With outstanding finesse, richness and complexity, this wine is chased by wine lovers worldwide as the « purple diamond ». Owner Emmanuel Reynaud also produces Fonsalette, probably the best Cotes du Rhone ever produced, at same level as a great Chateauneuf du Pape. With his other estate, Chateau des Tours, Emmanuel Reynaud is one of the stars of the Vacqueyras appellation. Deep ruby to the rim with that classic Rayas nose of flowers, kirsch liqueur, black raspberries, crushed rocks, and minerals, the wine is dense and concentrated, with a broad, savory mouthfeel, sweet yet silky tannin, fabulous persistence, and a blockbuster finish that just goes on and on. This is a reassuringly profound Rayas that seems to suggest that Emmanuel Reynaud has finally figured out this coldclimate terroir in a warm climate appellation. This wine should be given 3-4 years of bottle age, and drunk over the following 20+ years." The wine is sold locally and in France. 1935 : Louis acquires Domaine des Tours in Vacqueyras. 1945 : Louis acquires Château de Fonsalette. 1978 : Jacques, son of Louis, runs the estates. He vinifies many vintages and gives a lot of attention and care to the soil. He studies the soil balance and its influence on wines quality. 1997, Emmanuel Reynaud, who was running Château des Tours since 1989, runs the three estates after the death of his uncle Jacques.
