne
seraient pas jugés, les éléments ne seraient pas reconnus et les résultats ne seraient pas affichés.
Merci aux clubs suivants de s’assurer que nos patineurs ont des compétitions :

Qu’est-ce qui attend PCNB en 2016-2017? Notre Journée Patinage NB mettra l’accent sur Patinage
STAR en raison des nombreux changements apportés à ce programme. Notre site Web fera peau
neuve; nous continuerons d’informer nos membres et d’examiner notre structure de compétitions
pour un meilleur alignement avec DLTA; nous gouvernerons en fonction de notre nouvelle
constitution et de notre nouveau CA; nous réviserons nos politiques et, comme toujours, nous
viserons ce qu’il y a de mieux pour nos patineurs!
Finalement, MERCI à tous nos bénévoles! Sans vous, PCNB ne pourrait pas fonctionner!

The objective of my part time position continues to focus on assessing where I can best assist the
coaches in order to provide the best tools possible for them to develop their skaters and to
help those skaters achieve their goals. Here is a summary of the activities that have been worked
on and accomplished this past season which were all in conjunction with Steven Keith,
Competitive Skater Development Chairperson and his committee.
Meetings / Conferences:
- Technical Meeting at Skate Canada’s National Development Camp: Toronto, April 23
• A technical lead from each Section attended a meeting to discuss various
technical development opportunities and challenges for the upcoming season.
- ACGM and National Coaching Conference: Winnipeg, May 27‐31
• Assisted the ACGM and the NCC as a member of Skate Canada’s Coaching
Development Committee and was able to assist many informative workshops.
- Provincial High Performance follow up session: Fredericton, June 16
• Attended a High Performance Sport Summit follow up session. The focus was to
discuss NB’s high performance sport vision, goals and sub‐goals, also to identify the
key priorities and actions in high performance sport. We also discussed some roles
and responsibilities to deliver sports excellence in the province.
- Optimizing Recovery workshop: Fredericton, October 21
• This session focused on a few key points for a competitive athlete to be able to fully
recover from a strenuous workout schedule. Some factors that were discussed
were cryotherapy (the use of cold water), sleeping patterns/strategies and loading a
training program.
Seminars:
- Joanne McLeod and Jeremy Ten Seminar: April 3‐5, 2015
• Joanne and Jeremy conducted a very good seminar and all who attended
appreciated the seminar very much.
- Program Component Seminar with Beth Crane: September 19-‐20, 2015
• Beth is an ISU judge and an ISU technical controller who accepted to offer a
seminar on program components during our Club Development Day. The first day
was a power point presentation with examples of specific program components
while the second day was applied to an on-‐ice setting. The focus of this on-‐ice
session was to provide our skaters and coaches more details on how to improve
their PC mark. Beth came to us with an immense amount of experience to share
with our section, which was great for all who attended.
Monitoring sessions:
- I was able to offer monitoring on the following dates as well as through many e‐mails:
• Monitoring, Moncton Mariposa Summer School – June 26

• Simulation, Memramcook – August 27
• Simulation, Fredericton – November 14
- Follow up on the Yearly Planning Instruments (YPI) and the Run-‐Through sheets.
• Upon review of the YPI, the submission deadline has been changed from July 1 to
April 1 in order to better assess our athletes’ upcoming season.
Competitions:
- I attended Octoberfest and Challenge this year in a team coach role in order to be of
assistance to those skaters whose coach would be unable to attend due to the financial
burden on the family. I assisted Lissa Anne McGaghey for both competitions, which went
extremely well.
- I was able to offer feedback to our NB skaters competing at the following competitions,
either on site or through e-‐mails after the events.

Fitness Testing:
We were able to organize a fitness test on November 14 for the majority of our SCNB team
members going to Challenge and this test was conducted by Canadian Sports Centre Atlantic. This
fitness test module that we used was forwarded to me by Skate Canada who also uses this fitness
test on our national team members. The objective of this initiative is to help skaters and coaches
understand the importance of elite fitness and to offer a continuum in the season to come.

Mon objectif en tant que directeur du développement à temps partiel est de continuer à voir
comment je peux aider le plus possible les entraineurs afin de leur fournir les meilleurs outils
possible leur permettant de développer leurs patineurs et d’aider ces patineurs à atteindre leurs

 Réunion technique au camp de développement national de Patinage Canada, à Toronto, le

• Un leader technique de chaque section a assisté à une réunion pour discuter d’une
variété de possibilités de développement technique et des défis pour la prochaine
saison.
 Congrès annuel et assemblée générale (CAAG) et Conférence nationale des entraineurs
(CNE), à Winnipeg, du 27 au 31 mai
• J’ai assisté au CAAG et à la CNE en tant que membre du comité de développement
des entraineurs de Patinage Canada, et j’ai participé à de nombreux ateliers
informatifs.
 Séance provinciale de haute performance (suivi), à Fredericton, le 16 juin
• J’ai participé à la séance de suivi du Sommet sur le sport de haute performance.
Nous avons principalement discuté de la vision pour le sport de haute performance
au NB, des objectifs et des sous-objectifs. Nous avons également déterminé les
principales priorités et mesures dans le sport de haute performance. Et nous avons
parlé de quelques rôles et responsabilités pour favoriser l’excellence dans le sport au
NB.
 Atelier sur la récupération optimale, à Fredericton, le 21 octobre
• Cette séance portait sur les quelques éléments importants permettant aux athlètes
de compétition de récupérer pleinement d’un horaire d’entrainement rigoureux.
Nous avons notamment discuté de cryothérapie (utilisation de l’eau froide), des
habitudes et stratégies de sommeil et de l’élaboration d’un programme d’entrainement.
Séminaires :
 Séminaire offert par Joanne McLeod et Jeremy Ten, du 3 au 5 avril 2015
• Joanne et Jeremy ont animé un très bon séminaire que tous les participants ont
beaucoup aimé.
 Séminaire sur les composantes d’un programme offert par Beth Crane, les 19 et 20
septembre 2015
• Beth est juge ISU et contrôleuse technique ISU. Elle a accepté d’offrir un atelier
portant sur les composantes d’un programme dans le cadre de la Journée de
développement de notre club. La première journée, nous avons visionné une
présentation PowerPoint où elle indiquait des exemples de composantes d’un
programme particulier. La deuxième journée était une séance pratique sur glace; le
but étant de fournir aux entraineurs et aux patineurs plus d’information sur la
manière d’améliorer la note PC. Beth possède beaucoup d’expérience, qu’elle a bien
voulu partager avec notre section. Tous les participants ont adoré.

 Cette année, j’ai participé à l’Octoberfest et au Défi en tant qu’entraineur d’équipe pour
aider les patineurs dont les entraineurs n’étaient pas en mesure de participer en raison
du fardeau financier que cela représente pour leur famille. J’ai aidé Lissa Anne
McGaghey pour les deux compétitions, qui se sont bien passées pour elle.
 J’ai pu offrir une rétroaction à nos patineurs de compétition lors des compétitions
suivantes (sur place ou par courriel, après la compétition) :

Test sur la condition physique :
 Nous avons pu organiser un test sur la condition physique le 14 novembre pour la
majorité des équipes membres de PCNB qui participaient au Défi, conduit par le Centre
canadien du sport de l’Atlantique. Le module de conditionnement physique utilisé m’a
été envoyé par Patinage Canada, qui a aussi utilisé ce test sur la condition physique sur
nos équipes nationales membres. L’objectif de cette initiative était d’aider les patineurs
et les entraineurs à comprendre l’importance d’une condition physique supérieure et
d’offrir une continuation la saison prochaine.

The 2015-2016 season was a busy year for the Competitive Skater Development Programs committee.
Our committee consists of Raoul LeBlanc, Director of Development; Vicky Gina Doucette, Officials
Representative; Nicole LeBlanc-Richard, Technical Representative; and Carole Thiffault, VP Programs.
I would like to extend my thanks to each of these committee members for their hard work and
dedication to our athletes this season.
I also like to especially thank Lise Auffrey-Arsenault, our Executive Director, who is an invaluable
resource committed to the success of each and every one of our athletes. Merci Lise!
As in previous years, the committee worked to provide a number of development opportunities for
our competitive athletes and coaches.
1. A seminar with Joanne McLeod and 2015 national silver medalist Jeremy Ten was held on April
3-4, 2015 in Dieppe. Joanne and Jeremy worked with our athletes both on and off the ice
emphasizing the importance of hard work, commitment and dedication on the path to
success.
2. A clinic with Beth Crane was held in conjunction with Club Development Day focused on
educating our coaches and athletes on Program Components. This clinic was well attended by
both athletes and coaches.
As always, we continue to learn from the feedback we receive from coaches, athletes, and parents
following seminars and do our best to incorporate that feedback into our future plans.
Exposure funding was once again distributed to competitive athletes to assist with the cost of
attending out of province training and competitions. Funding was also distributed for Own the Jump
following summer and fall competitions.
Following a successful Sectionals, the Challenge Team was named. Simulations and fitness testing
were held in Fredericton on November 14, 2015 for athletes prior to Challenge. Athletes were able to
perform and receive feedback on both their short and free programs.
Our 9 Challenge athletes represented our province well in Edmonton, Alberta this year. Lissa-Anne
McGaghey finished 8th in Novice women, qualifying for her first Nationals in Halifax where she finished
11th in Canada! Congratulations Lissa-Anne!! I’d like to thank Lise Auffrey-Arsenault, Sabrina Van der
Pluijm, and Wendy Stokes for their hard work, organization, and motivation managing our team of
athletes at Challenge.
Similar to last season, funding was provided to athletes attending Challenge in 3 ways:
- Travel Bursaries for all competitive team members
- Performance Funding – based on technical elements performed in programs
- Placement Funding – based on final placement of both Challenge and Nationals

Planning for our next season is already well underway. We’re very excited to welcome back Christy
Krall for a seminar with Erik Schulz, April 16-17 in Bathurst. Private lessons with Christy and Erik are
scheduled for April 18-19 in Bathurst and Bouctouche respectively.
In conclusion, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for all the help provided this year by our
coaches, clubs, Board of directors, parents, and volunteers. Without your countless hours of
assistance, these simulations, seminars, competitions, and athlete development activities would not
be possible.

First, I would like to extend many thanks to all the people who contributed their knowledge and
know-how this year. Special thanks to the synchro committee. This committee consists of Carole
Thiffault, VP Programs, Sabrina Scott Van der Pluijm, Coaches Rep, Katelynn MacVey-Crawford,
Officials Rep, Christine McCarthy, Parents/Team Managers Rep and Meagan MacLellan, Athletes Rep.
Also, many many many thanks to Andrée-Josée Duclos, Wendy Stokes and Lise Auffrey-Arsenault for
their support and patience.
Second, thank you to all the athletes, parents, team managers, coaches, volunteers, officials, etc.
Without your dedication, enthusiasm and commitment, this synchro season would not have the
success that it was.
Overview
This has been a great year for Synchronized Skating in our Section and a real learning curve for me as
first year Synchro Chair. I have attended SCNB board meetings, made a presentation at Club
Development Day with the help of Sabrina Scott Van der Pluijm, drafted the synchronized skating
selection criteria and was present at the Atlantic Synchronized Skating Championships as an official. I
also managed to send out a synchro survey in order to collect information on the synchronized
skating needs in our Section. Furthermore, I started working on organizing a technical workshop for
synchro coaches with Katelynn MacVey-Crawford’s help. This workshop will be offered in May. More
information to follow soon.
Officials training
A Novice officials’ synchro clinic and a Jr/Sr officials’ synchro clinic were conjointly held in Riverview at
the end of September. Trial judging opportunities were sought for the candidates. Hopefully, some of
them will be ready to apply for a promotion by next year.
Teams registered and competitions
We have 12 teams registered in NB this year... Not bad, but I know that we can do better!
The 2016 Atlantic Regional Synchronized Skating Championships were held Jan 29-30th in
Summerside, PEI. In all, 12 teams from NB were in attendance. This was a very successful and well
organized event. Kudos to the PEI Section.
The Riverview Intermediate Royalty team attended for the first time the Skate Canada Synchronized
Skating Championships Feb 19-21st in Waterloo, ON. What a great learning experience for these
young synchro skaters! Bravo!

We once again had our Provincial Synchronized Championships in conjunction with the Prince Edward
Island Provincial Synchronized Championships March 6th in O’Leary, PEI. 6 teams from New Brunswick
attended. Congratulations to all the teams on their performances.
Why not synchro?
Synchronized skating combines the artistry and athleticism of figure skating with the excitement of
team sport. It’s no surprise that it is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. If you are looking
for a program where your skaters can have fun, grow as young athletes and succeed as team players,
then think of starting a synchronized skating team at your home club. You’ll be surprised how easy it
can be to get hooked on synchro!

Officials Committee | Comité des Officiels
This was a very busy season for our SCNB officials. I have attended SCNB board meetings when my
work schedule permitted.
Training and clinics
The season started with a Synchronized Novice/Junior judge clinic in September 2015. Moderator was
Jennifer Betts. Since the clinic, some candidates have been keeping busy with trial-judging and
working towards their Novice judge promotion. Many thanks go out to Michelle Aubé who organized
the clinic and has been overseeing the trial-judging of these officials. Hopefully promotions will be
granted next year.
Throughout the season, officials were kept up to date with changes and new rules as received by
Skate Canada. Communication and working with our neighbor sections (PEI and NS) Officials Chair
should continue to be a priority, especially when organizing clinics and seminars.
In regards to evaluator/judge training, again this season we could not offer a clinic and a list of
potential interested individuals has been kept. Hopefully next season SCNB will be able to organise a
Star1-4 clinic combined with a Juvenile judge clinic (best case scenario, would be held prior to a
competition for candidates to put in practice what they learned in a timely delay). We continued to
train individuals in the duties of Data Input and Video Reply Operators during competitions.
Promotions
SCNB judges/evaluators have been awarded the following:
- Nicole Leblanc-Richard: Program Component Moderator, ISU Singles and Pairs judge and
Canadian Singles referee
- Erica Topolski: working on International Ice Dance exam

Out-of-province assignments
SCNB Officials participated in a variety of section, national and international events during the 20152016 skating season. We had representation at SC Challenge, SC Canadian Championships, SC
Synchronized Atlantic Championships, Canada Winter Games, Atlantic Canada Skating Championships,
ISU Competitions and some out-of-province competitions. In regards to out-of-province trial-judging,
we did not send anybody out as the potential candidates were not available to do so, so next season
hopefully potential candidates will be available.
Test Days and Competitions
This season seemed to be better in terms of staffing our competitions, thanks to our dedicated
officials and also with having an open working relationship with PEI and NS. With Sectionals being

held with the 3 sections it certainly was very positive and well received as per comments from all
officials present. Regarding test days, staffing these seemed less an issue than previous years, but
mostly same evaluators covering test days, a priority will be to see about also recruiting new
evaluators to prepare for the future. The evaluator directory has been updated.
I would like to extend many thanks to all the technical representatives that gave that extra time and
work to make our competitions work and be successful (also including on-site technical
representative); Andrée-Josée Duclos, Katelyn Delahunt, Nicole Leblanc-Richard, Steve Keith, Paulette
Auffrey and Vicky Gina Doucette.
Thank you to our team of Data Specialist for their continued support and collaboration throughout
the season and during competitions.
I would also like to extend many thanks to Lise Auffrey-Arsenault for her continuous support and
Nicole Leblanc-Richard for her guidance and support….It is with a heavy heart that I will be stepping
away from SCNB board of directors as Officials chair but for the time being it was a decision I needed
to make. I have enjoyed the years on the board and no worries I will continue on as a SCNB
judge/evaluator which is the main reason I got involved in this sport I truly love.

In sum, our membership has decreased by approximately 12% this season. This downward trend is
also found in all other Sections across the country.

It has been an exciting year for STAR!
I would like to thank the STARSkate Programs Committee for their continuing effort and
commitment this season: Melissa L. Parker, Paulette Auffrey, Brittany Hicks and Mario
Richard. I would also like to say a huge thank you to Carole Thiffault, VP Programs.
The season kicked off with Club Development Day, where the ACSC Team members
were invited to participate in sessions surrounding nutrition and sports psychology.
The first STARSkate only clinic was October 24th in Bathurst and October 25th in
Riverview. Monica Lockie was the clinic moderator, who did a wonderful job. The clinic
was offered to STAR 2 up to Gold, Special Olympians and Adult competitors. There were
26 participants at the Bathurst location and 29 in Riverview. The skaters had a busy, fun
filled day, which included both on and off-ice sessions. I also offered a presentation on
the judging system to the parents. A clinic evaluation was sent out to gather feedback to
help plan future clinics. Overall the feedback was extremely positive.
The Skater of the Month program began running again in November. This season the
following skaters were chosen as skater of the month; Alyssa Evans, Mackenzie Scott,
Noah, Alex, Kaleb and Leonard and Catherine Noel. Congratulations Skaters!
The SCNB Atlantic Canadian Skating Championships Team criteria was amended in
November to include policies surrounding withdraws and byes.
Funding was provided to the 3 STARSkate Boys who attended the Black Boot Seminar
with Elvis Stojko in Dartmouth, NS on January 25th.
Mollie Kane and Janie McGraw represented New Brunswick at the Special Olympics
Winter Games in Corner Brook, Nfld February 29th- March 6th. Mollie won a gold medal
in solo dance and Janie won a silver medal in solo dance.
Skaters qualified at Winter Skate and Provincials for the Atlantic Canadian Skating
Championship Team. This year our team consists of 58 members, 49 of who competed
at ACSC in Lantz, NS April 8th-10th. I attended ACSC along with Steven Keith to provide
talent ID and support for our team.
Congratulations to the Adult competitors who represented New Brunswick at the Adult
Figure Skating Championships April 22-24 in Oakville, ON.
Congratulations to all our STARSkate coaches, volunteers, parents and most importantly
the athletes for their dedication and achievements this year!

The annual lottery campaign came to an end April 25, 2015 at the conclusion of the Awards Banquet.
Thirty-one of the thirty-two clubs participated. A great effort was made by all participating clubs.

Numbers show that approximately 24 000 tickets were sold by New Brunswick skaters. This translates
into an additional $ 12 000 being turned into our local clubs. What other fundraising activity
translates into a 50 % profit without expenses. The section pays all expenses (ticket printing, postage,
prizes).
32/33 clubs participated in this fundraising which is totally sponsored by SCNB. Thank you clubs for
participating.
This is the only fundraising project by SCNB. This project helps pays for training of Data Specialists,
Judges, workshops, funding for skaters, etc.

Athlete Representative | Représentante des athlètes
As Athlete Representative, I sat on a number of committees throughout the past three years
including the Skate NB Board of Directors and the Competitive Skater Development Committee.
Throughout the 2015-2016 season, I took part in a number of events occurring in the section.
I attended board meetings as well participated in the development of Skate NB’s new constitution. I
enjoyed taking part in these events to be informed of the issues occurring in the section, and the new
changes being implemented.
I attended the 2016 Skate New Brunswick Sectionals competition, where I was able to both
meet and catch up with the skaters, and discuss their performances. The skaters were pleased with
their performances and those who were moving onto the next stage were very excited. Those
continuing were eager to get back to training to work hard and improve their personal bests before
Challenge and Canada Games.
While preparing for the 2015 Skate Canada Challenge competition I worked with one of the
Team Leaders in keeping in contact with the skaters through a FaceBook group conversation to learn
their thoughts and ask questions regarding themselves and our sport. I also was able to hold a
meeting with the 2016 Skate NB Challenge Team in preparation for their competition and time in
Edmonton. They enjoyed their experiences and skating in front of a bigger crowd, as well as meeting
new skaters from across the country.
I then attended the 2014 Skate New Brunswick Provincial STARSkate, Adult and Special
Olympics Championships in late February. I had the opportunity to meet the skaters and watch some
of their performances. It was a weekend filled with great performances and many skaters excited to
move on to the Atlantic Canada Skating Championships. Here I assisted with selling Team NB jackets
to the skaters who were very excited to get their own!
My main objective is to make skaters aware that I am accessible to them and establish a good
rapport with all Skate New Brunswick athletes.

REGION 1 | RÉGION 1
CPA Malobiannah de Grand-Sault et le CPA Edmundston forment la région 1.
Les activités de la saison ont débuté en septembre par des Journées d’inscriptions ciblées par chacune
des villes représentant les clubs de la région. En septembre, chacun des clubs a offert un camp
d’automne à leurs membres. Quelques patineuses du CPA Edmundston ont participé à un mini camp
d’été offert par le club Perce Neige de Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac. Les patineuses du groupe junior –intersenior du CPA Edmundston ont été invitées à participer à des séances de mise en forme avec
l’entraîneur Mme Melissa L. Parker durant le mois d’août.
Une clinique pour les assistants de programme a été offerte pour l’ensemble des assistants de
programme de la région. Des nouvelles notions ont été ajouté à la formation afin d’être plus efficient
et plus appréciée par nos assistants de programme (adultes). Le club de patinage artistique
Malobiannah de Grand-Sault fut l’hôte de cette activité. Malgré une bonne instauration du
programme, les entraîneurs sont toujours à peaufiné cette offre de service en y ajoutant des atouts
particuliers afin de bien répondre à la demande et susciter l’intérêt des patineurs et assistants de
programme. Le CPA Edmundston a poursuivi cette année la remise d’un prix pour le Patineur de
l’année de Patinage Plus et de deux Champions de patineur de Patinage Plus. Durant la saison, le CPA
Edmundston a offert des sessions de gymnastique en raison d’une fois par semaine à ses membres. Le
CPA Malobiannah a également offert une session de mise en forme par semaine à chacun de ses
groupes.
Les patineuses du CPA Edmundston ont participé à différentes compétitions durant la saison 20152016, dont la Compétition d’automne à Sackville, Championnat de Section à Dieppe, Compétition
invitation de Trois-Pistoles, Compétition invitation Jocelyne Blier de Rimouski, Compétition d’hiver à
Dieppe et le Championnat provincial Star à Fredericton. Trois patineuses se sont classées pour le
Championnat de l’Atlantic qui aura lieu du 8 au 10 avril prochain en Nouvelle-Ecosse. Ces patineuses
sont Sarah Pelletier (Pré-Juvénile U13), Véronik Caron (Sénior Bronze) et Claudie Plourde (Sénior
argent). Marika Albert s’est mérité une place sur l’équipe comme patineuse substitue dans la
catégorie Star 5 U13.
Les patineuses du CPA Malobiannah ont participé également à différentes compétitions dont
Compétition invitation de Trois-Pistoles, Compétition d’hiver à Dieppe, Championnat provincial Star à
Fredericton et prendront part aussi à la Compétition de printemps à Bouctouche. Janelle GagnéWarden s’est classée pour participer au Championnat Atlantic. Félicitations à toutes ces patineuses
qui ont su représenter leur club et leur région avec fierté à chacune de ces compétitions.
Cette année, CPA Edmundston a acquis le programme Outlifter comme programme de gestion. M.
Richard Pelletier a mis plusieurs heures de bénévolats à la préparation du logiciel pour le début de la

saison. L’inscription des patineurs à Patinage Canada, la remise des reçus d’impôts selon la loi de
l’impôt et plusieurs autres tâches ont pu être effectuées à partir de ce logiciel. Il est facile de rendre
des comptes sur les revenus (imputables) et il est un bon moyen de communication entre les
membres. Afin d’améliorer la visibilité CPA Edmundston à la population, le club a maintenant sa page
facebook comme moyen de communication en plus de son site web.
Les deux clubs ont été très actifs durant la dernière saison. Les membres ont participé à la Journée
annuelle de développement à Dieppe. Les entraîneurs ont participé à la Journée de formation à
Bathurst.
Le CPA Edmundston a organisé en fin de saison une mini-compétition interne pour le groupe junior et
étape 4 et 5 du programme Patinage plus. Cette mini-compétition interne a comme objectif de faire
les démonstrations des habiletés acquis par les patineurs de ce niveau, permettre aux patineurs du
programme de Patinage plus qui veulent parfaire le sport à l’initiation de la prochaine saison.
Le Club Malobiannah a présenté son spectacle biannuel le 19 mars sous le thème « Autour du
monde ».
Durant la saison 2015-2016, les patineuses de bas niveau ont participé à deux sessions de tests
organisés par le CPA Perce Neige de Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac (QC). Pour les patineuses de haut niveau,
celles-ci ont participé à deux sessions de tests en décembre soit à Belledune et à Rivière-du-Loup
(QC). Afin d’offrir l’opportunité aux patineuses de notre région à faire des tests local, le CPA
Edmundston a organisé un test régional les 5-6 mars derniers. Plus de 90 tests ont été inscrits avec
une réussite de 84%. Plusieurs tests Or ont été acquis. Bravo à toutes les patineuses et aux
entraîneurs qui transmettent leur passion pour leur sport.
Encore cette année, les deux entraineurs certifiés de la région Natasha Sénéchal Sirois et Melissa L.
Parker ont su relever les défis et mener les activités et l’accomplissement des patineurs. Bravo et
merci à toutes les personnes qui les supportent et qui leur apporte soutien dans la mise en œuvre de
tous les programmes offerts dans chacun des clubs. Une autre belle saison se terminera bientôt pour
la région 1!

This year has been a busy year for our region’s clubs. CCSC is the largest club in the region and very
active with all off season schools as well as a large Can Skate numbers and a waiting list for most
sessions. Oromocto and Grand Lake have both been operating winter sessions and all clubs are in the
middle of planning their ice shows and most of the winter sessions will end in the next week or two.
CCSC will move right in to Spring Camp.

We held a morning clinic on the week before Christmas break, 29 skaters attended, all from CCSC and
were treated to 2 on ice sessions and an off ice session with UNB's Strength and Conditioning Coach
Ken Morrison. The kids enjoyed this session and found some great tips for their skating warm-ups and
training. Clinic was open to prejunior to Adult and utilized our city coaches.
Test day for the region is happening this week, and CCSC will be the host of this test day. A test day
was also held at OSC in March.
CCSC hosted Provincial Star Skate and it was held at Willie O’Ree and was a successful competition and
the venue was excellent for hosting. Five skaters from CCSC will represent NB at ACSC in April. Abbey
Walsh, Taylor Goodfellow, Sara Penney, Lily Derbyshire and Kelsey Tucker, we wish all these girls good
luck and great skates.
With the changing of the structure of the board, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the
fellow board members for a great few years. It has been a great learning experience and I thank you
for the opportunity. Looking forward to working with you in the future.
Region awards have been requested and are due back March and we will have our AGM mid- April.

The final few weeks of the regular season are coming to an end at most clubs in our Region. We are
now gearing up for Year End Test Day and Spring Skate competition. Registration is underway for
Spring School that is being hosted by KVFSC again this year in the month of April.
Highlights from the year:
6 Clubs active this year from Charlotte County to Sussex.
Registration up in most clubs with concerns voiced in Sussex and Hampton due to many outside
factors (Ice costs, economic downturn, etc.)
Attendance at all competitions by Region Skaters, Star Skate and competitive as well as several clinics.
December 2015, March 2016 and April 2016 Test Days (High Level, Partnered Dance and Low Level)
With the help of Government Funding we received in 2014-2015 we offered the following to our
Region skaters:

thanks to Steven Keith and Katelyn Delahunt for their help on this! This gave the skaters the
opportunity to perform their program before Evaluators to receive instant feedback prior to the
majority of competitions. We plan to make this a yearly event.
-We continued this year to offer assistance to help offset the costs associated with having a Dance
Partner available to practice and Test with our skaters during Test Days in December and March.
Concerns continue to be availability of volunteers as Program assistant and how to motivate and help
them understand their importance to the programs. Decline in registration and coaching are always
worries as well as how to compete with all the other activities available to children.
Special recognition to Sussex Skating Club who is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year!

All of the clubs in our region have been active and very busy this season.
Membership has decreased a bit in the 2015 -2016 year.
2 out of the 3 clubs in our region participated at the Club Development Day held in September 19,
2015.
Region 8 held a low and high level test day on December 19, 2015 and March 20, 2016 which were
both held in Belledune, NB
The Region held meetings on October 21, 2015, January 24 2016 and the AGM on April 6, 2016. All
the clubs attended the meetings.
The clubs in the region are in the process of planning their respective Canskate fun clinics which will
be held during the months of March and April 2016.
A few skaters from the Region attended the Sectional on November 6-8, 2015 in Dieppe with skaters
from our region attending the Challenge competition held on December 12, 2015 and one (1) skate
attending the Canadians. We are very proud of our skaters and their achievements.
Region 8 has participated in the various achievement awards.

Section lottery tickets were sold by all the clubs in the region.
The Dalhousie Figure Skating Club held its ice show on February 12, 2016. The Belledune Figure
Skating Club will hold its ice show on April 5, 2016 with the Campbellton Figure Skating holding its ice
show on April 17, 2016.
