Max Downtown. We are committed
Welcome to Max Downtown. We are committed to
providing a comprehensive, diverse, and complimentary
wine service program. It is our goal to balance recognized
brands with reputations for consistency and quality, with
new and upcoming stars hailing from regions less familiar
to most. Ask our educated staff for a recommendation, or
ask for me personally.
–Justin T Gavry, Wine Director, Sommelier
Please consider the option of asking for us to release you from the burdens of making choices for
you and your guests. We will happily take your menus away, tailor a tasting menu to meet your
personal preferences and dietary restrictions using the finest in hyper local and fresh ingredients. If
it suits your tastes we can take it a step further and pair each course with fine wines from all over the
world (with the occasional appearance of a craft cocktail or microbrew). It is these opportunities that
all of us here gain the most excitement from, as it is our passion driven artistic expression in the
form of something that you can use all of your senses to enjoy.

The wines listed above are poured using a revolutionary Coravin preservation system. The cork and
foil are left on the bottle while it is withdrawn with a surgical needle and forced out with pressurized
Argon, a heavy inert gas which prevents any contact between the wine left in the bottle and oxygen.

I drink champagne when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it
when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory.
I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and drink it when I am.
Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty.

Sauvignon Blanc bangs you in the mouth, like an old peasant with his
wooden shoe. The Sauvignon is a whipper-snapper. It’s violent, it’s sharp, it’s
like a ferocious dog you keep on a leash. – Troisgros

“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic
taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the
succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed
it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to
be happy and to make plans.” – Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast
