Impressions de France.
Le mois de mai m’a permis de visiter plusieurs de nos merveilleuses régions,
l’Île de France, la Loire, la Vendée, la Bretagne, la Normandie, la Provence.
Quel plaisir de deviner la tour Eiffel dans les brumes du matin, d’aller se
promener sur les traces de François I à Chambord ou dans les jardins de
Chenonceau, de déjeuner en compagnie d’huîtres de Bellon, d’araignées de
mer, de bullots et autres crustacés sur la côte sauvage bretonne en face
l’océan, d’admirer le couché du soleil du Mont-St-Michel, ou de se
ressourcer au pays des cigales! Notre pays nous offre mille richesses que
l’on apprécie sans doute davantage étant loin. Or, malgré ce décor
enchanteur, les nouvelles venues de France semblent refléter le NON
catégorique des français vis à vis de la Constitution européenne.
Mécontentement général, crainte de la machine économique européenne,
désir d’exprimer haut et fort leur insatifaction, les français vivent mal mais
plutôt confortablement dans le plus beau pays du monde, selon moi. Est-ce
que la refonte drastique du gouvernement Chirac pourra répondre à leurs
attentes et corriger leur pessimisme? Espérons-le, mais quoi qu’il en soit, ne
perdez pas une opportunité d’aller faire un tour dans notre magnifique pays,
cela en vaut vraiment le détour!

The month of May allowed me to visit several of our wonderful regions,
l’île de France, Loire Valley, la Vendée, Brittany, Normandy, la Provence.
What a pleasure to guess where the Eiffel was in the morning mists, to walk
on the footsteps of François 1st at Chambord or in the gardens of
Chenonceau, to eat lunch with Bellon oysters, sea crabs, and other
crustaceans on the wild Brittan coast facing the ocean, to admire the sunset
at Mont-St.Michel, or to return to our roots in the country of cicadas! Our
country offers us a thousand riches that we appreciate without a doubt more
from afar. Well, despite this enchanting décor, the news coming from
France seems to reflect the categorical “No” of the French concerning the
European Constitution. General discontentment, fear of the European
economic machine, desire to express loudly and clearly their insatisfaction,
the French are living badly but rather comfortably in the most beautiful
country in the world according to me. Can the drastic restructuring of
Chirac’s government answer their expectations and correct their pessimism?
Let’s hope so, but regardless of what happens, don’t miss the opportunity to

tour our magnificent country. It’s really worth the trip!

European Constitution
A ce jour, 11 Etats membres (en incluant la
Belgique où les instances fédérales se sont déjà
prononcées), représentant 51.42 % de la
population européenne ont ratifié la Constitution.
Les Français et Néérlandais représentent environ
77 millions de personnes, soit environ 16% de la
population de l'UE.
Presently, 11 member states (including Belgium
where the federal authorities have already
spoken), representing 51.42 % of the European
population have ratified the Constitution. The
French and the Dutch representing approximately
77 million people are approximately 16 % of the
Population of the EU.

France says no to the European
Constitution Project!
Le 29 mai 2005, les Français ont rejeté à 54,67%
le projet de Constitution européenne qui leur était
soumis par la voie du référendum. Historique, ce
vote l’est au regard de la très forte mobilisation
des électeurs (69.37%), mais aussi au regard de
son résultat : c’est la 1ère fois que la France se
prononce négativement sur un traité européen ;
elle devient également le 1er Etat européen à
refuser de ratifier le projet de Constitution
européenne.
May 29, 2005, 54.76% of French voters rejected
the European Constitution project which was
submitted to them by means of a referendum.
Historically, this vote is important because it
represents a strong voter turnout (69.37%), but
also because of its result: it is the first time that
France has reacted negatively to a European
Treaty. France also became the first European
state to refuse to ratify the European Constitution.

L’exercice démocratique du 29 mai confirme
amplement que le référendum demeure un
instrument
propice
au
détournement,
particulièrement par temps de morosité
économique et d’impopularité gouvernementale.
La victoire du «non» peut être comprise comme
celle d’un «vote sanction» national dont l’Union
européenne supportera le coût. Selon l’enquête
Ipsos, la première motivation invoquée par ceux
qui ont voté «non» a été l’expression d’un
mécontentement à l’égard de «la situation
économique et sociale actuelle en France» (52
%). Pour la Sofres, 40% des électeurs ayant
choisi le «non» ont répondu «vouloir exprimer
mon ras-le-bol vis-à-vis de la situation politique
actuelle….

This democratic exercise of May 29th strongly
confirms that the referendum continues to be an
effective political instrument, particularly during
times of economic distress and governmental
unpopularity.
The victory of “no” can be
understood as a nationally sanctioned vote which
the European Union will suffer the consequences.
According to the Ipsos investigation, the first
motivation invoked by those who voted “no” was
the expression of discontentment in regards to the
“current economic and social situation in France”

Mother-in-law and her son-in-laws
Une belle-mère décide de savoir si ses trois
gendres l'aiment ou au moins l'apprécient...
A Mother-in-law wants to know if her three
son-in-laws love her or at least appreciate
her…
Le lendemain en se promenant au bord du fleuve
avec son premier gendre, elle glisse dans l'eau et
commence à se noyer, le gendre sans hésitation
plonge et sauve sa belle-mère.
The next day walking on the riverside with her
first son-in-law, she falls into the water and
starts to drown, the son-in-law without
hesitation dives in and saves her.
Le lendemain, devant la maison, il trouve une
voiture neuve, une petite Peugeot 206 avec un mot
sur le pare brise :

Elle entreprend le même scénario avec le
deuxième gendre, celui ci plonge et sauve sa bellemère. Lui aussi reçoit une voiture, une petite
Peugeot 206 avec un mot sur le pare brise :

Same scenario with the third son-in-law, she
falls into the water and starts to drown and he

Dindon Burger Méditerranéen
Mediterranean Turkey Burger
Ingrédients :
Ingredients:
1 1/3 lb (600 g) dindon haché
1 1/2 oz (45 g) oignon blanc, haché très finement
1/4 tasse (65 ml) persil, haché très finement
2 c.à thé (10 ml) paprika
1 c.à thé (5 ml) coriandre, moulue
1/2 c.à soupe (7 ml) sel
1 c.à thé (5 ml) poivre du moulin
1/8 lb (60 g) fromage de chèvre, affiné, de type
bûchette, coupé en 4 tranches
1 gousse ail, écrasée
2 c.à thé (10 ml) gros sel
2 c.à thé (10 ml) romarin, séché
1/4 tasse (65 ml) huile d'olive
8 tranches pain, miche intégrale sésame
NATURO-BIO de marque St-Méthode
1 1/3 Pd (600 g) chopped turkey
1 ½ oz. (45 g) white onion, chopped very finely
¼ cup (65 ml) parsley, chopped very finely
2 teaspoons (10 ml) paprika
1 teaspoon (5 ml) coriander, ground
½ tablespoon (7ml) salt
1 teaspoon (5 ml) mill pepper
1/8 Pd (60 g) refined goat cheese, stick type, cut
in 4 slices
1 garlic pod, crushed
2 teaspoons (10 ml) salt
2 teaspoons (10 ml) rosemary, dried
¼ cup (65 ml) olive oil
8 slices of bread, sesame loaf

Les Étapes :
Steps:
1. Mélanger les 7 premiers ingrédients et
façonner 4 boulettes
2. Cuire dans un poêlon chaud pendant 4 à 5
minutes de chaque côté ou jusqu'à ce
qu'un thermomètre à viande indique une
température interne de 80 °C (175 °F).
3. Préparer le pain grillé en écrasant au
mortier l'ail, le gros sel et le romarin.
Ajouter à ce mélange l'huile en filet.
4. Badigeonner chaque tranche de pain de
cette préparation et griller à feu vif
pendant 1 à 2 minutes.
5. Déposer une boulette sur chaque tranche
de pain, recouvrir de fromage de chèvre et
garnir de légumes grillés.
1. Mix the first 7 ingredients and make 4
balls.
2. Cook in a hot pan for 4 to 5 minutes on
each side or until the meat thermometer
indicates an internal temperature of 80C
(175 F).
3. Prepare the grilled bread by smashing the
garlic by mortarboard, salt and rosemary.
Add to the mixture, filet oil.
4. Whitewash each slice of bread by this
preparation and grill on a hot stove for 1 to
2 minutes.
5. Drop a ball on each slice of bread, cover
with goat cheese and garnish with grilled
vegetables.

Next Meeting:
La prochaine réunion aura lieu le 18 à Concord
Park à partir de 12H pour un pique nique. On va
se réunir à l’endroit qui s’appelle «The Cove», là
où il y a un gazebo. On va bien s’amuser et il y
aura des jeux pour les enfants. Amener vos
maillots, votre short et votre bob pour jouer au
volley ou à la pétanque.
The next meeting or pick-nick will take place
on the 18th at Concord Park. We are going to
meet at the spot called “The Cove” where there
is a gazebo. We are going to have fun and
there will be games for the children. Bring
your bathing suits and your shorts in order to
play volleyball or a game of bowls.
21ème Fête du Cinéma en France
21st Cinema Festival in France
La Fête du Cinéma 2005 se tiendra pour la
21ème année consécutive les dimanche 26, lundi
27 et mardi 28 juin partout en France.
Le principe de la Fête du Cinéma est relativement
simple : pour l'achat d'une place au tarif plein, un
carnet-passeport est remis à chaque spectateur et
lui donne droit à toutes les séances suivantes,
pour tous les films à l'affiche, au tarif unique de
deux euros par film.
Cette offre est valable partout en France, dans
tous les cinémas participant à l'opération, du
dimanche 26 juin au mardi 28 juin inclus.
Au programme cette année "Madagascar",
produit par les Studios DreamWorks, "Les
Poupées Russes" de Cédric Klapisch, "Batman
Begins" de Christopher Nolan, "L'Interprète" de

The Cinema Festival 2005 will be held for the
21st consecutive year on Sunday 26th, Monday
the 27th, and Tuesday the 28th of June
everywhere in France.
The principle of the Cinema Festival is
relatively simple: with the purchase of one
ticket at full price, a pass is given to each
viewer and it gives him the right to watch all
of the other showings or all of the films posted
at the nominal fee of two euros per film.
This offer is valid everywhere in France, in all
of the theaters who are participating in this
operation, from Sunday June 26th until
Tuesday June 28th.
