Abbey’s Street
THE PROJECT
Abbey’s Street, the project that I want to present you, is an audacious and ambitious plan.
Audacious, because is not easy to appraoch and analyse Abbey Lincoln’s universe.
Ambitious aswell because this project aimed to mix styles and by the way bring a new public profil who is not very partial of jazz. Discover what it
had become today : open the doors, discover the worlds, open consciences.
To introduce the Abbey’s Street project, CATHALY explains how this nice story was born.
This project is born from my meeting with Abbey Lincoln’s world. Such an important meeting which is based on the so singular voice of Abbey
Lincoln, described as unconventional with an unusual universe (breaking with a traditional jazzy style). Abbey Lincoln represents an audacious
modern musicality added to involved lyrics, and a mix of a rock and roll style and traditional folk songs.
My own interpretation of Abbey Lincoln’s universe respects his musical attitude with a touch of Rock, folk and blues songs.

THE BAND
CATHALY : Autor and interpretator
Since 18th, Cathaly begins the get on stage with a variety orchestra. She integrates the N’temo Gospel choral, managed by Marcel Boungou and
Jackson Babingui. After this first experience, she decided to try another kind of gospel, a trio named Bb sky composed by 3 voices and percussions.
Today, she is one of the tree singers of « Supremes Girls » (tribute to Diana Ross and the Supremes), play in a trio with Dj, piano and voices.
