cancel, please give at least 24 hours notice.
Dietary and Medication Instructions:
Please bring all your medications with you (bottles and/or list). All medications will be restarted immediately after your
test.
FOR 3 DAYS

FOR 24 HOURS

쐍 DO NOT take Viagra (Sildenafil) or Cialis or Levitra.
쐍 DO NOT take Aggrenox or Persantine or Agreline.
쐍 DO NOT take any medications that contain caffeine such as:

If you are an insulin-dependent diabetic, please notify the lab to ensure that your
appointment is scheduled appropriately.

쐍 Continue to use nitroglycerin tablets or spray under the tongue for relief of chest pain if
necessary.
Description of Procedure:
A perfusion heart test involves two injections of a small amount of radioactive material which looks at blood flow to
the heart. An intravenous (IV) line will be placed in a vein of your arm. You will receive one injection at rest and another
injection during a stress test—either exercise stress on a treadmill or drug induced stress with Persantine medication.
Two sets of pictures—one at rest and one after stress — will be taken of your heart using a special camera. You will
be asked to lie on your back while the camera takes a series of pictures. When both your rest and stress pictures are
complete, a physician will interpret the images and a written report will be sent to your referring physician. As part of
our Quality Assurance Program you may be contacted in the future as a follow up to your test.

Si vous souffrez de diabète de type 1 (insulino-dépendant), veuillez en aviser le laboratoire pour
assurer que votre rendez-vous soit adéquat.

쐍 Continuez à utiliser vos comprimés de nitroglycérine ou à vaporiser sous la langue pour soulager la
douleur thoracique au besoin.
Description de l’examen nucléaire :
Un examen de perfusion cardiaque nécessite deux injections d’une petite quantité de substance radioactive qui évalue
la circulation cardiaque. Un cathéther intraveineux sera inséré dans votre bras. On vous administrera une injection
avant et une autre injection durant votre épreuve d’effort (tapis roulant ou épreuve d’effort sous médications). Deux
séries d’images, une avant et une autre après votre épreuve d’effort, seront prises à l’aide d’une caméra spéciale. On
vous demandera de vous coucher sur le dos pendant que la caméra prendra une série d’images. Lorsque les deux
séries d’images seront terminées, un médecin interprétera les images et enverra un rapport écrit au médecin vous
ayant prescrit l’examen. Dans le cadre de notre programme d’assurance de la qualité, nous pourrions communiquer
avec vous ultérieurement pour assurer un suivi de votre examen de cardiologie nucléaire.
