BACK TO THE SCENE FOR THE ASIA-PACIFIC KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP AT SUGO
On 23rd to 25th April 2015 Japan will host the the first Competition of the CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific
KF Championship at the Sugo circuit. After a year’s hiatus, this is the return of international
Competitions to the CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific region, known for it’s passion for motorsport and
especially Karting.
Under the leadership of the ASN, the Japanese Automobile Federation, and its Sport Department, the
2015 CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF Championship will start at Sportsland Sugo, a large multi-activities venue
dedicated to complex mechanical sports, which is located in the prefecture of Miyagi, in the north of the
country. The 984 m Karting track is well known and appreciated by the Japanese Drivers who regularly
compete there in national Championship Competitions.
The 2015 CIK-FIA Asia Pacific KF Championship is scheduled to conclude in the Autumn at the second
Competition in Macau. The last CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF Championship in 2013 was won by the Singapore
Driver Julien Fong Wei at Suzuka (JPN). The 2015 Competition will include 22 Drivers, all Japanese, on
10 chassis brands and three engine brands. In a situation specific to this Competition, the tyres will be
supplied by three different manufacturers who will be in direct competition: Dunlop, Bridgestone and
Yokohama.
The entry list is divided between Karting hopefuls and more experienced drivers with a significant age
gap, but one thing is certain: the standard will be high at Sugo and the races are likely to be hotly
contested.
Among the younger Drivers Kakunoshin Ota (Super Winforce-Parilla-B’stone) represented Japan at the
CIK-FIA 2014 Karting Academy Trophy with some success as he won the Final at Genk and finished
second overall. Conversely, Takeharu Nakamori (Kosmic-TM Racing-B’stone) is one of the most experienced in the field with his participation in the CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific Championship in 2004 in the ICA
category. Nakamori also raced at Suzuka during the CIK-FIA World KF1 Championships in 2011 and 2012
and finished 6th in the 2013 CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF Championship.
The best international result of the field was obtained by Shouta Kiyohara (CRG-TM Racing-Yokohama) in
2010 who reached the second step of the podium of the CIK-FIA World Cup for Super KF and KF1. Since
then he has moved to single-seaters, and is currently one of the very good Japanese F3 Drivers. These
good results also include Jinya Yamakawa (Tony Kart-TM Racing-Dunlop), 4th in the 2013 CIK-FIA Asia
Pacific KF Championship. Like him, other Japanese drivers have had the opportunity to compete in major
European competitions. Hiroaki Watatani (Wildkart-Vortex-B’stone), for example, participated in the four

RETOUR EN SCÈNE DU CHAMPIONNAT ASIE-PACIFIQUE DE KARTING À SUGO
Le Japon accueillera du 23 au 25 avril 2015 la première Compétition du Championnat Asie
Pacifique KF de la CIK-FIA sur le circuit de Sugo. Après une année d’interruption, il s’agit là
du retour des Compétitions internationales CIK-FIA dans la zone Asie-Pacifique, réputée pour
sa passion des sports mécaniques et plus particulièrement du Karting.
Sous l’impulsion de l’ASN, la Japanese Automobile Federation, et de son département Sport Auto, le
Championnat Asie Pacifique KF 2015 de la CIK-FIA va débuter sur le site de Sportsland Sugo, un vaste
complexe multi-activités dédié aux sports mécaniques qui se situe dans la préfecture de Myagi, au nord
est du pays. Sa piste de Karting longue de 984 m est connue et appréciée des Pilotes japonais qui y disputent régulièrement des Compétitions dans le cadre de leur Championnat national.
Le Championnat Asie Pacifique KF 2015 de la CIK-FIA est prévu pour se conclure à l’automne prochain
lors de la seconde Compétition du calendrier à Macao. Le dernier Championnat Asie Pacifique KF de la
CIK-FIA avant été remporté en 2013 par le Pilote de Singapour Julien Fong Wei sur le circuit de Suzuka
(JPN). L’édition 2015 rassemblera 22 Pilotes, tous japonais, 10 marques de châssis et 3 marques de
moteurs. Paramètre spécifique à cette Compétition, les pneumatiques seront fournis par trois manufacturiers différents qui vont se retrouver en concurrence directe : Dunlop, Bridgestone et Yokohama.
La liste des engagés se partage entre des espoirs du Karting et des Pilotes plus expérimentés présentant
un assez grand écart d’âge, mais une chose est certaine : le niveau sera vraiment relevé à Sugo et les
courses risquent d’être très disputées.
Parmi les plus jeunes, Kakunoshin Ota (Super Winforce-Parilla-B’stone) a représenté le Japon lors du Trophée Académie de Karting CIK-FIA 2014 avec un certain succès puisqu’il a remporté la Finale à Genk et
terminé second au classement général. A l’inverse, Takeharu Nakamori (Kosmic-TM Racing-B’stone) est
l’un des plus expérimentés du plateau avec sa participation au Championnat Asie Pacifique CIK-FIA en
2004 dans la catégorie ICA. Nakamori a également couru à Suzuka pendant les Championnats du Monde
CIK-FIA de KF1 en 2011 et 2012 et s’est classé 6e du Championnat Asie Pacifique KF de la CIK-FIA 2013.
Le meilleur résultat international du plateau a été obtenu par Shouta Kiyohara (CRG-TM Racing-Yokohama) qui est monté en 2010 sur la 2e marche du podium de la Coupe du Monde CIK-FIA Super KF et
KF1. Passé depuis en monoplace, il est actuellement l’un des très bons Pilotes japonais de F3. Les bons
résultats ne manquent pas non plus du côté de Jinya Yamakawa (Tony Kart-TM Racing-Dunlop), 4e du
Championnat CIK-FIA Asie Pacifique KF 2013. Comme lui, d’autres Pilotes japonais ont eu l’opportunité
