Description: One postdoctoral fellowship position funded by the Paralyzed Veterans of America
(PVA) is available for one year at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation and Social
Integration (CIRRIS, www.cirris.ulaval.ca/en) under the supervision of Dr. Luc Noreau (Scientific
Director, CIRRIS) and colleagues from Université Laval, Université de Montréal, and University of
Toronto.1
The position will involve implementation of a knowledge mobilization initiative in the field of spinal cord
injury (SCI). The candidate will work to expand and manage the Participation and Quality of Life (PARQoL) web-based tool-kit (www.parqol.com). Specifically, the fellow will work to conduct and publish
systematic reviews on quality of life measures used to assess life domains (e.g., housing,
employment, etc.) after SCI, to translate the findings onto a web-based platform for dissemination and
to participate in the development of a webinar on outcome tool selection.
Requirements: The applicant is expected to hold a PhD related to the field of rehabilitation (i.e.,
physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, kinesiology, psychology, etc.), and she/he is expected
to have published peer-reviewed articles in the field of her/his study. An understanding of SCI
rehabilitation will be considered a definite advantage. Although the project is based in Quebec, there
is some flexibility with working off-site with periodic travel to Quebec (to be negotiated).
Environment: The research team in Quebec carried out multiples research activities in two major
research centers (Quebec City: cirris.ulaval.ca; Montreal: crir.ca) in fields related to motor, hearing,
vision and language impairment of persons of all ages requiring adaptation, rehabilitation and social
integration services. These research centers are committed to the development and the diffusion of
knowledge in the field of rehabilitation in order to support social integration. Both has a group of
distinguished scientists funded from Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences
and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada, the Rick Hansen Institute, the Fonds de la
recherche du Québec (FRQ) and National Defense (Canada).

Stage postdoctoral en transfert des connaissances appliqué au domaine
des lésions médullaires

Description: Un stage postdoctoral financé par ‘the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA)’ est disponible
pour une année au Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en réadaptation et intégration sociale (CIRRIS,
www.cirris.ulaval.ca) sous la supervision du Dr. Luc Noreau et de collègues de l’Université Laval,
l’Université de Montréal et l’Université de Toronto.1
Le stage consistera à développer une initiative de mobilisation des connaissances dans le domaine des
lésions médullaires. Le candidat travaillera à accroitre le développement du site ‘Participation and Quality
of Life (PAR-QoL)’ (www.parqol.ca), une application internet sur le transfert des connaissances.
Spécifiquement, le candidat développera et publiera des revues systématiques sur les instruments de
mesure de la qualité de vie en lien avec différents domaines importants (incluant le logement, l’emploi, le
soutien au revenu, etc.) à la suite d’une lésion médullaire. Il inclura ces résultats dans la plate-forme et
participera au développement d’un ‘webinar’ sur la sélection des outils de mesure reliés à la qualité de vie.
Exigences: Le candidat devra détenir un diplôme de doctorat (Ph.D.) dans une discipline reliée au
domaine de la réadaptation (physiothérapie, ergothérapie, sciences infirmières, kinésiologie, psychologie,
etc.) et devra avoir débuté la publication d’articles dans des revues avec comité de pairs dans son champs
d’études. Une connaissance du domaine des lésions médullaires et une bonne capacité de s’exprimer en
anglais (écrit et oral) seront des atouts. Bien qu’il soit prévu que le projet se réalise à Québec, il sera
possible de discuter avec le candidat de la possibilité d’être basé dans une autre localité avec des visites
périodiques à Québec.
Environnement de recherche: L’équipe de recherche réalise des activités de recherche dans deux
centres de recherche d’importance au Québec (Québec : www.cirris.ulaval.ca; Montréal : www.crir.ca)
dans les champs des déficiences motrices, visuelles, auditives et du langage. Les centres de recherche
sont engagés dans le développement et la diffusion des connaissances en réadaptation en vue de soutenir
l’intégration sociale. Les deux centres comptent des chercheurs de grande qualité financés par les
Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada (IRSC), le Conseil de recherche en science et génie (CRSNG)
du Canada, l’Institut Rick Hansen, les Fonds recherche Québec (santé, société et culture, nature et
technologie) et les Forces armées canadiennes.
