Mille-Isles, le 28 octobre 2009 – Suite à une absence de près de 20 ans de la scène musicale de
Montréal, Stacy Jones lance aujourd’hui un nouvel album qui marque son retour. « Back to the
Highway » a une saveur des années 80 qui ont marqué sa brève carrière et ses succès antérieurs mais
avec une touche actualisée. Sur les 13 pièces offertes sur cet album, on retrouve une présence accrue
des cuivres, du piano et de la guitare acoustique qui lui confère un style et un son propre à lui.
L’album « Back to the Highway » propose des pièces à la fois rythmées et douces. La présence des
violons comme base dans la plupart des chansons, accompagnés par des rythmes de guitare, de piano
et de cuivres, amène une dimension envoûtante qui accroche l’esprit. On est sans aucun doute
transporté par l’atmosphère qui s’en dégage. De plus, les accroches sont marquées. Le ton de la voix
demeure unique au genre et coule bien avec le style proposé qui reflète bien l’influence des années 80.
Les thèmes présentés sont quelques peu contestataires d’une société en mal de vivre. On y aborde
entre autres le jugement des autres face aux gestes posées par certains. Le style d’écriture utilisé par
Stacy Jones emprunte beaucoup d’analogies qui rendent les chansons propres à lui. Le style musical
est en quelque sorte un mixte entre le folk rock des années 70-80 et le pop des années 80. On y
découvre donc quelque chose d’original qui se démarque bien de ce qu’on peut entendre aujourd’hui.

Pendant son absence de la scène musicale, Stacy Jones a travaillé en création publicitaire et collaboré
à plusieurs trames commerciales en plus de s’impliquer dans l’écriture de séries pour la télévision. Il a
aussi collaboré à l’enregistrement de trames sonores pour plusieurs jeux vidéo et des projets spéciaux
dont une collaboration avec Guy Trépanier pour l’album « Adibou chante le temps des Fêtes » (1998),
vendu à plus de 100 000 exemplaires au Québec, petit personnage populaire tiré d’un jeu vidéo pour
tout-petits.
À propos de Stacy Jones :
Stacy Jones, musicien versatile, a d’abord étudié en guitare classique et puis en chant avant de se
lancer en musique populaire dans les années 80. Il s’est d’abord fait connaître en travaillant en studio
aux claviers, à la guitare et à la voix en collaborant à l’enregistrement et à la production d’albums de
divers artistes canadiens. Son travail en studio lui permet de côtoyer plusieurs musiciens montant de
la scène montréalaise dont Yves Frulla, célèbre maintenant en tant que claviériste pour les tournées de
Céline Dion. En 1987, il lance son premier album « Eleven Days » dont la chanson thème a parcouru
les radios canadiennes et européennes. Son second album, « Eyes in Motion », suit l’année suivante.

Mille-Isles, October 28th 2009 – After almost 20 years off the Montreal musical scene, Stacy Jones is
now coming back with a new album entitle « Back to the Highway ». Mostly influence by the 80’s
sound and style that marked his earliest success in career, this new album has however been written
taking in consideration new sounds and touches base with what we can hear in the modern pop chart.
The 13 songs proposed on « Back to the Highway » offer a great deal of acoustic sounds such as grand
piano and acoustic guitars with a lot of brass and strings surrounded by good rhythms, reflecting again
a unique genre for Stacy Jones.
« Back to the Highway » proposes rhythm songs that are somewhat soft and have deep atmospheres.
The fact that a lot of strings have been used as bass in many of the songs, mixed with guitar rhythm,
piano and brass, bring a dimension that is very effective and catches the hears of the listener. The
hooks are very attractive and Stacy Jones’ voice blends perfectly with his style. You can definitely feel
the 80’s sound and style within the songs. The themes that are presented reflected a Society that is to
blame for several of its acts. Stacy Jones uses a lot of analogy in his writing and this is make his lyrics
so attractive and unique. The style is a mix of folk and rock of the 70-80’s and reaches the pop style of
the 80’s. Again, his transposition with the modern sound of the pop chart make this album unique in
his genre and accessible for anyone looking for something different then what we usually hear in

During his absence from the music scene, Stacy Jones decided to launch a new career in advertising
and collaborates in several commercial jingles and writing for television. Further down the line, he
collaborates in several soundtracks for video games and for special projects, such as one with Guy
Trépanier for his album « Adibou chante le temps des Fêtes » (1998), sold in more then
100 000 copies in Quebec only, a popular young character inspired from a video game for small
children.
About Stacy Jones :
Stacy Jones, versatile musician by trade, first began his career by studying classical guitar and then
singing before transitioning into pop music in the 80s. He first rose on the scene by collaborating with
Top Canadian Artists such as the Karen Young / Michel Donato Duo, the Orealis Group, and Theresa
Doyle, by assisting them on keyboards and guitar in the recording studio. His work in the studio led to
several collaborations with up-and-coming musicians, such as Yves Frulla, now a famous keyboardist,
best known for his work on the Celine Dion World Tours. In 1987, Stacy Jones launched his first
album entitled ‘’Eleven Days’’, where its title track dominated both the Canadian and European air
waves. His follow-up album « Eyes in Motion », the following year, was also a great success. Up
until the late 80’s, Stacy Jones continues appearing in several shows, concerts and special charitable
events such as Téléthon des Étoiles and Enfants Soleil.
