I am a medical doctor, professor of radiology, who have a passion for sports since teenage years. My sports career
started with volleyball and fencing when I was in high school. After high school, I pursued my volleyball career as
a professional player in my college years. I instilled my passion for sports to my both children. One of them
become a sailor and the other became a fencer, and both of them got selected to Turkish National in their areas. In
the meantime, I enrolled for a sports administration doctorate but due to lack of time, I was not able to complete the
programme yet. However, that did not stop me from getting involved with sports administration and I was one of the
founding members of the HASAL fencing club. Then I decided to share my professional medical expertise with my
passion for sports. I got elected as the head of the Turkish Fencing Federation's Health Committee. In addition to
that, I was the field doctor on international fencing tournaments which were held in Turkey and I was the team
doctor of Turkish National Fencing Team on various tournaments. I was also on the health board during the Junior
Cadet World Championships in 2007 which was held in Belek.

Jeremy Summers: DC, L.Ac., ATC, DACBSP®
Summers joined the USA Fencing Sports Medicine program in 2008 and was later named Chief Medical Officer in
2012. A member of the U.S. National Fencing Team for four years, Summers has more than 23 years of
experience in the sport, including serving as an alternate for the 2000 Olympic Games, a member of the 1997
Senior World Team and a competitor at more than 50 World Cup events in saber.
Summers sustained a severe injury during the 1996 Junior World Championships and his experience rehabbing to
return to competition ultimately catapulted Summers' devotion to sports medicine.
After his retirement from competitive fencing, Summers earned his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and
athletic training from Park University in 2004. He went on to receive his doctor of chiropractic degree from
Southern California University of Health Sciences in 2009 and also holds a masters in acupuncture and a
diplomate of chiropractic sports medicine.
From 2012-2015, Summers led the USA Fencing Sports medicine program, providing sports medicine providers to
the domestic and international circuits, while maintaining clinical practice at Soft Tissue Center at D.I.S.C Spine
and Sport in Southern California and teaching as adjunct faculty position at Southern California University of
Health Sciences.
In 2015, Summers left his clinical practice and teaching to take on the new role as USA Fencing Director of Sports
Medicine as a full-time member of the USA Fencing staff. When not traveling to support Team USA on the
international circuit or at any of USA Fencing's national events, Summers also supports the sports medicine clinic
at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
