Le ‘Peking to Paris Motor Challenge 2016’ passe par le Valais
La sixième édition du Peking to Paris Motor Challenge s’élancera de Pékin le 12 juin 2016 pour s’achever à Paris le 17 juillet au
terme d’un périple de 13695 kilomètres. Avant l’arrivée dans la capitale française, les participants traverseront la Suisse d’est en
ouest. Le 15 juillet au matin, ils partiront de Saint Moritz pour entrer en Valais via le Col de la Furka et se diriger vers Lausanne,
antépénultième étape de cette grande aventure.
Comme ce fut le cas en 2013, l’Endurance Rally Association (ERA),
instigateur de l’événement, a approché l’organisation du Rallye
International du Valais pour assurer le bon déroulement de l’épreuve sur
le territoire du canton.
Les trois contrôles de passage prévus dans la région constituent une
excellente opportunité d’admirer de près les voitures et leurs équipages:
• Col de la Furka: 12h00 / 14h00
• Leuk: 14h30 / 16h30
• La Croix-de-Cœur: 15h30 / 17h30

Avec 109 voitures réparties dans les catégories “Vintage” (1920-1931), “Vintageant”
(1932-1941) et “Classic” (1942-1977), la liste des engagés présente une grande variété
de modèles allant d’une American La France de 1915 à une Mercedes 280E de 1977.
La première citée est la plus ancienne et dispose du moteur le plus impressionnant, avec
une cylindrée de 14500 cm3. A l’opposé, le plus petit propulseur du plateau est celui d’une Austin Mini de 1972 (1275 cm3).
Plusieurs équipages suisses figurent parmi les participants.

The 2016 Peking to Paris Motor Challenge visits Valais
The sixth running of the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge will kick off in Beijing on Sunday 12 June 2016 and will draw to a close in
Paris on Sunday 17 July after a 13695-kilometre journey. Before the finish in the French capital, the participants will cross
Switzerland from east to west. On Friday 15 July in the morning, they will leave from St Moritz to enter the canton of Valais via the
Col de la Furka before heading towards Lausanne for the antepenultimate leg of this great adventure.
As was the case in 2013, the Endurance Rally Association (ERA) - the
instigator of the event - has approached the organisation of the Rallye
International du Valais to ensure a smooth running of the event on the
canton’s territory.
The three passage controls scheduled in the region provide an excellent
opportunity to get a close look at the cars and their crews:
• Col de la Furka: 12:00 noon - 14:00
• Leuk: 14:30 - 16:30
• La Croix-de-Cœur: 15:30 - 17:30

With 109 cars split up into the “Vintage” (1920-1931), “Vintageant” (1932-1941) and
“Classic” (1942-1977) categories, the entry list features a wide range of models from a
1915 American La France to a 1977 Mercedes 280E. The first quoted vehicle is the
oldest and also has the most impressive engine with a capacity of 14500cc. In contrast,
the smallest powerhouse of the field is that of a 1972 Austin Mini (1275 cc). Several Swiss crews will take part in the event.
