Signed Urbain Herquin à Paris on the dial and the movement.
Purple velvet covered dial, engraved ormolu chapter ring with full outer
minute marking. Finely foliate and engraved gilt hands, pierced and engraved
ornament below, bearing the signature.
Single train movement with five pillars, verge escapement and silk suspended
pendulum, with a very rare and interesting added strike mechanism, probably
specifically asked by the purchaser at the time, and mounted upside-down
with winder on the right-hand side with outer numbered countwheel
striking on a surmounted bell.
Ebony, tortoiseshell, and pewter veneered case surmouted by an arch.
Two original hooks also allow for hanging on the wall.
Four turned gilt feet.
