3-Day Program
After School Hockey Program in St. Lazare
Grade 5-6 and Grade 7-8
Westwood Junior High School and Auclair Elementary School
Westwood Junior High School and Auclair Elementary will join together with Hockey
Specific Training to provide their students with an after school hockey program run by Hockey
Specific Training. The program will be held at the new arena in St. Lazare starting this coming
September 2006 through May 2007. Hockey Specific Training is in the process of getting some
additional Elementary Schools to participate in the program.
The idea behind the program is to motivate the students in school by using the hockey program as
an incentive. Hockey Specific Training has proven this approach with its student athlete program
at Holy Cross Elementary School in Ville St. Laurent. The students in that program have shown
tremendous progress in the areas of academics, sports, and behavior. Although this program will
be an after school program the student athlete will be required to maintain good grades and good
behavior in order to continue to participate in the program. Hockey Specific Training will
communicate with the teachers to monitor the student athletes’ grades and behavior. Players in
our program will be provided with a homework room to do school work under the supervision of
our homework room monitors.
The training will consist of one hour of on ice training and one hour of off ice training each day.
All training will be done at the arena. We are in the process of getting an off ice training room for
the program in the arena. The on ice training will focus on fundamental skill training (skate, pass,
shoot, stick handle) along with individual and team tactics. The off ice training will focus on
stretching, core, balance, stability, strength, and posture. The off ice trainers will also incorporate
a nutrition and lifestyle program for the students. Our staff of professional instructors will provide
the training for the students.
The program will operate Tuesday through Thursday each day from 15:00-18:00. Hockey
Specific Training will provide transportation for students from three pick up areas to the arena.
All students will need to be picked up at the end of each day at the arena. There will be a locker
room made available at the arena for parents to drop off their child’s hockey equipment each
morning.
The program will allow student from outside schools to attend the hockey program. Other
schools in the area that children can attend, but are not associated with our academic
aspect are Forest Hill and Evergreen Elementary Schools. We will monitor the academic
progress of these students with the cooperation of the parents.

École secondaire Westwood Junior et Hockey Specific Training
Westwood Junior ainsi que l’école Auclair se joindront à Hockey Specific Training
(HST) pour offrir à leurs étudiants un programme de hockey après les heures d’études.
Le dit programme sera géré par HST. Le programme aura lieu a la nouvelle aréna de
Saint-Lazare et débutera en septembre 2006 jusqu’en mai 2007. HST encouragera
d’autres écoles à se joindre à notre programme.
Ce programme est concu pour accroître la motivation des étudiants envers leurs études.
HST a déjà atteint ce but à travers leur programme d’athlètes à l’école primaire de Holy
Cross dans la Ville de Saint-Laurent. Les élèves à Holy Cross ont démontré un très grand
progrès dans leurs études, sports et comportement. Même si ce programme est après les
heures d’école, l’athlète/étudiant doit maintenir des bonnes notes ainsi qu’une conduite
exemplaire pour demeurer dans ce programme. HST demeure toujours en contact avec
les professeurs pour s’assurer du progrès des étudiants ainsi que de leur comportement.
S’il advenait un problème à ce niveau, l’étudiant devra faire ses devoirs (sous la
supervision de notre moniteur) au lieu d’être sur la glace.
L’entraînement consiste d’une heure sur glace et d’une heure hors glace. Tout
l’entraînement se déroulera à l’aréna. Nous essaierons d’obtenir une pièce à part pour
l’entraînement hors glace à l’aréna. L’entraînement sur glace sera concentre sur les
techniques de base (patinage, passe, lancer et maniement de rondelle) ainsi que les
tactiques collectives et individuelles. L’entraînement hors glace comportera des
exercices d’étirement, d’équilibre, de stabilité, de renforcement et de posture. Un
programme de nutrition et mode de vie sera également inclus dans le programme hors
glace. Nous vous assurons que le tout sera effectué par des instructeurs professionnels.
Le programme sera offert chaque jour du mardi au jeudi de 15 heures à 18 heures. HST
transportera les étudiants à partir de trois différents points de rencontre à l’aréna. Par
contre, les parents devront venir chercher leurs enfants à l’aréna à 18 heures. Veuillez
prendre note qu’il y aura un cassier à l’aréna pour entreposer l’équipement de hockey à
chaque matin.
Les élèves des écoles non participantes au programme avec HST pourront s’inscrire, tel
que Forest Hill et Evergreen. Par contre, le progrès académique pour ces étudiants sera
contrôlé avec la collaboration des parents.
