Qatar French Arabian Breeders’ Challenge for three-year-old fillies
Group 1 PA, Friday October 1st at Saint-Cloud
KISS DE GHAZAL, A TOUCH OF CLASS
A duel was expected between the two stable companions Kiss de Ghazal (Dormane),
unbeaten in two starts and Chamade
de Ghazal (Dormane), who was
progressing.
But
that
never
materialised. In fact, even though
Chamade de Ghazal (Dormane) took
the lead, followed on her outside by
Salaamah (Njewman), the decisive
moment that would determine the
outcome of the race happened as
soon as they entered the final
straight. Having travelled on the rail,
Jean-Bernard Eyquem took Kiss de
Ghazal to the outside in the final
bend and she immediately signalled
that she was still had plenty in the
tank. While Chamade de Ghazal, as well as Salaamah were loosing ground, Kiss de Ghazal
took off. Coming from off the pace, Baraaqa (Sire d’Albret) finished really well, followed by
Djanet Monlau (Dormane) who took third place.
Winning trainer Jean-François Bernard
appreciated his filly’s talent when he said: “She
confirmed what I always thought of her. She did
it well and I can only repeat that I think she is
very good. On the other hand, Chamade de
Ghazal was disappointing, a little tired. It was
the first time that she ran on a left handed track
and she never relaxed. On top of that she came
here after Toulouse and Deauville and maybe it
was too much to ask of such a little filly. That’s
what I have to say now, immediately after the
race. You could see that she was never at ease
during the race.”
A second daughter of Kaoe de Ghazal (Kesberoy), a good mare that was trained by JeanPierre Totain, Kiss de Ghazal put the spotlight onto the breeding operation of M. Jean
Cambon who often produces very good Arabians. A successful breeding operation
complemented by the training skills of Jean-François Bernard and helped by a very good
jockey. That is the right recipe for another French success!

KISS DE GHAZAL, ECLAIR DE CLASSE
On attendait une lutte entre les deux compagnes de casaque Kiss de Ghazal (Dormane),
invaincue et deux sorties et Chamade
de Ghazal (Dormane), qui progressait
mais que nenni ! En effet, même si la
seconde prenait rapidement la direction
des opérations, suivie sur son extérieur
par
Salaamah
(Njewman)
en
embuscade, la décision allait se faire
rapidement dès l’amorce de la ligne
droite finale. Bien calée le long de la
lice, Kiss de Ghazal était déboîtée à la
fin du tournant par Jean-Baptiste
Eyquem et s’annonçait en pleine piste,
pleine de ressources. Elle se détachait
alors librement tandis que Chamade de
Ghazal, perdait du terrain en compagnie
de Salaamah. Surgissant de l’arrière-garde, Baraaqa (Sire d’Albret) terminait dans une
remarquable action suivie par Djanet Monlau (Dormane) qui complétait le podium final.
L’entraîneur de la lauréate, Jean-François
Bernard, appréciait en connaisseur le succès de
sa protégée : « Elle a confirmé tout ce qu’on
pensait d’elle. Elle le fait très bien et je le dis et
le répète, elle est très bonne. Par contre,
Chamade de Ghazal s’est montrée décevante, un
peu défraîchie. Elle courait pour la première fois
corde à gauche et n’a jamais respirée. De plus,
elle avait les courses de Toulouse et Deauville
dans les jambes et c’était peut être difficile pour
cette petite pouliche. C’est ce que je peux dire « à
chaud ». On voyait bien qu’elle n’était pas très à
l’aise. »
Fille de Kaoe de Ghazal (Kesberoy), une bonne jument entraînée par Jean-Pierre Totain, dont
c’est le 2e produit, Kiss de Ghazal met à l’honneur l’élevage de M. Jean Cambon qui a
souvent produit de bons chevaux arabes. Un élevage reconnu associé au travail d’orfèvre de
Jean-François Bernard et piloté par un très bon jockey, voilà la recette bien connue d’un
nouveau succès tricolore !
