EN SIMPLE TABLETTE ANDROID POUR UTILISATION AVEC ODK COLLECT
1) Préparatifs et Prérequis

1a. Vous aurez besoin de deux cartes micro-SD, dont l'une doit être d'au moins 4 Go. En outre, vous
aurez besoin d'un lecteur de carte micro-SD pour votre ordinateur (type USB), ou d’un ordinateur
équipé d'un emplacement pour une carte SD ou d’un adaptateur micro-SD à SD standard.
1b. Assurez-vous que votre Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight (dorénavant appelé NSTG) dispose de
la dernière mise à jour logicielle de l'usine (version 1.2.1). Vérifiez la version içi : Device Info > about your
nook > Software version. Si la version n’est pas 1.2.1 ou supérieur, visitez le site Web du fabricant et
suivez les consignes pour mettre à jour l'appareil.
2) Créer une carte micro-SD avec l’« image » du logiciel pour modifier le NSTG
2a. Utilisez une carte micro-SD de marque (les marques génériques peuvent donner des problèmes)
d'au moins 4 Go et la formater.
2b. Téléchargez une application pour votre PC/Mac pour créer une image disque. On
recommande HDD Raw Copy qui est un outil simple à utiliser :

2c. Téléchargez et décompressez le fichier que vous trouverez içi :

une fois décompressé).
2d. Assurez-vous que votre micro-SD est insérée dans le lecteur de carte USB et est reconnue par le
système d'exploitation de votre ordinateur.
2e. Exécutez l'application qui va créer l’« image » sur votre carte micro-SD et sélectionnez le fichier
.img que vous venez de télécharger et décompresser comme fichier « source ».
2e. Sélectionnez la carte micro-SD comme « destination ». Soyez prudent avec ce choix car vous ne
voulez pas écrire l’image sur le disque dur de votre ordinateur.
2f. Lancez l'opération d'écriture et soyez patient. A la fin de l’écriture, assurez-vous qu’aucune erreur
ne s’est produite (méssage d’erreur affiché) pendant l'opération d'écriture.
2g. Vous avez maintenant une carte micro-SD contenant un fichier « image » pour convertir le NSTG
en tablette Android.
3. Mettre à jour le NST avec la nouvelle image
3a. Éteignez le NSTG et insérez la carte micro-SD préparée dans le
NSTG.
3b. Allumez le NSTG. Elle doit afficher le «Nook Manager». Après le
chargement complet (moins d'une minute), choisissez " No, continue
without wireless".
3c. Les options suivantes vous seront proposées : Rescue, Root, Exit, More. Choisissez " Rescue".
3d. Les quatre options suivantes vont apparaitre : Backup, Restore backup, back, Restore factory .zip.
Choisissez " Restore backup".
3e. Les options suivantes vous seront proposées : Back et Restore backup. Choisissez Restore backup.
Soyez patient, cela peut prendre jusqu’à 20 minutes. Lorsque le fichier est installé sélectionnez Exit et
suivez les instructions à l'écran.
3f. Une fois la micro-SD retirée, le NSTG redémarre. Inserez la seconde carte micro-SD (vide) dans le
NSTG. L’application ODK Collect ne peut pas fonctionner sans qu’une carte micro-SD ne soit insérée.
3g. Vous pouvez maintenant lancer l’application ODK Collect et l'utilisez normalement.
3e. Gardez votre carte micro-SD avec son “image” afin de reconvertir éventuellement votre tablette
en liseuse : Continue without wireless > Rescue > restore factory.zip.

assumez l'entière responsabilité pour tout dommage pouvant résulter de son fonctionnement ou
dysfonctionnement. Ce logiciel est connu pour avoir certaines limites avec la version d'ODK Collect
incluse. Certains bugs sont connus, et de nouveaux peuvent être découverts (par exemple : Le widget

THE NOOK SIMPLE TOUCH WITH GLOWLIGHT E-BOOK READER
INTO A SIMPLE ANDROID TABLET FOR USE WITH ODK COLLECT
1) Preparation and requirements

1a. You will need two micro-SD cards, one of which must be at least 4GB. Also, you will need a USB
micro-SD card reader for your computer or a computer that has a slot for an SD-Card and you have a
micro-SD to SD adapter.
1b. Make sure your nook simple touch with Glowlight (here on out referred to as NSTG) has the
latest factory software update (version 1.2.1). Check this by going to Device Info > about your nook >
Software version. If not version 1.2.1 or higher, go to the manufacturer's web site and follow the
instructions to update the device.
2) Create a micro-SD card that contains the software image to modify the NSTG
2a. Use a name brand micro-SD card (generic brands can give problems) of at least 4GB and format it
to erase all data on it.
2b. Download an application for your PC which can create a disk image. We recommend HDD
Raw copy as it is a straight forward application for Windows.

2c. Download and unzip the image file (it will have the extension .img once unzipped) found here.

2d. Make sure your micro-SD is inserted into the USB card reader and is recognized by your
computer’s operating system.
2e. Run the imaging application (HDD raw copy or other) and select the .img image file that you just
unzipped as the “source” file.
2e. Select the micro-SD card as the “destination”. Be careful with this choice as you don't want to
write over your computer's hard drive.
2f. Start the writing operation and be patient (it may take up to 20 minutes) until it is finished. Make
sure that there were no errors reported during the write operation.
2g. You now have a micro-SD card with an image file that will be used to convert the NSTG into an
Android tablet.
3. Update the NSTG with the new image
3a. Shut off the NSTG and insert the prepared micro-SD card into the
NSTG.
3b. Turn on the NSTG. It should show "Nook Manager" and after
loading the manager (less than one minute), ask to start with
wireless or without wireless. Choose "No, continue without wireless".
3c. You should see the four options Rescue, Root, Exit, More. Choose "Rescue".
3d. You should see the four options Backup, Restore backup, back, Restore factory .zip. Choose "Restore
backup".
3e. You should see the two options Back and Restore backup. Choose “Restore backup”. Be patient, it
could take up to 20 minutes. When finished, select Exit and follow the screen instructions.
3f. Once the prepared micro-SD is removed, the device will restart. Place another (different) blank
and formatted micro-SD card into the NSTG. The ODK Collect application will not work without a
micro-SD card inserted into the Nook.
3g. You can now launch ODK collect and use as normal.
3e. Save your “image” micro-SD card in case you ever want to revert your tablet back to an e-reader:
Continue without wireless > Rescue > restore factory.zip.
