RESUME : La ballerine classique fascine. Elle exerce un art devenu rare, un métier aussi
exigeant que méconnu, et fascine d’autant plus que son destin paraît fragile. Il est toutefois
un pays où elle ne faiblit pas et continue de rayonner. Ce pays, c’est la Russie. L’auteur du
film, Bertrand Normand, amateur de danse classique, est depuis longtemps impressionné
par la singularité des ballerines russes sur scène. Il est parti à Saint-Pétersbourg à la
découverte de ce qui fait l’unicité de ces danseuses et en a dégagé un projet de film de
grande ampleur, car au travers de cette recherche personnelle, il a développé une
approche du ballet classique, de son univers et du pouvoir qu’il exerce sur les spectateurs,
qu’il veut désormais transmettre au grand public. Ballerina racontera sa quête.
Franchissement du rideau qui sépare le spectateur de l’artiste sur scène, mais aussi de
celui dont est encore voilé ce pays, cette quête l’a mené au Théâtre Mariinski, jadis nommé
Kirov, qui a vu éclore depuis des siècles des chorégraphes et interprètes hors du commun.
Il y a rencontré Alina, Ulyana, Evgenia, Svetlana et Diana, qui seront les principaux
personnages du film. Femmes aux personnalités radicalement différentes, jeunes
danseuses débutant leur carrière ou étoiles mondialement connues, elles illustrent
ensemble les étapes et enjeux fondamentaux de la vie de ballerine.

l'autorisation de suivre les danseurs, les chorégraphes et les administrateurs dans tous les
aspects de leur vie professionnelle... L'expression et la performance artistiques sont des

"Ballet", un film sur l'American Ballet Théâtre. Ce film suit cette compagnie en répétitions

This series allows students of French and Social Science to discover the French culture,
the fascinating variety of its major regions and cities and the people who live within them.
The CDROMs included with each of the DVDs contain teacher’s notes, transcriptions,
vocabulary, activities, puzzles and slide show.
These productions are extremely unique in that there is no commentary - this allows
teachers to adapt the material to the level of the class so the same material can in fact be

This five part drama tells the story of a group of teenagers who raise money through
organising a concert to transform a run-down cafe into a popular teenage venue. Language
level of the script is carefully controlled and presents real, everyday French for students
who already have some familiarity with the language.
Le Café des Rêves,
Rêves filmed on location in Lille, France, is a French language educational
mini-series. The series, which is made up of five 20 minute episodes, was made by the BBC
for British secondary school students, aged between 13 and 15, learning French.
The plot follows five young people named Serge, Marco, Nathalie, Isabelle and Djamal as
they redecorate and run a cafe. Originally named "Café des Abbatoirs", which means
Slaughterhouse Café, the teenagers rename it "Café des Rêves", meaning "Café of
Dreams". The main character is Serge, a fifteen year old boy. His dad goes to Africa to work $215.00
as a chef, so he stays at his parent's café under the tutelage of his grandmother. His friends SPECIAL
are Nathalie, Isabelle, Djamal and Marco. Nathalie has a crush on Serge but doesn't admit
it. Marco loves to rap and wants to be a rapper. Isabelle and Djamal are dating. Isabelle's
mother doesn't like Djamal because he is an Arab, and doesn't want Isabelle seeing him.
Djamal has an older brother, Karim, who is having some problems with debt. Karim
borrowed money from two guys, Gérard and Bertrand, who want their money back. A young
English man called Wayne soon shows up, homeless and seemingly on the hunt for things to
steal. Mme Lambin, Serge's grandmother, goes out on the town, but is viciously attacked by
a mystery person, who drives off in a sports car. Mme Lambin is in a coma, and is rushed
into hospital.
But the plot thickens. The police find out that Serge is living by himself and attempt to put
him in an orphanage. Just before they enter the building, however, Mme Lambin's friends
and Isabelle's mother show up with papers informing the police of Serge's situation, namely
that Serge will be under the guardianship of Dédé and Jeannot (his grandmother's friends) –
his father is in Africa, his grandmother in the hospital. Isabelle's mother admits that she
called the police in the first place, as she was bitter about Isabelle and Djamal. She appears
to fully regret her actions. As Serge leaves, a mysterious boy stares down at him from a
high window, his hands pressed against the glass…
