Altar Server Roles
TB = server responsible for the thurible & boat
▪ carries thurible/boat in entrance procession
▪ presents thurible/boat at veneration of altar
▪ carries thurible/boat in Gospel procession
▪ presents thurible/boat at offertory
▪ incenses the presider and assembly (in absence of deacon)
▪ incenses Blessed Sacrament during elevations
▪ carries thurible/boat in concluding procession
†M = server responsible for cross & missal
▪ carries cross in entrance procession
▪ holds missal for opening prayer
▪ places missal on altar after Prayer of the Faithful
▪ assists with setting of altar during offertory
▪ removes missal from altar during communion
▪ holds missal for prayer after communion
▪ carries cross in concluding procession
CI = server responsible for first candle & intercessions

▪ carries candle in Gospel procession
▪ receives book of intercession during the collection
