Who Are We?
The Moroccan Center for Export
Promotion is a governemental
institution founded on December
17, 1976 (Hija 25, 1396) by Dahir
NO 1-76-385.
MAROC EXPORT endowed with a
legal responsibility and financial
auto- nomy, it also under the
super vision of delegate Ministry
to the Ministry of Industry, Trade,
Investment and Digital Economy in
charge of foreign trade.
The Center is in charge of promoting
the export of industrial and agricultural
products, services, and any products
that do not fall under the jurisdiction of
other administrations or organizations,
by virtue of law or regulation.
In fact, handicrafts and tourism promotion
are governed respectively by The
House of Handicrafts and the national
Office of Tourism.

All therapeutic classes are covered by local production, digestive system drugs, metabolism,
anti-infective, central nervous system and apparatus and cardiovascular drugs predominate
in Moroccan consumption.

Generics are present substantially at antibiotics drugs, digestive system medicines, metabolism
drugs, cardiovascular drugs, musculoskeletal and nervous system drug as well as in medications fo
the respiratory tract.

Summary of the key figures of 2013 :
The Moroccan pharmaceutical industry is, by its size, second place across the African continent, after South Africa, with 32 industrial units, 50 distributors and more than 11,000 pharmacies. Local production covers 65% of domestic demand and the country exports 7-8% of its
production, in particular to neighboring African countries. Morocco is ranked Zone Europe by
the World Health Organization, based on the quality of manufactured drugs.
The Moroccan pharmaceutical industry provides today nearly 40,000 direct and indirect
jobs, and satisfies nearly all national needs in medicines, as it currently produces 307.4 million
units. Based on the latest statistics from the International Medical Statistics (IMS), the Moroccan pharmaceutical industry generates on the private market an annual turnover of 8.9 billion
dirhams.

A GROWING COMPANY
With a portfolio of more than 350
pharmaceutical presentations, distributed on several therapeutic ranges
and presented in all forms, Pharma 5
was able to record an annual average growth of 23 % since its creation
in 1985.
Pharma 5 employs more than 1000
persons with a rate of supervision ratio
superior to 30 %.
Built on more than 20 years of successful presence, Pharma 5 laboratories set up a new production unit that
includes the most successful technological qualities, for a total investment of
dirhams 210 million.
A REFERENCE IN QUALITY CONTROL
With 40 service managers and last
generation technological and scientific equipment, they have a control
laboratory which constitutes a national reference in terms of quality control.
Compliant with the Good Manufacturing practices, the industrial unit has
settled as an objective to meet the
quality requirements of international
agencies with the aim to obtain the
approval of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA - USA) and the French
Agency of Sanitary Security the Health
Products (AFSSAPS - France).
In 2009 and 2010, Pharma 5 was the
only Moroccan private laboratory to
participate to interlaboratories tests
organized by the EDQM (European
Directorate for the Quality of Drug)
The results have always been positive.
R&D : A SPEARHEAD IN THE POLITIC
OF GROWTH
All department activities take place in
a very strict regulatory framework set
by the Moroccan health authorities
following the AFSSAPS (french health
product safety agency) themselves,
the WHO (World Health Organisation), the GMP Good Manufacturing
Practices and the ICH.
Endowed with human and technological resources of great competence, performance and polyvalency,
this department is engaged, within
the framework of its missions, in a
partnership with
national and international renowned
experts in collaboration with faculties
of medicine and pharmacy in an exchange as well as centers of bioanalytical allowing Pharma 5 to highlight
its knowledge.
Besides, the eclectic nature of Pharma 5’s R&D department ensures new
perspectives of development and new
opening opportunities in the field of
academic research.
EXPORT AS A KEY DRIVER
Pharma 5’s focus on developping a
new businesses allowed them to expand their presence in new markets
(France, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, Mali, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Benin,
Togo, Republic of Congo ‘Brazzaville’,
Democratic Republic of the Congo
‘Kinshasa’, Mauritania, Guinea, Niger,
Algeria, Iraq, Libya, Madagascar,
Mauritius, etc…).
Pharma5 is now present in more than
35 countries (8% of Group’s total revenues made outside Morocco) and has
the commercial strength that allows it
to increase its footprint in new markets
outside Morocco. Moreover, Pharma
5 is the first and only Moroccan pharmaceutical company that is entitled to
market its product within the GCC (Gulf
Cooperation Council : Saudi Arabia,
United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman,
Bahrain and Qatar) as well as Yemen
and Sudan.
