NIKKA: Established in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru,
the first Japanese to ever study the art of whisky
production. Taketsuru started at Japan’s first
distillery which became Suntory. He founded Nikka’s
first distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaido, due to its
comparable conditions to the Scottish town where he
had studied.
3) TAKETSURU 21 year: Blended from the Yoichi and
Miyagikyo distilleries. Nice weight and beautifully
interwoven maple, fruit & smoke. Won the World’s
Best Blended Malt Whisky at the 2010 World
Whiskies Awards (Third time in four years), as well as
the Best Non­Scotch Blended Malt 21 years and
over in 2012.
