Quiz 1, part 2, should be done as homework. Guidelines: Ask students to find all the sports/activities mentioned in the text, match them with the places where they are/can be practiced or how to seek lessons, and add how these sports could help people. Provide the table with the activity words bolded. Students have 5 minutes, in pairs, to find as many famous French sports champions as they can in any sport. If the teacher does not know some of the names, students have to explain who they are. Game 2 – Game 2 is a who am I? type of game, but is dedicated to sports and hobbies. A student chooses a sport or a hobby and other students have to ask questions to guess what it is. Only yes-or-no questions are allowed. Tips Game 1 is a short and easy game that is ideal for ending a lesson. Game 2 takes more time and requires some vocabulary. Depending on the students’ level, dictionaries or Internet access to check vocabulary could be allowed. The teacher also can provide the missing vocabulary. However, teacher should let students know that if vocabulary is missing for accessories and places to practice sports/activities, they also can ask questions. Role play In pairs, students prepare a short dialogue between a doctor and his/ her patient who is nervous, tired, and needs to do sports and relax with a fun hobby. However, the patient is lazy and doesn’t like anything that the doctor suggests. Guidelines for role play Teacher should indicate how to end the role play; either the doctor gives up or he/she manages to convince his/her patient. Teacher should advise students to use the impératif (as the doctor) as in the text. Copyright © 2000-2012 Internet Order, LLC. If students follow all three guidelines, they should use much of the new vocabulary they have learned.
