montreuil list
JUILLET A OCTOBRE 2007

The Montreuil Showroom
The advantage of buying wines at The Wine Society’s showroom in Montreuil is that
members can choose from a trusted selection of wines and benefit from the lower
rates of excise duty that apply in France. This price list features the 200 wines stocked
at Montreuil; 425 other wines are also available but need to be ordered in advance, see
below for details.
Showroom opening times: Monday to Saturday: 8.30am-6.00pm (no lunchtime
closure). The Showroom is also closed on French public holidays: Saturday, 14th July
and Wednesday, 15th August.
How to order:
Just turn up: Members can visit the showroom without prior notice and select wines
on the spot. Please have your share number to hand. The showroom aims to maintain
good stocks of all 200 wines featured in this price list. However, for a specific order, or
for 24 or more bottles of any one wine, please order in advance (see below) to avoid
disappointment.
Order in advance, from the selection in this leaflet: To ensure orders are ready on
arrival, please call Member Services on 01438 740222 at least 18 days prior to your
Montreuil visit.
Order in advance, wines not featured in this leaflet: Some members like to collect
other wines from The Society’s main List. These are available on a pre-order basis, in
un-mixed cases only. For the Montreuil prices of the 425 wines other than those
featured here, please visit www.thewinesociety.com or call Member Services on
01438 740222.
Payment: Payment for both on the spot and pre-orders is taken in euros in Montreuil
at the time of collection. The showroom accepts payment by cash (for purchases up to
the value of €100), Maestro, Visa, MasterCard or euro travellers’ cheques. Please note
that credit card companies may require extra proof of identity to avoid fraud.
Pricing: The average saving on still wines at Montreuil is equivalent to £18.82 per dozen
on the normal UK Wine Society List price (based on exchange rates when this price list
was printed). Prices are valid up to and including Saturday, 27th October 2007.
Parking: There is dedicated parking in front of The Society’s showroom through the
blue electronic gate on Rue du Tripot (at the back of the Hotel Hermitage). Please ring
the bell if the gate is closed.
For key to wine style codes for red and white wines, see page 143 of the July − October main List. For a
tasting note please see the current main List (the page number is indicated next to each wine) or visit
www.thewinesociety.com.
Save 10% on member favourites
Below is a tried and trusted selection of wines chosen by the thousands of members
who visit Montreuil each year. All the wines have discounts of at least 10% over
and above the savings already achieved thanks to France’s lower rates of duty. See
the spirits section for savings of at least 15% on Society whiskies and gin.

Montreuil, The Town
Overlooking the valley of the River Canche and beyond, the beautiful walled
town of Montreuil-sur-Mer inspired Victor Hugo to situate the first part of his
celebrated novel "Les Misérables" here. With its 3km of battlements, its
cobbled streets, historic buildings and, above all, easy access from the Channel
ports, Montreuil is an excellent destination in its own right.
