The Youth Counil would like to welcome two new members: Andrew Hall and Nicholas Hussey.
"I first became involved in the ACCESS Open Minds­NB project through my involvement with the Youth
Planning Committee for the 2016 Atlantic Summer Institute. We are tasked with planning the youth
portion of the conference that is aimed at engaging networking, ideas and innovation in the area of Child
and Youth Mental Health in all four Atlantic Provinces." ­­ Andrew Hall On June 5th 2016, the Youth Council met in
Elsipogtog's Safe Space for its first
quarterly face­to­face meeting of 2016­2017.
The Council spent the day discussing their work
plan and determining how they would like to be
engaged in the various activities that will be
occurring moving forward. Big thanks to Eva Sock and Nancy Milliea for
hosting the Youth Council in their community,
and to Elder Josie Augustine for sharing some of
her wisdom with our group. MEET THE TEAM

ACCESS Open Minds NB is excited to share with you our first three communities (safe spaces). The
selection committee was made up of: Kevin Leahy, Rhonda Stairs, Charlotte LeBlanc, Lee Thomas, and
Christian Whalen. A special thank you to Aboriginal Affairs, Michelina Mancuso, Candice Pollack and
Anita Rossingnol.
Throughout the summer our team will be working with theses communities as well as preparing for

Meet & Greet with Minister Philpott
Federal Minister of Health Jane Philpott visited Saint John on Tuesday June 21st.
During her time in the province, NBHRF held a SPOR Meet and Greet which
Philpott was able to attend. Each SPOR was given an opportunity to speak to their
respective projects and share with Philpott the great patient­oriented research
taking place in New Brunswick. ACCESS Open Minds Christian Whalen, Eva Sock and Brianna Matchett were there
to represent our team!

IAN MANION'S VISIT TO NB

New Brunswick welcomed Dr. Ian Manion to the province back at the end of May. The Graham Boeckh
Foundation (GBF) and Medavie Health Foundation) had hired Manion to do a consultation regarding
New Brunswick Youth Mental Health Services. Throughout his time he met with the ACCESS NB team,
ISD, Network of Excellence and members from the Government of New Brunswick.
This was a great opportunity for ACCESS NB and we are looking forward to Manion's report as well as
connecting with GBF and Medavie in the future. STAY CONNECTED

Le Conseil de la jeunesse souhaite la bienvenue à deux nouveaux membres :
Andrew Hall et Nicholas Hussey.
« Je me suis joint au projet d’ACCESS Esprits Ouverts – N.­B. en siégeant au comité des jeunesse à
l’Institut d’été du Canada atlantique de 2016. Notre mandat est de planifier le volet jeunesse de la
conférence, qui vise à stimuler le réseautage, les idées et l’innovation en matière de santé mentale chez
les enfants et la jeunesse dans les quatre provinces de l’Atlantique », explique Andrew Hall.
Le 5 juin 2016, le Conseil de la jeunesse a tenu
sa première rencontre trimestrielle en personne
2016­2017 dans le lieu sûr d’Elsipogtog. Les
membres du Conseil ont passé la journée à
discuter du plan de travail et à déterminer
comment ils aimeraient participer aux diverses
activités qui auront lieu.
Nous tenons à remercier Eva Sock et Nancy
Milliea pour avoir accueilli le Conseil dans leur
communauté, et l’aînée Josie Augustine d’avoir
partagé sagesse avec le groupe.

COCKTAIL DE BIENVENUE AVEC LE
MINISTRE PHILPOTT
La ministre de la Santé du Canada Jane Philpott s’est rendue à Saint­Jean au Nouveau­
Brunswick le mardi 21 juin.La FRSNB a organisé un cocktail de bienvenue SRAP auquel l’hon.
Philpott a pu participer lors de cette visite provinciale. Chaque SRAP a eu l’occasion de parler de
leurs projets respectifs et de partager avec la ministre la grande recherche en cours au Nouveau­
Brunswick.

DOCTEUR IAN MANION VISITE LE N.­B.
Vers la fin du mois de mai, le Nouveau­Brunswick a souhaité la bienvenue au Dr Ian Manion. La
Fondation Graham Boeckh (FGB) et la Fondation pour la santé Medavie avaient embauché M. Manion
comme consultant concernant les services de santé mentale des jeunes au Nouveau­Brunswick.
Pendant son mandat, il a rencontré l’équipe d’ACCESS N.­B., de PSI et du réseau d’excellence ainsi
que des membres du gouvernement du Nouveau­Brunswick.
Ceci fut une formidable occasion pour ACCESS N.­B. et nous anticipons avec plaisir le rapport de
M. Manion et nos relations à venir avec la FGB et Medavie.
