Le bloc H est un bloc moteur que l'on retrouve sur certaines EG2 (à savoir Golf GTI 1600
millésime 81-82) et sur les Golf GTI Oettinger,
ce bloc se différencie des blocs EG classiques. Il a été fabriqué par Chrysler afin d'équiper les
modèles Horizon et Omni dans une cylindrée de 1700 cm3 (86.4x79.5).
Pour une raison qui m'est inconnue, ce bloc s'est retrouvé monté sur certains modèles VW
USA.
On peut lire sur certains sites que c'est VWMotorsport, qui préparait des moteurs pour Formule
3, qui s'est aperçu que le bloc H était plus résistant pour les préparations poussées, je pense
qu'il s'agit plutôt de la Formule Super Vee dont le moteur était un 1600cm3 tiré de la Golf, et
duquel les ingénieurs sortaient environ 190cv entre 7000 et 8000 tr/min
En effet, la structure de ce bloc est renforcée, il possède des parois plus épaisses, et un circuit
de refroidissement particulier.
