REPORT OF ASSESSMENT WORK PERFORMED (Diamond Drilling) Fletcher Lake Quartz Property Work Performed on Claims: SO 1091604 and SO 1091603 to be distributed. Prepared For: By: Mr. Floyd Jones, International Quartz MDX GeoServices a division of Oakridge Environmental Ltd. P.O. Box 431 Peterborough, Ontario K9J 6Z3 31E07SW2007 May 10, 2001 Project 00-538 2.20849 MCCLINTOCK 010 REPORT OF ASSESSMENT WORK PERFORMED 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 General This report presents a description of the work completed to date on a recently completed diamond drilling program conducted to test a quartz bearing pegmatite deposit in the Township of Mcclintock, District of Muskoka. The quartz mine property is situated approximately 12 km east of Dorset Ontario, immediately north of Fletcher Lake in the former township of Mcclintock, now part of the amalgamated townships of Mcclintock, Livingstone, Lawrence & Nightingale in the District of Muskoka, area east of the town of Dorset. The quarry site is situated roughly 70 m northeast and about 20 m above the west bay of Fletcher Lake between elevation 420 masl and 425 masl. (Figure 1). It is not clear when the first work was conducted at the site or when the quartz body was first discovered. The background data suggests that the workings pre date 1977 at which time two small quarries had been excavated. Ministry of Northern Development and Mines data indicate that approximately 8,000 tons of quartz material had been removed by previous operators before 1977. Subsequent to 1977, the quarry appears to have been utilized for production of decorative stone on an as-needed basis. The current owner and proponent has conducted assessment work on the claims since 1990, including mechanical stripping, drilling and blasting. i MDX GeoServices " P.O. Location And Access The subject property is situated about 12 km northeast of Dorset, within (part of) Lots 23, 24 (Se 25, Concession VII, Township of Mcclintock, Muskoka Region. The site can be accessed from County Road 12 which follows the south shore of Lower Fletcher Lake to a short access road leading to a small control dam at the southwest end of Fletcher Lake. From the dam road, the entrance trail/haul road to the quarry site is a left branch leading closely along the north shore of Fletcher Lake for approximately l km. The trail ends at an existing quarry site, originally opened by others more than 20 years ago. The quarry site is contained within a claim group consisting of 5 unpatented mining claims as illustrated by Figure 2. Since 1989, Mr. Jones had acquired claim numbers SO 1091603, 1091604, 1091605 carrying these three claims since May of 2000 where he made his most recent acquisition of claims SO 1244233, and SO 1244232. These claims are in good standing and considerable assessment work has been conducted (see abstracts in Appendix A). The surface rights of the claim group are owned by the Crown. A complete history of the work and transactions that have been associated with the property can be viewed in Appendix B (previous to 1996). " MDX GeoServices " P.O. In general, the claim group area has poor soil development and gneissic outcrops occur frequently between the thin podzolic soils. Average relief is less than 10 metres in the immediate vicinity of the quarry, however the topography is locally quite steep, with relief exceeding 60 m nearby. Fletcher Lake occurs approximately 15 m below the quarry (205.5 m asl). Overburden, largely glacial debris and outwash, is not particularly thick, and likely averages between 1-5 metres depth. Small wetlands commonly occupy areas between the many rocky ridges in the forested areas. 2.2 Bedrock Geology The quarry area generally contains four principal rock types visible at surface. These are: 1) Quartz (Pegmatite) 2) Potassic Feldspar (Pegmatite) 3) Sodic Feldspar (Pegmatite) 4) Biotite Gneiss (County Pvock) From the surface exposures, it is clear that the deposit consists of a "zoned" pegmatite body with a core of nearly pure quartz. Surrounding the quartz are essentially parallel inner zones of potassic feldspar megacrysts. Further out from the quartz is an external zone of sodic feldpar pegmatite in contact with the wall " MDX GeoServices * P.O. Between October 4 and October 9, 2000, a total of five drill holes were advanced from the quarry floor to test the continuity of the quartz zone. The holes were collared according to instructions provided by the owner (Mr. Floyd Jones). Three of the holes were drilled at - 45 0 while the remaining holes were drilled at or near vertical. Two of the inclined holes were drilled toward the quarry face while one hole was drilled subparallel to the face. The maximum vertical depth drilled was 103 ft (hole 2/00). The total footage drilled in the program was 397 ft. Cross Sections through the holes are presented in Appendix C. Following the drilling program, the drilling contractor delivered the core to the facilities of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines in Tweed, Ontario, on October 11, 2000. The core library provides archival storage and logging facilities for core samples generated at mineral exploration projects throughout southeastern Ontario (Appendix D). The attached Drill Plan (Figure 3) illustrates the locations of the diamond drill holes with respect to the claim lines and site features. The drilling was conducted within claims SO 1091604 and SO 1091603. The author visited the site following the drill program to observe water levels in the drill holes and to inspect the old workings. The diamond drill hole locations were surveyed by utilizing a mapping grade differential GPS, providing a field accuracy " MDX GeoServices " P.O. Box 431, Peterborough Ontario K9J 6Z3 internet: [email protected] (705) 745-1181 tel (705) 745-4163 fax Report of Assessment Work Performed Mr. Floyd Jones - International Quartz May 2001 Page 7 of < 2 m. Since the property is remote and distant from the correction beacon signal, differential gps measurements were difficult to obtain. Some locations will therefore have a poorer accuracy. Approximate drill hole collar elevations were obtained by interpolation of the OEM map sheet for the area. 3.2 Drilling Results Logging of the diamond drill core from the site was completed on December 14, 2000. The logging was conducted at the Core Library facilities of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines at Tweed. Ministry staff graciously provided access to their facilities. The drill logs are presented in Appendix E. The following describe the subsurface stratigraphy and mineralization of the deposit. The occurrence of the rock types is typical for a "zoned" pegmatite, consisting of a central quartz core surrounded by zones of coarse feldspar-dominated rock. The central quartz is of exceptional purity, containing only minute traces of other minerals. Locally, some hematite staining is present on fracture surfaces - probably related to weathering effects or groundwater percolation. Occasional megacrysts of potassic feldspar are present in the quartz, especially near the quartz zone contacts. Bordering the quartz is a zone that is rich in pink coloured, potassic feldspar, throughout which megacrysts are present. Away from the potassic feldspar zone, the pegmatite grades to a sodium rich feldspar dominated rock, again very coarsely crystalline. The sodic feldspar pegmatite also contains considerable sulphide minerals and mica - indicating a much more iron rich depositional fluid. Both of the feldspar rich zones are very heterogeneous in composition as a result of the coarsely crystalline rock fabric. The transition from the potassic to the sodic zone is gradual, occurring over a width of several meters, and is easily recognized by the increased presence of coarse biotite and the colour change from pink to grey-green. " MDX GeoServices " P.O. Box 431, Peterborough Ontario K9J 6Z3 internet: [email protected] (705) 745-1181 tel (705) 745-4163 fax Report of Assessment Work Performed Mr. Floyd Jones - International Quartz May 2001 Page 8 The host rock (also referred to as "country rock") consists of foliated biotite gneiss and probable mafic orthogneiss - both relatively uniform and consistent throughout the drill core in the immediate vicinity of the quarry. Of the pegmatite materials observed, the quartz and potentially the potassic feldspar dominated rock have the highest potential for use in the decorative stone and/or coatings industry. The sodic feldspar pegmatite unit contains a comparatively high percentage of deleterious minerals such as sulphides that would essentially preclude its use in either industry. As of 1977 two quarries had been excavated on the dike, the main one being 30 m by 7.6 m by 6 m high; about 8000 tons of quartz had been marketed. The quarry is presently active on demand for local decorative and commercial purposes." From the Assessment Files, MNDM, Tweed: 1990 Floy d E. Jones completed manual and mechanical stripping of the quartz vein. 1991 Boyd E. Jones completed manual and mechanical stripping of the quartz vein. 1992 Boyd E. Jones completed stripping, drilling and blasting on the property. 1993 Floyd E. Jones completed completed more drilling, blasting and sampling of the quartz vein. 1995 Mr. Jones continued to do physical work on the property. Ownership General Geology 1989 to present (01/17/96) Mr. Boyd E. Jones-claims SO1091603, 1091604,1091605). Mr. Jones also has an aggregate permit to remove quartz from the quarry.
