Dear Members, Donors and Readers,
In today's competitive world, education is a basic necessity just like food,
clothing, and shelter. We are incomplete without a good education
because education makes us a right thinker and correct decision maker,
thus helping us find a suitable solution to any problem we may face. Social
issues like inequality, gender discrimination, and religious differences
exist today, which leads to disharmony in the society. The only solution to
these social problems is widespread education penetrating all strata of
the society. I say that Education is the only solution because it not only promotes good habits,
values and a liberal mind-set but also eliminates communication barriers, which is a key in this
highly technological world.
Having understood the importance of education, AVOPA, as you know, pursues several initiatives
such as the Merit Prizes, Scholarships and Book Bank to ensure that education reaches many
more people in our society. It is also the earnest effort of AVOPA to support students to further
their education. In this regard, AVOPA has setup a free hostel accommodation for boys in
Chamarajpet, Bangalore particularly for the needy and the well-deserved students pursuing preuniversity and diploma studies. This hostel support has been well appreciated by many
members of our community and hence it is our endeavor to support many more students with
the hostel facilities. The current hostel can accommodate only 13 students, however, it is our
desire to support 30-40 students with hostel accommodation. Hence, I appeal to the members of
our community having a larger building space to come forward and support AVOPA in this
endeavor. I request the interested members to come forward and discuss the terms with AVOPA.
As you all know, providing good hostel facilities requires generous funding to meet the expenses.
Hence, I request all the philanthropists of our community to donate generously. The members
can make a one-time donation of Rs.3,00,000/- to the Endowment fund to sponsor the education
of one student every year in the name of the Donor. Alternatively, the members can contribute
Rs.30,000/- for sponsoring education of one student for one year in the name of the donor.
It has been a long standing dream of our community to have a “hospital” of our own to serve the
members of our community as well as the society at large. I am very pleased to inform that this
dream is now a reality with the inauguration of the Vasavi Hospital, a prestigious super
speciality hospital of our community. The hospital is endowed with a sprawling campus having
hi-tech facilities incorporating the state of art equipment in the field of medicine. I request the
members to avail the benefits of the hospital as well as disseminate the information about the
Vasavi Hospital to all their friends, colleagues and contacts.
This month AVOPA conducted a Diabetic workshop in association with Vasavi Hospital. The
workshop aimed at spreading awareness on Diabetes was a huge success. There was an
energetic and enthusiastic participation from our members in large numbers. The programme
was very educative providing information on early detection of Diabetes and the necessary
preventive actions to avoid the ill effects of Diabetes.
