When firefighters to
be exempted
from scrving
as jurors and
constables
1. Whenever a company of firefighters has
been regularly enrolled in a municipality with
the approval of the council of the municipality, the council shall direct the clerk to grant
to each member of the company a certificate
that he or she is enrolled in the company,
which certificate exempts the person named
therein, during the period of enrolment and
continuance in actual duty, from serving as a
juror or a constable. R.S.O. 1980, c. 165,
S. 1.
1 Si une municipalité, avec l'approbation
de son conseil, crée de façon réglementaire
un corps de pompiers, le conseil ordonne au
secrétaire de remettre à chacun des membres
de ce corps de pompiers un certificat attestant son appartenance à celui-ci. Ce certificat
exempte son titulaire d'être membre d'un
jury ou d'agir en qualité de constable pendant la durée de son mandat de pompier ou
tant qu'il exercera activement ces fonctions.

2.-(1) Upon complaint to the council of
neglect of duty by a member of such fire
company, the council shall examine into the
complaint and, for any such cause and also in
case a member of the company is convicted
of a breach of any of the rules legally made
for the regulation of the company, may, after
a hearing, strike off the name of any such
member from the Iist of the company and
thenceforward the certificate granted to the
member has no effect in exempting him or
her from any duty or service.
2 (1) Si le conseil est saisi d'une plainte
relative à une négligence dans ses devoirs
d'un membre de ce corps de pompiers, le
conseil doit examiner la plainte. Pour ce
même motif et si, d'autre part, le membre a
été reconnu coupable d'avoir enfreint une
règle légalement établie en vue de réglementer ce corps de pompiers, le conseil peut,
après audience, radier le membre. À la suite
de cette radiation, le membre ne peut se
prévaloir du certificat pour s'exempter d'une
obligation ou d'une fonction.
