PEGAS and GRTgaz extend coupling
interventions to weekends
Paris, 20 September 2016 – The pan-European gas trading platform PEGAS and the
French natural gas transmission system operator GRTgaz announced the extension of
the operating hours of the coupling mechanism between France’s PEG Nord and TRS
delivery zones. From 24 September onwards, the coupling will be operational also on
weekends and bank holidays. This development follows the need of market participants
and the request of the French regulator Commission de Regulation de l’Energie (CRE).
In July 2011, GRTgaz and Powernext launched the first coupling initiative in the
European gas sector in July 2011 with the support of CRE. As part of this cooperation,
GRTgaz intervenes on PEGAS Spot by making available parts of its North/South
transmission capacity through the TRS / PEG Nord Day-Ahead and Week-End Spread
contracts.
Richard Katz, Powernext’s Sales Director, comments: “This market coupling model
which we developed for our customers together with CRE allows to trade continuously
both markets and does not restrict nomination rights on the weekends. It is therefore
well adapted to the specificities of the gas market. It is appropriate on border points that
are regularly congested, like the PEG Nord – TRS link is and shall remain until physical
investments are done.”

PEGAS und GRTgaz dehnen Marktkopplung
auf Wochenenden aus
Paris, 20. September 2016 – Die paneuropäische Gashandelsplattform PEGAS und
der
französische
Erdgasübertragungsnetzbetreiber
GRTgaz
erweitern
die
Betriebsstunden ihrer Marktkopplungsaktivitäten für die französischen Marktgebieten
PEG Nord und TRS. Ab dem 24. September wird die Kopplung auch an Wochenenden
und Feiertagen verfügbar sein. Diese Entwicklung folgt dem Bedarf der Marktteilnehmer
sowie den Wunsch des französischen Regulators, der Commission de Regulation de
l’Energie (CRE).
Im Juli 2011 haben GRTgaz und Powernext mit Unterstützung der CRE die erste
Marktkopplungsinitiative auf dem europäischen Gassektor gestartet. Im Rahmen dieser
Kooperation stellt GRTgaz Teile seiner Nord-Süd-Übertragungskapazität über den DayAhead Spread-Kontrakt zwischen den Marktgebieten TRS und PEG Nord am PEGAS
Spotmarkt zur Verfügung.

bis die physischen Investitionen erfolgt sind.“

PEGAS et GRTgaz étendent les interventions
de couplage aux weekends
Paris, le 20 Septembre 2016 – PEGAS, la plateforme paneuropéenne de négociation
de gaz, et GRTgaz, le gestionnaire du réseau de transport de gaz naturel en France,
annoncent l’extension de leur mécanisme de couplage entre les zones de marché
françaises PEG Nord et TRS. A partir du 24 septembre 2016, le couplage aura lieu
également les weekends et les jours fériés. Ce développement, demandé par la
Commission de Régulation de l’Energie (CRE), répond aux besoins des acteurs du
marché.
GRTgaz et Powernext, avec le soutien de la CRE, ont introduit le tout premier service
de couplage de marché dans le secteur du gaz en Europe en juillet 2011. Dans le cadre
de cette coopération, GRTgaz intervient sur PEGAS Spot en proposant une part de ses
capacités de transport à la liaison Nord-Sud via les produits spread TRS / PEG Nord
Day-Ahead et Week-End.

élaboré pour nos membres avec la CRE, permet le négoce en continu sur les deux
zones de marché et ne restreint pas les droits de nomination. Il est donc bien adapté

régulièrement congestionnés comme la liaison PEG Nord – TRS l’est actuellement et le
restera jusqu’à ce que des investissements physiques soient effectués. »
