Sunday July 17: Arrival - Saltvík – Aðalból (25 km)
Our tour starts at Reykkjavík Domestic Airport (Eagle Air Terminal) with the 8h morning flight
to Husavík, where our hosts will pick us up and drive us to Saltvík Farm. After an introduction
to hosts and horses at Saltvík farm, we saddle up and ride across the Hvammsheiði hill with
beautiful views over Laxá river and the Aðaldalur valley, where the river runs through lava
fields and nice farm lands. We cross the river Laxá at a crossing where the river is about 100
m wide! We spend the night at Saltvík Farm and enjoy a nice and cozy first evening.
Monday July 18: Aðalból - Fosshóll (35 km)
We ride up along the nice little „forest“ Fellsskógur and enjoy the view over the river Skjálfandafljót and its surroundings. We end the ride at the farm Fosshóll near Goðafoss waterfall and
drive back home to Saltvík, where the hot pots are waiting for us.
Tuesday July 19: Fosshóll – Stóra Tunga (45 km)
Today is a perfect day for fast tölt riding! We ride up the valley Bárðardalur which is one of
the longest valleys in Iceland . We follow the Skjálfandafljót river, riding excellent tracks on the
river banks towards our destination at the farm Stóra-Tunga, where we stay overnight.
Wednesday July 20: Stóra Tunga - Arnarvatn (35 km)
Now we start heading north again towards the south side of lake Mývatn. Excellent riding
trails in the heath lands south of Mývatn await us, with amazing views over the lake. We drive
back to Stóra-Tunga, where we stay another night.
Thursday July 21: Arnarvatn – Reykjahlíð (30 km)
We spend the day riding around the lake Mývatn. While riding through lava fields and sandy
deserts, we enjoy the view and the fascianating nature around the lake. We end the ride at
the north side of the lake at Reykjahlíð village and after a relaxing hot bath in the Jarðböð
(the Mývatn Nature Bath), we drive back home to Saltvík Farm for the night.
Friday July 22: Reykjahlíð – Grímsstaðir (45 km)
The last day we ride across Námaskarð and make a brief stop at Hverarönd geothermal area
and take a look at the natural hot springs there. Then we ride across Búrfellshaun towards
Grímsstaðir farm, where we end our ride. The queen of Icelandic Mountains Herðubreið will
guide us the way to Grímsstaðir and the scenary is fantastic with the huge lava fields for
Búrfellshraun all around. The riding trail on this last day is again excellent, now with soft sandy trails more or less the whole day. We spend our last night at Saltvík Farm with a goodbye
dinner and party.
Saturday July 23: Departure
After a nice breakfast, we take the flight back to Reykjavík. We will end our tour at Reykjavík
Domestic Airport (Eagle Air Terminal) around 12h.

Um einen Platz auf einer Tour fest zu reservieren ist es erforderlich, eine Anzahlung von 30% des Tourpreises zu leisten. Sobald wir diese Anzahlung erhalten haben, ist Ihnen Ihr Platz sicher. Der Rest des
Preises ist bis sechs Wochen vor Tourbeginn zu bezahlen.
Die Beträge werden Ihnen nach eingegangener Reservation in Rechnung gestellt.

Informationen
Verpflegung: Während des Rittes ist Vollpension eingeschlossen. Unsere Mahlzeiten bestehen aus
einem umfangreichen Frühstück und traditionellen isländischen Gerichten (Fisch oder Lamm).
Vegetarische Mahlzeiten müssen bitte vorbestellt werden. Alle Teilnehmer stellen sich ihr eigenes
Lunch Paket am Frühstücksbuffet zusammen. Süssigkeiten o.ä. für zwischendurch müssen selbst
mitgebracht werden.
Unterkunft: Die Unterkünfte an den Reittagen sind eingeschlossen. Während der Tour sind wir in
einfachen Unterkünften in Schlafsäcken untergebracht. Manchmal übernachtet die gesamte Gruppe in einem Raum. Die Unterkünfte sind mit Betten, Etagenbetten und Etagenbetten für je 2 Personen
ausgestattet, abhängig von der jeweiligen Grösse der Berghütte. Toiletten im gleichen Gebäude,
warme Duschen und/oder warme Hot Pots stehen in den meisten Fällen zur Verfügung. Alle sanitären Anlagen werden gemeinsam genutzt.
Gepäck: Das Gepäck wird vom Küchenfahrzeug transportiert. Benutzen Sie bitte Reisetaschen anstelle von Hartschalenkoffern. Packen Sie sinnvoll, der Platz für den Gepäcktransport ist begrenzt.
Ausrüstung: Regenbekleidung, Satteltaschen, Reithelm und Schlafsack werden vor Ort zur Verfügung gestellt.
Crew: Die Reittour wird von Saltvik ehf, 641 Husavik (KT: 5006050220) durchgeführt. Die Crew besteht aus einem erfahrenen Tourguide, weiteren Guides und einem Koch.
Herde: Pferdewechsel
findet ein bis zwei Mal pro Tag statt. Wir reiten im Sommer mit freilaufender
Pferdeherde, der traditionellen Art, in Island zu reiten.

• Individuelle Reiseversicherung (Reiserücktritt & Unfall) ist Sache des Teilnehmers
• Alkoholische Getränke (können bei Ankunft im Duty Free Bereich am Flughafen in Keflavík erworben werden)
Flüge / Flughafentransfer: Wir stehen allen Gästen für Fragen bezüglich Flügen, Flughafentransfer und Unterkünften gerne zur Verfügung. Iceland Air fliegt direkt nach Keflavik. Wowair fliegt im Sommer direkt nach Keflavik. Diverse andere Fluggesellschaften wie SWISS,
Lufthansa, Air Berlin oder SAS bedienen die Route mit Zwischenstopp. Der Flybus verkehrt zwischen dem Internationalen Flughafen Keflavik und Reykjavik nach jeder Ankunft eines Fluges.
Der Bus fährt zum Bus Terminal BSI und auf Anfrage zu diversen Hotels und Gästehäusern.

Desinfektion:
Bereits benutzte Reitbekleidung (Schuhe, Stiefel, Reithosen, Jacken, Helme, Handschuhe etc.) müssen vor der Einreise nach Island bei 40°C gewaschen und desinfiziert oder chemisch gereinigt werden. Alles was nicht in die Waschmaschine passt kann folgendermaßen desinfiziert werden: Gründlich mit einem Reinigungsmittel abwaschen, Trocknen, mit 1% VirkonS ® einsprühen (10g pro Liter
Wasser)Diese Prozedur sollte 5 Tage vor der Einreise durchgeführt werden bevor die Gegenstände
mit den Pferden in Island in Berührung kommen.Sättel, Trensen und andere Lederutensilien dürfen
nicht nach Island eingeführt werden. Bitte haben Sie Verständnis für diese Vorsichtsmaßnahme,
da die isländischen Pferde vor ihnen unbekannten Krankheiten und Infektionen geschützt werden
müssen.

Konditionen
Buchung:
Eine Anzahlung von 30% des Reisepreises ist notwenig, um eine Buchung zu bestätigen. Sobald die
Anzahlung eingegangen ist, ist der Platz gesichert. Die Restzahlung sollte sechs Wochen vor Tourbeginn erfolgen.
Stornierung:
Für Stornierungen gelten folgende Regeln: Schriftliche Stornierung mehr als sechs Wochen vor
Tourbeginn = 10 % des Reisepreises. Weniger als sechs Wochen, aber mehr als drei Wochen vor
Tourbeginn = 30% des Reisepreises. Weniger als drei Wochen, aber mehr als eine Woche vor Tourbeginn = 50% des Reisepreises. Bei einer Stornierung innerhalb der letzten Woche vor Tourbeginn
erheben wir den vollen Reisepreis.
Wir behalten uns Änderungen der Tagesabläufe vor, sollten Wegzustand oder Wetter dies notwendig machen.
Sollte eine Absage der Tour aufgrund ungenügender Teilnehmerzahl nötig sein, erfolgt dies mindestens sechs Wochen vor Tourbeginn. In einem solchen Falle sind wir darum bemüht, eine vergleichbare Alternative anzubieten, ohne dass Zusatzkosten für den Teilnehmer entstehen. Sollte der
Alternativvorschlag den Erwartungen des Teilnehmers nicht entsprechen, wird der volle Reisepreis
rückerstattet.
Versicherung:
Alle Teilnehmer müssen reise-, unfall- und krankenversichert sein. Die Versicherung ist Sache des
Teilnehmers.

Information
Food: During the riding days, all food is included. Our meals consist of a rich breakfast, a lunch box (that
all riders make at breakfast) and hot evening meals with fish, lamb or chicken. Alcoholic drinks are not
included/ provided and are hard to get in the highlands. Please bring your own. If you need extra snacks/
sweets, please bring them along. If you have special dietary needs (vegetarian, allergies etc), please let
us know when you book.
Accommodation: Accommodation on all riding days is included. During the ride, we sleep in basic huts
or farm houses on mattresses with sleeping bags. Sometimes the whole group sleeps in one room. Most
accommodations have toilets in the same building and offer showers and/ or hot pots. All facilities are
shared. Single nights, we spend at remote mountain huts without showers or running water, where we
get water from a nearby river or lake.
Lugguage: The kitchen car transports all food and lugguage. Please limit your lugguage as much as possible and rather use bags than hardshell suitcases.
Packing help: Mosquito net (head), mosquito spray, sun lotion, sheet/ insert for sleeping bag, small (inflatable) pillow, ear plugs, flash light, hoof scraper, sweets/ snacks, playing cards.
Gear: Rain gear (jackets and pants), saddle bags, lunch boxes, water bottles, riding helmets and sleeping
bags are provided on location. If you bring your own, please make sure that you comply with the desinfection regulations (see below).
Crew: The riding tour is operated by Saltvik ehf, 641 Husavik (KT: 5006050220). The crew consists of
an experienced tour guide, extra guides who help with the horses and a cook.
Herd: Usually we change horses once or twice a day. In the summer, we drive our extra horses in a free
running herd, the traditional way of riding in Iceland.
Breaks / Lunch: We take short breaks during our ride where we dismount, let the horses graze and watch
our herd. After half our days ride, we stop for our lunch break. Lunch boxes, water bottles and snacks are
transported on the horse in the saddle bags. Sometimes, we have to eat standing up watching the herd,
if we cannot find a fence for the loose horses. After lunch, we change horses and continue with our ride.

• International flight to/ from Iceland
• Accommodation around the riding days
• Individual travel insurance (travel cancellation & accident insurance) is the participant‘s responsibility
• Alcoholic drinks (you can buy alcohol in the Duty Free shop upon arrival at Keflavik Airport or in
Reykjavik and bring it along in your lugguage.)
Flights / Airport Transfer: All guests book their own flights and accommodation around the riding
days. We are happy to assist you in any way we can. Please feel free to contact us. We have included a
few recommendations for accommodation on the following pages. Iceland Air and Scandinavian Airlines
operate flights to Iceland all year and there are various low-budget airlines that fly during summer months
from different locations (WOWair, easyjet, Air Berlin, German Wings). The FlyBus drives from Keflavik
Airport to the Reykjavik Bus Terminal BSI at all times. Ask the bus driver to drop you off directly at your
guest house or hotel.
Desinfection: Iceland does not vaccinate their animals. It is therefore very important to desincfect all
items / clothing / gear that was in contact with animals. Contact us, if you have questions.
Please be very thorough and respect the animals and regulations !

Terms and Conditions
Booking: We request a 30% confirmation payment upon booking to be able to confirm a seat.
When we have received the confirmation payment the seat is secure. The remaining balance is due
6 weeks before the tour starts.
Cancellation: The following rules apply for cancellations.
• Written cancellation made with more than 6 weeks notice is subject to 10% of the tour price.
• Written cancellation made with less than 6 weeks but more than 3 weeks notice is subject to 30%
of the tour price.
• Written cancellation made with less than 3 weeks and more than 1 week notice is subject to a 50%
cancellation fee.
• Written cancellation made with less than 1 week notice is subject to full payment
We reserve the right to change a day’s itinerary, if road or weather conditions prove very difficult
and require changes.
A cancellation of a tour due to an insufficient number of participants must be made with at least 6
weeks notice. We will make every effort to provide similar alternative arrangements without additional cost to participants. Should the alternative not be to the participants expectation or satisfaction, a full refund will be made.
Insurance: All guests must have adequate medical and travel insurance. We assume no liability.
